The main distinctive feature of nonlinear processes in cancer is the weakening of deterministic chaos and the growth of stochastic (random) behavior at several hierarchical levels. At the border of various levels of the hierarchical organization due to the antagonism of causal relationships, there is a large area of nonlinear processes that can lead to catastrophic events - self-organization, characteristic of oncogenesis. This makes it possible to apply fractal research methods to medical images of formations on the skin. © 2019 IEEE.

The research concentrates on the modernization issues of diesel-electric passenger locomotives TEP70. There is number of TEP70 locomotives in Baltic region that are used very rarely by their direct application but may as well be usable as freight locomotives. The main goal of the study is to change the tractive force of a TEP70 locomotive to be able to transport cargo in the Baltic region. Analysis of TEP70 working principles and load characteristics are presented. Based on the analytical model of locomotive, suggestion to replace the gearbox to increase locomotive pulling capability is proposed. Moreover, the paper presents calculation of the traction effort of TEP70. That kind of calculations are very important for motion planning and it should be done in order to avoid overloading during the working mode of the locomotive. © 2020 IEEE.

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in renewable energy. Particularly, wind energy is gaining more and more popularity in many countries. However, the main obstacles to wind turbines usage are the vibration and noise close to wind farms. Therefore, this paper is focused on developing a new method for mathematical simulation of vibrations of a wind turbine in order to find out and reduce the vibration level. Particularly, low-frequency vibration of a wind turbine, composed of a tower and rotor in the out-of-balance condition is considered. The proposed method of vibration simulation is based on the theory of elastic beams and the general vibration theory. The calculations are made for a wind turbine VTR 50 Arctic. The results of the calculations are the displacement of the tower top and the stress at the tower foundation. Furthermore, it is worth emphasizing that the method is quite flexible. It allows adding complexity into the system, for instance, external loads such as wind pressure, aerodynamic loads, seismic loads or operational loads. © 2020 IEEE.

The paper proposes a new learning method for fuzzy cognitive maps, which makes it possible to encode an attractor into the map. The method is based on the principle of backpropagation through time known from the theory of artificial neural networks. Simulation results are presented to show how well the method performs. It is shown that the results are superior to those achieved using Hebbian learning approaches such as nonlinear Hebbian learning. Some lines for possible future research and development are given.

The paper discusses issues of information integration of design and technological preparation of production (DPP and TPP). The role of suggested methods for constructing 3D models of parts is noted, based on the use of unified and standard constructive and technological elements (CTE) and directional formation of a 3D model of a part taking into account CTE structural levels. The use of these methods makes it easier to transform models in solving process tasks, including for constructing models of operational workpieces, calculation of technological dimensions, design of control programs (CP) for CNC machines and coordinate measurement machines (CMM). The suggested methods are most efficiently applied under the conditions of implementation into production of multioperational digital technological processes (TP). © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper presents the main faults of brushless DC motors and their diagnostic possibilities. Due to the popularity gain of such devices in the past decade, the maintenance and diagnostic of such machines is getting more important. As the machines are used in various applications, they are often critical parts of devices. Due to this, the unexpected failures of such machines are undesired and are to be avoided. The main faults of the machines are listed, some possibilities of their monitoring and diagnostics have been addressed. The necessity of further study has been pointed out. © 2020 IEEE.

Analysis of changes in medical images is one of the most important areas of computer use, which ensures the progress of the diagnostic process at the moment. Along with the quality of visualization, automated diagnostic methods are being developed, CADs are being increasingly used. Today, medical imaging is the most common diagnostic tool in modern medical practice. The most relevant areas for the implementation of medical image analysis in connection with the specificity of the objects under study are methods based on mathematical methods for processing input information, for example, on a fractal analysis (analysis of self-similarity of image parts), which can be realized by calculating the fractal dimension and Hurst index. The obtained data in world practice become the basis for creating new algorithms for qualitative analysis and image processing for creating new algorithms. © 2019 IEEE.

Algorithms of evaluation battery state of charge (SoC) and power consumption should be implemented to electrical drive systems to control parameters of a battery. In the course of the work, the characteristic of discharge of the battery was obtained, the control system for a semiconductor step-up voltage converter for the battery management system (BMS) was developed, and the accuracy of the model was evaluated. A simulation model of the «PWM converter-DC drive» system with the battery was developed. Simulation results were compared with experimental data and conclusions were drawn about the possibility of determining the SoC of the battery. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper describes the interaction between Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech, Tallinn, Estonia) and ITMO University (St. Petersburg, Russia) based on recently signed agreement. The purpose of the agreement is to record the intention of TalTech and ITMO University to cooperate on implementing a double master's degree program, which involves confirmation of the master's educational level absorption and the award of master's degree and obtention of two diplomas, and to outline the organizational form, principles and terms of the implementation. The double degree Program is a two-year Master's program of 120 ECTS credit points. Its structure and content meets the requirements that both TalTech and ITMO University have established for their master's programs, in accordance with the government standards. Development and approval of the double degree Program is held by the Parties in accordance with the procedures established by them. This paper describes the procedure of implementation of a double-degree master program in mechatronics engineering. © 2020 IEEE.

For nonholonomic robots whose kinematics are described by a driftless control system with outputs a new Jacobian inverse and a Jacobian motion planning algorithm are proposed. This inverse is based on solving a Lagrange-type constrained optimization problem, generalizing the usual Jacobian pseudoinverse. A case study illustrates a potential applicability of the new algorithm to shaping the system's motion. © 2015 IEEE.
