INTRODUCTION: The human blood as a collection of tissues containing Red Blood Cells (RBCs), circular in shape and acting as an oxygen carrier, are frequently deformed by multiple blood diseases inherited from parents. These hereditary diseases of blood involve abnormal haemoglobin (Hb) or anemia which are major public health issues. Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is one of the common non-communicable disease and genetic disorder due to changes in hematological conditions of the RBCs which often causes the inheritance of mutant Hb genes by the patient.. OBJECTIVES: The process of manual valuation, predictions and diagnosis of SCD necessitate for a passionate time spending and if not done properly can lead to wrong predictions and diagnosis. Machine Learning (ML), a branch of AI which emphases on building systems that improve performance based on the data they consume is appropriate. Despite previous research efforts in predicting with single ML algorithm, the existing systems still suffer from high false and wrong predictions. METHODS: Thus, this paper aimed at performing comparative analysis of individual ML algorithms and their ensemble models for effective predictions of SCD (elongated shapes) in erythrocytes blood cells. Three ML algorithms were selected, and ensemble models were developed to perform the predictions and metrics were used to evaluate the performance of the model using accuracy, sensitivity, Receiver Operating Characteristics-Area under Curve (ROC-AUC) and F1 score metrics. The results were compared with existing literature for model(s) with the best prediction metrics performance.. RESULTS: The analysis was carried out using Python programming language. Individual ML algorithms reveals that their accuracies show MLR=87%, XGBoost=90%, and RF=93%, while hybridized RF-MLR=92% and RF-XGBoost=99%. BFGTP: A BERT-Guided Two-Stage Molecular Representation Learning Framework for Toxicity Prediction

Accurate prediction of molecular toxicity is vital for drug development. Most mainstream methods rely on fingerprints or graph-based feature extraction, the emergence of large language models (LLMs) offers new prospects for molecular representation learning in toxicity prediction. Although several studies attempt to leverage LLMs to integrate molecular sequence data for pretraining molecular representations, certain limitations remain. Current LLM-based approaches usually utilize solely on class embedding features, overlooking the rich information in sequence embedding. Moreover, integrating pre-trained molecular representations with multi-modal molecular data may further enhance performance in toxicity prediction. To address these challenges, we propose BFGTP, a BERT-guided two-stage molecular representation learning framework for toxicity prediction. Firstly, we design independent encoders for molecular descriptions of three modalities, where the fingerprint encoder with dual level attention mechanisms effectively integrates multi-category fingerprints. Then, the two-stage guide strategy is introduced to fully utilize the prior knowledge of LLMs, employing contrastive learning to align and fuse the tri-modal representations and knowledge distillation to align predicted value distributions. BFGTP ultimately combines fingerprint and graph representations to predict molecular toxicity. Experiments on seven toxicity datasets show that BFGTP outperforms baselines, achieving the highest AUC on five datasets and the best average performance across five evaluation metrics. Ablation studies, t-SNE visualization and case study confirm the effectiveness of BFGTP's components and its ability to capture meaningful molecular representations. ©2013 IEEE.

The identification of psychological stress and disorders like panic attacks and anxiety is vital for improving mental health care. This study investigates the use of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals to predict these conditions, leveraging three deep learning models: a feedforward neural network, a transformer-based model, and a hybrid convolutional neural network (CNN)-long short-term memory network (LSTM). Performance metrics, including accuracy, F1 score, precision, recall, RMSE, and R-squared, were used for evaluation. The feedforward model achieved accuracies of 95.42% and 95.66% for predicting panic and anxiety attacks, respectively, while the transformer-based model also delivered promising results. Notably, the CNN-LSTM hybrid model outperformed the others, achieving 95.90% accuracy for anxiety prediction and excelling in stress level estimation with an RMSE of 0.1671 and an R-squared value of 0.9438. These findings demonstrate the hybrid model's efficacy in predicting psychological conditions and estimating stress levels. This approach holds significant promise for improving mental health assessments, early interventions, and treatment strategies. © 2025 IEEE.

Environmental monitoring plays a crucial role in understanding the impact of human activities on our ecosystems. However, the cost and complexity of traditional monitoring systems often hinder widespread deployment, especially in resource-constrained regions. This research paper explores the feasibility and effectiveness of employing Arduino Internet of Things (IoT) modules as a low-cost alternative for environmental research monitoring. The study focuses on designing and implementing an Arduino-based environmental monitoring system capable of gathering real-time data on key environmental parameters, such as temperature, humidity, air quality, and soil moisture. The hardware setup comprises Arduino microcontrollers interfaced with a range of environmental sensors and connectivity modules for data transmission. To assess the system's reliability and accuracy, a series of field experiments were conducted in diverse environmental settings, including urban areas, agricultural zones, and natural habitats. The collected data was compared against measurements from conventional monitoring equipment to validate the Arduino-based system's performance. The research demonstrates that the Arduino IoT modules can effectively monitor and transmit environmental data with a reasonable level of accuracy and stability, making them suitable for various environmental research applications. The low-cost nature of Arduino components and the open-source ecosystem facilitate customization and scalability, enabling researchers and organizations to develop tailored monitoring solutions for specific environmental contexts. Additionally, the paper discusses the challenges and limitations encountered during the deployment of Arduino-based monitoring systems, including power constraints, sensor calibration, and data processing techniques. Many studies show that bearings are the most vulnerable components in low-voltage motors. While advanced bearing diagnostic systems exist, their cost can be a barrier for non-critical machinery due to the potential wait time to see a return on investment. This research explores the feasibility of using basic signal processing techniques on vibration data for bearing condition monitoring. The primary goal is to analyze benchmark data from the Case Western Reserve university (CWRU) dataset and establish a baseline performance for this data-driven approach. The results suggest that, with appropriate signal processing, it's possible to achieve early detection of bearing faults, leading to more efficient time-to-fault identification with higher detection accuracies ranging from 83 % to 100 % for each method.

The biomedical applications of nanoparticles are growing in recent years. The uses range from diagnostic to therapeutic purposes, and researchers are constantly introducing new ways. Biosensors, miniaturization techniques, surface enhancement in implantable biomaterials, and better nanofibers in medical textiles are some of the contributions of biomedical nanotechnology. Therapeutic (medical) imaging successfully maps the anatomy of the human body. Image enhancement, analysis, categorization, and image based representation are all possible areas of computer processing and analysis of medical images. Therapeutic image understanding uses computer vision, applied mathematics, signal analysis, and artificial intelligence to recognise objects in medical images. Image processing is the use of computer algorithms to manipulate digital images. Hand-held transducers emit and receive pulsed acoustic waves for medical ultrasound imaging. In this study, a computer-aided diagnosis method is developed to help cytotechnicians locate and classify aberrant cells in cervical cytology images. With the outcomes of morphological and statistical edge based segmentation are compared to traditional segmentation techniques. The proposed segmentation methodology outperforms the other methods. This proposed technique's segmentation accuracy is 98%. © 2022 IEEE.

Heterogeneous graph neural networks aim to discover discriminative node embeddings and relations from multi-relational networks. One challenge of heterogeneous graph learning is the design of learnable meta-paths, which significantly influences the quality of learned embeddings. Thus, in this paper, we propose an Attributed Multi-Order Graph Convolutional Network (AMOGCN), which automatically studies meta-paths containing multi-hop neighbors from an adaptive aggregation of multi-order adjacency matrices. The proposed model first builds different orders of adjacency matrices from manually designed node connections. After that, an intact multi-order adjacency matrix is attached from the automatic fusion of various orders of adjacency matrices. This process is supervised by the node semantic information, which is extracted from the node homophily evaluated by attributes. Eventually, we utilize a one-layer simplifying graph convolutional network with the learned multi-order adjacency matrix, which is equivalent to the cross-hop node information propagation with multi-layer graph neural networks. Substantial experiments reveal that AMOGCN gains superior semi-supervised classification performance compared with state-of-the-art competitors. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

An important issue in data mining and information retrieval is the problem of multiple similarity or n-similarity. This problem entails finding a group of n data points with the highest similarity within a large dataset. Exact methods to solve this problem exist but come with high time and space complexities. Additionally, various metaheuristic algorithms have been proposed, including genetic algorithms, gravitational search algorithms, particle swarm optimization, imperialist competitive algorithms, and fuzzy imperialist competitive algorithms. These metaheuristics are capable of finding near-optimal solutions within a reasonable timeframe, although there is no guarantee of achieving exact results. In this paper, we employ a parallelization technique using CUDA to expedite the exact method. We conduct experiments on textual datasets to identify a group of n textual documents with the highest similarity to each other. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed parallel exact method significantly reduces execution time compared to the best sequential approach and CPU multi-core implementation. Furthermore, it is evident that the proposed method requires less memory space than the exact method.

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the world economy, and Malaysia is no exception. Due to the closure of businesses, the rate of unemployment has been recorded at an all-time high. The Malaysian Government through its agencies is assisting citizens through an online platform for incentives and an aid-giving platform. The current architecture of data sharing is using centralized, organization-oriented authentication and is not immutable for audit capability. In addition, the blockchain network is still a proof of concept in the digital government ecosystem. This paper studies the current aid data-sharing ecosystem and analyzes the potential of having a state government consortium blockchain framework that will be used in the Government Network Infrastructure for decentralized, transparent data sharing with audit capability. Several works involving Blockchain adoption based on domain, Blockchain consortium architecture and Government applications using blockchain are being presented. The need for a framework in implementing decentralized data sharing using consortium blockchain architecture for multi-agencies data sharing focusing on Malaysia Government Aid Management is discussed in this paper to provide the opportunity for the research domain. The findings in this paper will be used for future work on the requirement of a proposed government multi-layer consortium blockchain framework for data sharing in the Malaysian Government specifically for the Johore State Government ecosystem.
