Predicting Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for a Multi-Airport System (MAS) is much more challenging than for a single airport system because of complex air route structure, dense air traffic volume and vagaries of traffic conditions in an MAS. In this work, we propose a novel Bubble mechanism to accurately and e ciently predict medium-term ETA for a Multi-Airport System (MAS), in which the prediction of travel time of an origin-destination (OD) pair is decomposed into two stages, termed as out-MAS and in-MAS stages. For the out-MAS stage, Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) is used to predict the travel time of a ight to reach the MAS boundary. For the in-MAS stage, we construct new spatio-temporal features based on clustering analysis of trajectory patterns facilitated by a novel data-driven hybrid polar sampling method. A sequence-to-sequence prediction model, Multi-variate Stacked Fully connected Bidirectional Long-Short Term Memory, is further developed to achieve multi-step-ahead predictions of in-MAS travel time for each trajectory pattern using the spatio-temporal features as input. Finally, the medium-term ETA prediction for an MAS is achieved by integrating the out-MAS and in-MAS prediction with the help of trajectory pattern prediction via random forest. A case study of predicting medium-term ETA for a typical MAS in China, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, is conducted to demonstrate the usage and promising performance of the proposed method in comparison to several commonly used end-to-end learning methods. © 2022, The Authors. Multimodal sentiment analysis(MSA) aims to synthesize multiple pieces of information, including textual, visual, and auditory information, to more accurately infer sentiment polarity. Due to the existence of complex and diverse affective causal relationships between different modalities, they interact with each other and constitute a multidimensional expression of human emotions. In the face of unbalanced data, i.e., when there are significant differences in the number of samples between different categories, the attention mechanism of the model tends to focus on spurious correlations in the training data, seriously impairing the model’s generalization ability and leading to bias, unbalanced prediction, and false correlation identification problems. To address the above problems, this study proposes a new multimodal fusion method based on the "within-sample sampling" and "cross-sample sampling" front door adjustment methods in causal inference strategies: the multi-head causal attention fusion method (MCAF). This method aims to capture potential causal relationships between different modalities through different attention heads, helping the model focus more on key causal features and avoid paying too much attention to false correlations in the training data. This helps improve the generalization performance of the model, make the decision-making process of the model more interpretable, and enhance the accuracy and robustness of the model for multimodal sentiment analysis tasks, making it more suitable for practical application scenarios.

Knowledge graphs (KGs) provide a structured representation of the real world through entity-relation triples. However, current KGs are often incomplete, typically containing only a small fraction of all possible facts. This involves inferring missing content from existing information, a task known as link prediction. Existing methods in the field of link prediction struggle with controlling the dimensionality of embedding vectors or suffer from overly complex models. In order to tackle these challenges, we introduce a method in this paper, named Low-Dimensional Embedding Method for Link Prediction Combining Self-Attention and Enhanced-TuckER (LESaET). LESaET leverages both self-attention mechanisms and tensor factorization to learn expressive contextual-enhanced representations of KGs. Specifically, LESaET employs the multi-head self-attention mechanism of Transformer as an encoder to capture the mutual information between entities and relationships, and utilizes Enhanced-TuckER as a decoder, ultimately achieving expressive low-dimensional embeddings for link prediction tasks. LESaET demonstrates competitive performance compared to advanced methods on standard datasets.

Medical Visual Question Answering (Med-VQA) is a sophisticated multimodal technology within the medical domain that utilizes natural language processing and artificial intelligence techniques. It serves as a tool in the medical field to provide information and answers, aiming to correctly respond to medical questions related to specific professional medical images. The primary goal is to assist patients in understanding their physical condition and provide decision support for healthcare professionals. While Generalized Visual Question Answering has seen significant advancements, challenges persist in the medical domain. Firstly, medical data has inherent limitations, such as the scarcity of annotated medical datasets and the complexity of medical images (including factors like noise, artifacts, and low contrast). Secondly, in terms of cross-modal fusion, there exists an intricate relationship between medical images and textual information. The complexity of the relationship between medical images and medical text, as well as the incorporation of global contextual details, pose challenges. To address these issues, this paper proposes the Feature-Enhanced Network with Conditional Mixing. This innovative approach aims to overcome the scarcity and complexity of medical images without the need for additional datasets. Simultaneously, to tackle the challenge of cross-modal fusion and information interaction and to address the complex relationship between medical images and text, we propose the Cross-Adaptive Fusion Network. Experimental results conducted on the VQA-RAD dataset demonstrate noticeable improvements in accuracy compared to mainstream Med-VQA models.

Personalized news recommendation helps users find interesting content among much news information. Most existing news recommendation techniques densely interact a user’s historical clicked news with candidate news to capture their reading interest. However, during this process, even if certain historical clicked news is weakly correlated with the candidate news, the model still interacts with it, generating more noise information when constructing user interests. Simultaneously, the news representation learning process using neural networks is a fine-grained to coarse-grained learning process; i.e., as the network deepens, the fine-grained original news information is easily lost. Therefore, to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a news recommendation model based on hierarchical granular semantic embeddings and threshold attention (HGTA). In HGTA, we propose a threshold attention module to filter unimportant historical clicked news by setting an attention score threshold, i.e., interacting only with historical clicked news that is strongly correlated with the candidate news when capturing user interests. Thus, the model attention is focused, and the noisy interaction information is reduced. Furthermore, when training the neural network, to prevent the loss of fine-grained information, we design a hierarchical granular information extraction module to capture both coarse- and fine-grained news features to better enrich the news semantics. Experiments conducted on the large real-world Microsoft News dataset (MIND) show that our model achieves highly competitive results in terms of popular metrics. In recent years, aspect sentiment quadruple prediction (ASQP) has become a popular task in the field of aspect-based sentiment analysis. When modeling comment statements, it is often necessary to consider structural information between sentiment labels. Existing approaches categorize these labels by encoding text and dependency tree structures separately and then incorporating their representations, but this approach fails to effectively capture the structural information between sentiment labels. To address this problem, we propose a method for ASQP called Opinion-Tree-guided Contrastive Learning (OTCL), which embeds structural information directly into the text instead of modeling it separately. Specifically, OTCL utilizes the opinion tree structure to guide the construction of positive samples of the input text during training. By associating the input text with its positive samples, the text encoder can learn to generate textual representations associated with the opinion tree structure. We validate the effectiveness of our method on two commonly used datasets.

Entity alignment(EA) aims to identify equivalent entities in different knowledge graphs or data sources and establish correspondences between them. In recent years, embedding-based methods have made significant progress in the field of entity alignment, yet the shortage of adequate training data (i.e., seed entity pairs) continues to be a primary challenge. Traditional semi-supervised methods typically address this issue by generating potential mappings (i.e., pseudo-mappings) for unlabeled entities. However, these methods often suffer from the influence of erroneous potential mappings or overlook the uncertainty of potential mappings. Therefore, we propose a novel semi-supervised entity alignment method called JTEA. This method combines seed entity pairs with potential mappings through end-to-end joint training, providing strong guidance for model training. In constructing potential mappings, we propose a bidirectional matching strategy (BMS), which generates more detailed potential mappings by jointly adjusting decisions in different directions and uses a joint matching confidence score to characterize its uncertainty. Furthermore, we also introduce a method of matching diversity alignment selection, aiming to screen out more reliable entity alignments to further improve the performance and stability of the model. We conducted a large number of experiments on the benchmark dataset to fully validate the effectiveness of the JTEA method.

Discrete chaotic systems based on memristors exhibit excellent dynamical properties and are more straightforward to implement in hardware, making them highly suitable for generating cryptographic keystreams. However, most existing memristor-based chaotic systems rely on a single memristor. This paper introduces a novel discrete chaotic system employing dual memristors, named the 3D memristive cubic map with dual discrete memristors (3D-MCM). The 3D-MCM system demonstrates richer and more intricate dynamical behaviors compared to its single-memristor counterparts, as verified through bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponent spectra, and complexity analyses. Notably, the system exhibits coexisting attractors, substantially enhancing its dynamical complexity. Hardware implementation of the 3D-MCM attractors confirms its feasibility for industrial applications. To illustrate the system's potential in encryption tasks, this study integrates the quaternary-based permutation and dynamic emanating diffusion (QPDED-IE) scheme for image encryption with the *** results demonstrate that the QPDED-IE scheme based on the 3D-MCM exhibits strong diffusion and confusion properties, effectively resisting cryptanalytic attacks. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Integrating Deep Learning with Fundus and Optical Coherence Tomography for Cardiovascular Disease Prediction

Early identification of patients at risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is crucial for effective preventive care, reducing healthcare burden, and improving patients’ quality of life. This study demonstrates the potential of retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging in conjunction with fundus photographs for identifying future adverse cardiac events. We utilized data from 977 patients who experienced CVD within a 5-year interval post-image acquisition, alongside 1,877 control participants without CVD, totaling 2,854 subjects. We propose a novel binary classification network based on a Multi-channel Variational Autoencoder (MCVAE), which learns a latent embedding of patients’ fundus and OCT images to classify individuals into two groups: those likely to develop CVD in the future and those who are not. Our model, trained on both imaging modalities, achieved promising results (AUROC 0.78 ± 0.02, accuracy 0.68 ± 0.002, precision 0.74 ± 0.02, sensitivity 0.73 ± 0.02, and specificity 0.68 ± 0.01), demonstrating its efficacy in identifying patients at risk of future CVD events based on their retinal images. This study highlights the potential of retinal OCT imaging and fundus photographs as cost-effective, non-invasive alternatives for predicting cardiovascular disease risk. The widespread availability of these imaging techniques in optometry practices and hospitals further enhances their potential for large-scale CVD risk screening. Our findings contribute to the development of standardized, accessible methods for early CVD risk identification, potentially improving preventive care strategies and patient outcomes. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

In this paper, we propose a simultaneous wire-less information and power transfer (SWIPT)-enabled Ad hoc network underlay rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA)-based system with intelligent reflecting surface (IRS). Therein, a base station (BS) in a primary network uses RSMA to serve primary users (PUs), and secondary user (SU) pairs constitute an Ad hoc network sharing the spectrum with the primary network. The power splitting (PS)-based SWIPT protocol is used in the Ad hoc network that allow the SU receivers to decode the information and harvest energy simultaneously. An IRS is deployed to further enhance the system performance. We formulate optimization problems that optimize the common data rate allocation and beamformers associated with the common and private messages of RSMA, the beamformers and the PS factor in the Ad hoc network, and reflection coefficients of the IRS to maximize the minimum rate of the PUs while satisfying the requirements of harvested energy and data rate of the SU pairs. The optimization problems are non-convex and challenging to be solved. We propose a low complexity algorithm based on alternating descent techniques. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness and improvement of the proposed framework compared with the framework based on existing multiple access schemes, i.e., non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA).
