The fashion industry, with its myriad choices, often overwhelms consumers. Addressing this, AdaptiveCloset introduces a groundbreaking approach to tailoring clothing suggestions by harnessing the power of reinforcement learning (RL). Unlike conventional AI methodologies in a fashion that merely suggests based on past preferences, our system dynamically ad-justs using realtime user feedback, ensuring that recommendations remain relevant and personalized. Historically, AI's fusion into the fashion realm has witnessed multiple methodologies but conspicuously lacked the RL perspective. Our research stands at this juncture, aiming to redefine online shopping experiences. Through AdaptiveCloset, we envisage a scenario where online shoppers not only receive personalized recommendations but also feel a sense of involvement, thanks to the system's feedback-oriented adaptability. This responsiveness not only augments user engagement but provides actionable intelligence for businesses, bridging the gap between consumer desires and market offerings. In this study, our focus was to ensure the robustness and adaptability of the RL environment, positioning it as a potent tool for enhancing e-commerce interactions, optimizing sales strategies, and fortifying customer loyalty. © 2023 IEEE.

Structure learning of Bayesian networks using sparrow optimization algorithm

Bayesian networks are powerful analytical models in machine learning, used to represent probabilistic relationships among variables and create learning structures. These networks are made up of parameters that show conditional probabilities and a structure that shows how random variables interact with each other. The structure is shown by a directed acyclic graph. Despite the NP-hard nature of learning Bayesian network structures, there has been significant progress in improving the accuracy of approximation solutions. The main focus is on score-based search strategies, which make use of functions to evaluate network models and identify structures with high scores. This study is significantly focused on structure learning Bayesian networks using the Bayesian Dirichlet equivalent uniform scoring function and metaheuristic search strategies. To this end, this paper presents the sparrow optimization algorithm (SOA), a new metaheuristic algorithm derived from the foraging behavior of sparrows. SOA performs a concurrent optimization in the solution space by simultaneously performing a local and global search that leads to the discovery of near-optimal structures. The results from our experiments on several benchmark datasets show that SOA yields overall better performance than SA and greedy search algorithms. In particular, it is claimed that by applying the proposed approach of SOA, the convergence speed is significantly higher compared with the existing ones;F1 score is 0.35 and 0.05 for the Hamming distance with better results. Given these results, signed operators prove to be very efficient in SOA’s Bayesian network structure learning as a concept, especially for real-world use. © (2024), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). Runtime Backdoor Detection for Federated Learning via Representational Dissimilarity Analysis

Federated learning (FL), as a powerful learning paradigm, trains a shared model by aggregating model updates from distributed clients. However, the decoupling of model learning from local data makes FL highly vulnerable to backdoor attacks, where a single compromised client can poison the shared model. While recent progress has been made in backdoor detection, existing methods face challenges with detection accuracy and runtime effectiveness, particularly when dealing with complex model architectures. In this work, we propose a novel approach to detecting malicious clients in an accurate, stable, and efficient manner. Our method utilizes a sampling-based network representation method to quantify dissimilarities between clients, identifying model deviations caused by backdoor injections. We also propose an iterative algorithm to progressively detect and exclude malicious clients as outliers based on these dissimilarity measurements. Evaluations across a range of benchmark tasks demonstrate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods in detection accuracy and defense effectiveness. The Virtual Reality (VR) Semiconductor Laboratory, a computer-based virtual lab designed for training engineering students in semiconductor concepts, was evaluated to enhance user experience (UX) in virtual environments. A sample of 97 participants, including undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students, participated in the study. The User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) was developed to collect data from users to evaluate their experience with the VR lab. The results of the study showed that the participants had a positive experience with the VR learning environment. They found the experience to be enjoyable, easy to understand, and helpful in completing learning tasks. The majority of participants rated the experience as very easy or easy in terms of learning and understanding the material, enjoyment, ease of using the interface, comfort with body movement during learning, and assistance with tasks. Additionally, most participants rated the experience as very easy in terms of task completion and comfort with the VR experiment. The study found high reliability in terms of usability, indicating that the UEQ is a valid and reliable tool for assessing virtual laboratory usability. These findings suggest that virtual laboratories can be effective learning and training tools in various fields, such as science and engineering. This research highlights the potential of VR technology in improving the training and learning experience for students. © 2023 IEEE.

In a world where nearly everything we do depends on sight;it is ever more challenging for the unsighted to cope with it and lead a normal life without being reliant on the presence of a companion. Finding a mechanism to convey visual information to the brain is the most difficult part of the research as well as the development of efficient sensory replacement and augmentation systems. In this paper, we aim to propose Brain Sight as an innovative system to help blind people identifying and discovering things in front of them using vibro-tactile display for vision sensory substitution. Brain Sight is a wearable vest-like fabric containing small vibration motors that displays pulses to map the seen images on the Lower-back of the visually impaired. A deep labeling segmentation and edge detection techniques are applied to the captured image after preprocessing. A simple prototype is implemented and tested with volunteers. Thanks to neuroplasticity and the cognitive cortex inside humans' brain, the implemented vest showed promising results. Without the need for intensive training, Brain Sight enables blind to recognize different shapes and numbers. © IET Conference Proceedings 2022.

The era of cancer diagnosis and treatment can change dramatically through Artificial Intelligence (AI). The present paper looks into AI's transformative attributes alongside the barriers and constraints that need to be solved for clinical integration to be successful. We discuss how AI-assisted solutions can help target therapeutic regime investigation and speed up medical decision-making in different medical fields related to oncology. Next, we highlight the challenges that harnessing AI faces like data standardization, ethical matters, and the level of accuracy of the data and adaptability of AI models. In summary, we underline the necessity of international cooperation, the importance of XAI (explainable AI) for establishing trust, and the conduct of the research in a manner that involves clinical trials and real-time demonstration in patients to guarantee database safety and usefulness in cancer care. AI can change the treatment world of cancers by combatting these obstacles and moving onto new ways. Preterm deliveries are an important cause of mortality and morbidity in newborns. Accurate and early prediction of a premature delivery can prove helpful in providing proper medication and treatment. Recording of electrical activity known as Electrohysterogram (EHG) from the abdominal surface of pregnant women corresponds to the uterus contractions. A new direction is open using EHG signals for the diagnosis of preterm births. In this research, we present a new method for the accurate classification of preterm and term EHG signals. The proposed method first filters a three-channel EHG signal using bandpass filters. Next, we combined the filtered three-channel EHG into one signal using an accumulation operation. The accumulated EHG signal was post-processed through variational mode decomposition (VMD). VMD algorithm splits the input signal into finite modes using center frequencies known as intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). An energy-based intelligent signal reconstruction approach is designed to combine IMFs having an energy level above the computed threshold. Next, the reconstructed EHG signals were split into continuous windows, and time, frequency, and Hjorth features were extracted. These features were fused to construct a distinct feature representation and were reduced using the ReliefF algorithm. We trained an artificial neural network (ANN) to obtain 98.8 % average accuracy using 10-fold cross-validation. © 2022 IEEE.

Text classification is a technique for grouping articles into pre-defined categories. Prior to categorization, text documents have to be set up and organised in a form that is compatible with the data mining techniques. That has produced many term weighting techniques have been developed in the literature to improve the functionality of text categorization systems. This paper compares techniques for text classification based on when stop words are eliminated from the documents once and when they are not. We used an Arabic data set of 322 papers grouped into six subjects (health, politics, science, education, agriculture and finance) to research which is the influence of prior weighting of features approaches on classification outcomes with regard to accuracy, recall, precision, and F-measure values. Each document subset includes 50 documents, except the health one that includes 61. We carried out four experiments and checked results getting that only for precision, the term frequency feature weighting approach with stop word removal are more or less the same than for binary method. Moreover the conclusion for accuracy, recall and F-measure is that Feature weighting approach with stop word outperforms the Binary one. Additionally, if the phrase for weighting is the same for both methods, to remove stop word increases classification accuracy for all the experiments. © 2023 IEEE.

Today, financial technology is a part of consumer needs. Mobile payments are used to support daily transactions, so a study of factors that can support behavioral intention and mobile money use is conducted. This study examines the support of digital literacy, perceived security, and perceived compatibility of mobile payments in increasing behavioral intention and mobile money use. The research was conducted on mobile payment users in Bandung City (Indonesia), and 416 research participants were asked using a questionnaire. The research was conducted using a quantitative survey and was processed using the SmartPLS tool. Two tests, namely, the PLS Algorithm and Bootstrapping, were used to test the research model. Next, the research hypothesis testing was used to explain the results. The research results found positive support from digital literacy, perceived security, and perceived compatibility on mobile payment behavioral intention. However, only perceived compatibility can directly increase the use of mobile money. In line with the hypothesis test, behavioral intention can support increased mobile money use by digital payment users. The research findings explain the ability of behavioral intention to mediate support for digital literacy, perceived security, and perceived compatibility in mobile money use. © 2024 IEEE.

Designing embedding costs is pivotal in modern image steganography. Many studies have shown adjusting symmetric embedding costs to asymmetric ones can enhance steganographic security. However, most existing methods heavily depend on manually defined parameters or rules, limiting security performance improvements. To overcome this limitation, we introduce an advanced GAN-based framework that transitions symmetric costs to asymmetric ones without the need for the manual intervention seen in existing approaches, such as the detailed specification of cost modulation directions and magnitudes. In our framework, we firstly achieve symmetric costs for a cover image, which is randomly split into two sub-images, with part of the secret information embedded into one. Subsequently, we design a GAN model to adjust the embedding costs of the second sub-image to asymmetric, facilitating the secure embedding of the remaining secret information. To support our phased embedding approach, our GAN's discriminator incorporates two steganalyers with different tasks: distinguishing the generator's final output, i.e., the stego image, from both the input cover image and the partially embedded stego image, providing diverse guidance to the generator. In addition, we introduce a simple yet effective update strategy to ensure a stable training process. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our method significantly enhances security over existing symmetric steganography techniques, achieving state-of-the-art levels compared to other methods focused on embedding costs adjustments. Additionally, detailed ablation studies validate our approach's effectiveness. © 2024 ACM.
