This paper explores control aspects in a collab-orative robotic system designed to replicate human operators' drilling skills in deep- micro- hole tasks, focusing on the glass-container mould industry. To replicate human performance, we develop a single-DOF Impedance-based drill controller for a standard industrial position-controlled robot, enhancing safe and smooth interactions between the drill bit and the mould. To address high feed rates observed in worker demonstrations and prevent bit breaks, we focus on minimizing non-axial motion during drilling on an off-the-shelf available industrial manipulator KUKA KR 10. This involves analyzing the impact of joint dynamics on drill motion and designing a control system for the robot's low-level control to achieve axial drill motion. We show that the proposed joint control system that takes into account relationship between joint and tool dynamics outperforms available robot low-level control in minimizing non-axial motion, leading to the robot being able to outperform the human in deep- micro- hole drilling.

In this paper, a deep learning based object detection model is developed for robotic applications in structured agricultural cultivation of sweet peppers (Capsicum annuum). We propose a realistic simulation based method for procedural generation of a labeled sweet pepper dataset. Realistic 3D models of fruit, leaves, and other relevant plant body parts are generated through photogrammetry, enabling generation of a large and relevant dataset. The dataset is labeled for both object detection and semantic segmentation by scene rendering in multiple layers and using artificial depth information. Smart augmentation techniques are deployed in procedural generation, as well as label filtering techniques for more realistic dataset labels. A MobileNet-SSD based deep learning model is trained through transfer learning on the generated dataset. The trained model is tested both in simulated environment, as well as on a relevant real-world setup. © 2022 IEEE.

Software-Defined Networking or SDN (Software-Defined Networking) is a technology for software control and management of the network in order to improve its properties. Unlike classic network management technologies, which are complex and decentralized, SDN technology is a much more flexible and simple system. The new architecture may be vulnerable to several attacks leading to resource depletion and preventing the SDN controller from providing support to legitimate users. One such attack is the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), which is on the rise today. We suggest Modified-DDoSNet, a system for detecting DDoS attacks in the SDN environment. A model based on Deep Learning (DL) techniques will be implemented, combining a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) with an Autoencoder. The proposed model, which was first trained to detect attacks, was implemented in the security architecture of the SDN network, as a new component. The security architecture of the SDN network contains a total of 13 components, each of which represents an individual part of the architecture, where the first component is the RNN - autoencoder. The model itself, which is the first component, was trained in the CICDDoS2019 dataset. It has high reliability for attack detection, which increases the security of the SDN network architecture. © 2022 University of Split, FESB.

The research presented in this paper focuses on the development of fully automated and autonomous vine suckering, a seasonal viticulture activity required to remove all unwanted shoots from the vine trunks. This requires human workers to do a lot of strenuous work, often using only their hands or tools such as clippers or shears. The suckering is done during the early growing season (usually April-May) to provide more energy, water, and nutrients to the main shoots. Commercially available suckering machines appear to be a large-scale solution. However, their performance varies between 10% and 85% and their purely mechanical nature can easily cause damage to the vines. In this paper, we present a concept for autonomous suckering using a mobile robot equipped with a special suckering tool driven by a torque-controlled DC motor that protects the vine from damage. The proposed suckering system was designed, analysed and experimentally validated in a real vineyard. The results showed that the system was able to remove about two thirds of the unwanted shoots, reaching a suckering rate of more than 86 vines per hour. © 2022 IEEE.

The paper analyzes the preparation of software for acoustic signal classification with machine learning techniques for microcontrollers. The design process was tested for three types of devices: Nordic Thingy:53, *** and Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense Lite. The classifier training process was carried out using the Edge Impulse platform. Experimental studies were carried out for the process of classifying sound signals generated by the vacuum cleaner motor. Quantum computing is progressing at a fast rate and there is a real threat that classical cryptographic methods can be compromised and therefore impact the security of blockchain networks. All of the ways used to secure blockchain like Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA), Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit (SHA256) are the characteristic of the traditional cryptographic techniques vulnerable to attack by quantum algorithms: Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms: can efficiently break asymmetric encryption and speed up brute force attacks. Because of this vulnerability, there exists a need to develop an advance quantum resilient blockchain framework to protect the decentralized ledgers from the future threats of the quantum. This research proposes Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) as a formidable architectural integration, to fortify security of blockchain. Classical encryption is replaced with PQC, QKD with secure key exchange by detecting eavesdropping, and QRNG with improving cryptographic randomness to remove the predictable key vulnerability. Only with a small loss of transaction efficiency, we increase transaction encryption accuracy, key exchange security, and resistance to quantum attacks. In this quantum enhanced blockchain design, the idea is to preserve the decentralization, transparency and security and at the same time overcome the future quantum threat. By going through rigorous analysis and comparative evaluation, we demonstrate that the approach saves blockchain networks from the emerging quantum risks to make sure that the decentralized finance, smart contracts and cross chain transactions. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization). Programming by demonstration (PbD) is a simple and efficient way to program robots without explicit robot programming. PbD enables unskilled operators to easily demonstrate and guide different robots to execute task. In this paper we present comparison of demonstration methods with comprehensive user study. Each participant had to demonstrate drawing simple pattern with human demonstration using virtual marker and kinesthetic teaching with robot manipulator. To evaluate differences between demonstration methods, we conducted user study with 24 participants which filled out NASA raw task load index (rTLX) and system usability scale (SUS). We also evaluated similarity of the executed trajectories to measure difference between demonstrated and ideal trajectory. We concluded study with finding that human demonstration using a virtual marker is on average 8 times faster, superior in terms of quality and imposes 2 times less overall workload than kinesthetic teaching. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper presents an approach for robust target detection and localization in the context of UAV autonomous landing with partially occluded targets. Since the performance of the autonomous landing system largely depends on the accurate detection and positioning of the landing target, it is very important to deal with the local occlusion caused by obstacles or environmental factors. In order to improve the overall performance of the system, we propose a fault-tolerant target detection method and target completion strategy. The proposed target detection method combines image processing technology with feature extraction algorithm, which can recognize and locate the landing target even in the case of occlusion. The target completion strategy aims to recover the missing part of the occluded target and make the detection and location algorithm execute more reliably. We perform experiments on image data sets with different horizontal object occlusion to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The results show that our method successfully detects and locates the landing target under different occlusion levels, and significantly improves the performance of UAV autonomous landing system in the real scene. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The expansion of the automotive industry is reflected in the expansion of functionalities and services offered by a modern vehicle. In order for all of them to be executed, it is also necessary to increase the number of physical components within the vehicle. As the entire system grows, so does the problem of connecting the entities within it. The efficient simplification of the system is achieved by introducing domain controllers, and separating the physical components based on the functionality they perform, while creating the backbone communication network between domain controllers. Time-critical and other performance requirements, which are driven by the development of autonomous driving, demand the utilization of new standards and solutions for this communication network backbone. One of those solutions is Automotive Ethernet. In this paper, an implementation of the Ethernet subsystem of the domain controller for autonomous vehicles will be presented and evaluated. © 2021 IEEE.
