We consider the problem of finding a trajectory of the road which is optimal in the sense of construction cost. Variational ideas lead us to the integral cost functional which should be minimized. The necessary optimality condition for the functional has a form of an integro-differential equation. The main goal of the paper is the numerical solution of this equation. We use linearization and shooting method to reduce the boundary value problem to an initial value one. The initial value problem is solved via FDM. Numerical examples are presented.

The optimal control problem with the minimization of a quadratic functional is solved for the process of heat transfer in rarefied media with heat-conduction viscosity. The process is described by the third order partial differential equation. The quality criterion is a quadratic functional. Applying Fourier method, we obtain integral representation of the solution of our boundary value problem for every admissible control. The condition imposed on the state of the system for the finite time allows reducing the problem to the one of moments. As a result, applying the theorem on orthogonal expansion of the normed space, we succeed to define the control parameter in analytical form.

Optimal feedback control problems based on continuous and/or discrete feedback on the object’s state are studied in the paper for dynamic, in the general case, nonlinear systems with lumped parameters. We assume that only a certain part of the phase vector components is controllable. In order to compensate for the inability to measure every component of the object's phase state, we suggest using the measured values of the phase vector’s observable components at the current and previous moments of time to compute the values of the synthesized control's parameters. Because the parameters of the synthesized control are dependent on a portion of the object's state due to this type of formation, ordinary differential equations with time-constant delay arguments in the phase state will be used to describe the process under consideration. Through reduction to a finite-dimensional optimization problem, the stated feedback control problem is solved numerically. With respect to the optimizable parameters, which are zonal values of the feedback parameters, we obtain formulas for the gradient of the reduced problem's objective functional. The necessary first-order optimality conditions can be formulated thanks to these formulas. They also enable us to numerically solve test model problems with the help of first-order optimization methods.
