This paper reports a controller design methodology for a differential drive wheeled mobile robot (DDWMR) model which considers both safety and stability properties of the robot's operation. The proposed methodology first constructs a stabilizing controller using control Lyapunov Function (CLF) concept and then generates a polynomial function-type reference trajectory to seamlessly connect the initial and final poses of the DDWMR. Subsequently, a control Barrier Function (CBF) based scheme is used to ensure the safety of the DDWMR movement in avoiding moving obstacles while driving on the constructed reference trajectory. By the proposed CLF-CBF integration, the proposed approach offers an efficient solution for autonomous navigation of DDWMR in the presence of moving obstacles while also addresses the challenges posed by its nonholonomic constraint. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is shown through simulations which demonstrate the robot's ability to perform safe and stable collision-free movement and navigation.

The development of the scientific publishing system has remarkably enhanced global accessibility to research findings and substantially increased the visibility and dissemination of academic publications. However, significant challenges still exist in effectively safeguarding the intellectual property rights of contributors, such as the unauthorized usage of materials, the complexity of enforcing intellectual property rights across various legal jurisdictions, and high instances of plagiarism and content misuse. Additionally, financial barriers related to open access may restrict the participation of economically disadvantaged researchers, potentially biasing scientific records towards more affluent research initiatives. To address these issues, a novel decentralized framework is formulated to ensure truly open access. This framework leverages blockchain for immutable record-keeping and clear attribution of authorship, to prevent unauthorized usage and plagiarism. Besides, it also utilizes a copyright-sharing model based on decentralized autonomous organizations and operations (DAOs), where smart contracts automatically enforce copyright and access policies to ensure fair compensation for authors and researchers. Furthermore, the copyright sharing model based on non-fungible tokens (NFT) and gradual ownership optimization (GOO) mechanism is proposed to ensure fair and accurate recognition and compensation for scholarly contributions. © 2024 IEEE.

Internet-of-Things technology (IoTs) have accelerated biosensor applications in all fields. Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)-based biosensor technologies in conjunction with smartphone detection have been adequate to cover the demands of mobile diagnostics. The ease of use, affordability, portability, high sensitivity, flexibility, and specificity demands of point-of-care detection can be achieved by low-cost electronic components, 3-dimensional printing technologies, capturing images of calorimetrically detected readouts made our system a promising approach for real-time point-of-detection in the field. In this study, we implemented a cloud service to our LAMP-based biosensor. We previously performed bacteria detection using colony-based LAMP device and now distributed the optical readouts of the assay using smartphones. We transferred the obtained image and results of the assays through cloud. Our user-friendly interface simplifies the data processing, it directly digitized the readouts and eliminates the need of data interpretation. © 2022 IEEE.

The HVAC system is one of the major power consuming equipment in buildings. Considering the effective setpoint temperature of each zone can increase efficiency in managing power usage in buildings, leading to the operating cost reduction. This paper presents the design of supervisory control (SC) for multi-zone HVAC systems that aims to minimize the total operating cost (TOC) and the thermal comfort cost (TCC). To minimize the TOC and TCC, both objectives are normalized and combined as a quadratic programming (QP) problem which can be efficiently solved. To achieve the design objective, two methods of SC are developed for multi-zone, namely, centralized SC and decentralized SC. We apply standard QP and sparse QP solvers using interior point method. The numerical results reveal that centralized SC performs better according to a tradeoff curve which TOC and TCC are lower. While both solvers give the same results, sparse solver can provide the solutions faster than interior point method. This paper demonstrates that centralized control is appropriate for implementation in multi-zones buildings and the sparse solver proves to be more suitable in the context of sparse QP problem.

Application of Robust control Toolbox for Time Delay Systems implemented in the Matlab system to the oscillating plant with uncertain time delay and astatism using the D-K iteration and algebraic approach. The algebraic approach combines the structured singular value, algebraic theory and algorithm of global optimization solving remaining issues in structured singular value framework. The algorithm for global optimization can be alternated with direct search methods such as Nelder-Mead simplex method giving solutions for problems with one local extreme. As a global optimization method, Differential Migration is used proving to be reliable in solving this type of problems. The D-K iteration represents a standard method in the structured singular value theory. The results obtained from the D-K iteration are compared with the algebraic approach.

Batik production in home industries needs support wastewater treatment in a limited space. Therefore, a modular-type, lab-scale wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with a capacity of 87.75 liters and a dimension of 1.5 m × 0.75 m × 1 m has been constructed. The WWTP combines three significant processes: equalization, neutralization, and adsorption. This study focuses on the monitoring systems for the pH neutralization process. The system uses four microprocessors in a Master/Slave architecture and the I2C protocols for data communication between processors. The measuring instruments include pH, temperature, turbidity, and flow rate sensors. The actuators consist of submersible and peristaltic pumps. The operating range of pH, temperature, turbidity, and flow rate sensors are 0-14, 25-81.44℃, 0-3000 NTU, and 6.49-20.84 ml/s respectively. The pumps work in Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) mode with an operating range of 125-225 PWM. All sensors and actuators operate linearly within the operating range with a correlation coefficient of 0.97-1. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In frequency domain, wavelet coefficient is one of the characteristics of ERG signal which is hidden in frequency-domain. This paper aims to develop a tool for analyzing the constituent frequencies and time of interest in the dog's ERG signal using wavelet analysis. We design a lowpass filter to reduce noise during the measurement of ERG response. ERG dataset was obtained for the light intensity series and their constituent frequencies are analyzed by using the continuous wavelet transform (CWT). The results show that, in time-domain, as light intensity increases, both amplitudes of a-wave and b-wave are higher. We can visualize the noise interference in the ERG signals. Then a lowpass filter is designed to attenuate the noise effect. The filtered signals have lower a-, and b-waves' amplitude which affect the important characteristics in time domain. Therefore, we choose to filter signal from 26ms onward, the main components are recovered, and the filtered signal becomes smoother. In frequency-domain, the peak magnitude of wavelet coefficients is increased as light intensity increases. © 2023 IEEE.

Electric vehicles (EV s) boast zero tailpipe emissions, directly improving air quality and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Despite the promise of EVs for sustainable transportation, their limited range is a key challenge. Regenerative braking is a promising approach for enhancing the driving range. This research proposes a study of Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic (IT2FL) control to improve regenerative braking efficiency in an electric trike. Employing IT2FL control for regenerative braking recovers 35.84% of energy, translating to a 91.053 km increase in driving range. The IT2FL method achieved a range of 50 km/kWh, representing a significant 41.7% improvement. Furthermore, utilizing the Nie-Tan Method reducer within the IT2FL framework could extend the range by an additional 2.3 km, resulting in a 3 % increase in energy recovery. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of IT2FL control in enhancing regenerative braking efficiency for the electric trike. © 2024 IEEE.

This letter is a brief summary of a series of IEEE TIV's decentralized and hybrid workshops (DHWs) on Federated Intelligence for Intelligent Vehicles. The discussed results are: 1) Different scales of large models (LMs) can be federated and deployed on IVs, and three types of federated collaboration between large and small models can be adopted for IVs. 2) Federated fine-tuning of LMs is beneficial for IVs data security. 3) The sustainability of IVs can be improved through optimizing existing models and continuous learning using federated intelligence. 4) LM-enhanced knowledge can make IVs smarter. The importance of smart garments is increasing day by day for entertainment, sports, medical and military fields. Both hard electronics and textile based soft electronics find application in these areas. In our previous study, we focused on crew loss detection system that was applicable for team sports such as sailing. We designed a two pieces electronic system in which a master system was fixed on the boat and a slave system was implemented in the sailing garments. This study brought a new requirement;the need of a waterproof case that would protect the electronic slave system from sea water in case the sailors fall overboard. As a result of this need, in this study, we have designed and tested waterproof pockets that could serve as waterproof carriers for the slave system of sailing garments. For this purpose, studies were carried out using two different approaches. In the first approach, 15 types of pockets were developed by using three different fabric materials and 5 different seam sealing techniques. These pocket prototypes were tested by exposing them to the water for 12 h. In the second approach, an electronic circuit was developed by using a humidity sensor to test the pocket samples those were immersed to water. According to the results of the first approach, samples containing polyester base fabric, polyurethane and polyester membrane and double-sided sealing tape gave the best results. By converting the best pocket design into a garment sleeve, the humidity sensor containing test apparatus was tested and measurements were taken successfully from the system © 2022.
