While large visual models (LVM) demonstrated significant potential in image understanding, due to the application of large-scale pre-training, the Segment Anything Model (SAM) has also achieved great success in the field of image segmentation, supporting flexible interactive cues and strong learning capabilities. However, SAM’s performance often falls short in cross-domain and few-shot applications. Previous work has performed poorly in transferring prior knowledge from base models to new applications. To tackle this issue, we propose a task-adaptive auto-visual prompt framework, a new paradigm for Cross-dominan Few-shot segmentation (CD-FSS). First, a Multi-level Feature Fusion (MFF) was used for integrated feature extraction as prior knowledge. Besides, we incorporate a Class Domain Task-Adaptive Auto-Prompt (CDTAP) module to enable class-domain agnostic feature extraction and generate high-quality, learnable visual prompts. This significant advancement uses a unique generative approach to prompts alongside a comprehensive model structure and specialized prototype computation. While ensuring that the prior knowledge of SAM is not discarded, the new branch disentangles category and domain information through prototypes, guiding it in adapting the CD-FSS. Comprehensive experiments across four cross-domain datasets demonstrate that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art CD-FSS approach, achieving an average accuracy improvement of 1.3% in the 1-shot setting and 11.76% in the 5-shot setting. © 2024, CC BY.

New Bounds on the Accuracy of Majority Voting for Multi-Class Classification

Majority voting is a simple mathematical function that returns the value that appears most often in a set. As a popular decision fusion technique, the majority voting function (MVF) finds applications in resolving conflicts, where a number of independent voters report their opinions on a classification problem. Despite its importance and its various applications in ensemble learning, data crowd-sourcing, remote sensing, and data oracles for blockchains, the accuracy of the MVF for the general multi-class classification problem has remained unknown. In this paper, we derive a new upper bound on the accuracy of the MVF for the multi-class classification problem. More specifically, we show that under certain conditions, the error rate of the MVF exponentially decays toward zero as the number of independent voters increases. Conversely, the error rate of the MVF exponentially grows with the number of independent voters if these conditions are not met. We first explore the problem for independent and identically distributed voters where we assume that every voter follows the same conditional probability distribution of voting for different classes, given the true classification of the data point. Next, we extend our results for the case where the voters are independent but non-identically distributed. Using the derived results, we then provide a discussion on the accuracy of the truth discovery algorithms. We show that in the best-case scenarios, truth discovery algorithms operate as an amplified MVF and thereby achieve a small error rate only when the MVF achieves a small error rate, and vice versa, achieve a large error rate when the MVF also achieves a large error rate. In the worst-case scenario, the truth discovery algorithms may achieve a higher error rate than the MVF. Finally, we confirm our theoretical results using numerical simulations. The main objective of this work was to find the association rules between factors affecting user satisfaction in software project by using an association rule discovery technique. Data from 191 software projects were collected and association rules between 15 Selected factors were discovered by FP-growth algorithm. Primarily, 281 association rules were discovered. Rules that were not directly related to user satisfaction were filtered out by simple criteria. In the end, 11 final association rules that passed those criteria were obtained with an average confidence value of 65.30%. These rules can incorporated in the planning and administration of a software project to gain utmost user satisfaction © 2021 IEEE.

Split Learning without Local Weight Sharing To Enhance Client-side Data Privacy

Split learning (SL) aims to protect user data privacy by distributing deep models between the client-server and keeping private data locally. In SL training with multiple clients, the local model weights are shared among the clients for the local model updates. This paper first reveals data privacy leakage exacerbated by local weight sharing among the clients in SL through model inversion attacks. Then, to reduce the data privacy leakage issue, we propose and analyze privacy-enhanced SL (P-SL) (or SL without local weight sharing). We further propose a parallelized P-SL to expedite the training process by duplicating multiple server-side model instances without compromising accuracy. Finally, we explore P-SL with late participating clients and devise a server-side cache-based training method to address the forgetting phenomenon in SL when late clients join. The experiment results demonstrate that P-SL helps reduce up to 50\% of client-side data leakage, which essentially achieves a better privacy-accuracy trade-off than the current trend by using differential privacy mechanisms. Moreover, P-SL and its cache-based version achieve comparable accuracy to baseline SL under various data distributions, while incurring lower costs for computation and communication. Additionally, caching-based training in P-SL mitigates the negative effect of forgetting, stabilizes learning, and enables practical and low-complexity training in a dynamic environment with late-arriving clients. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

The research project focuses on prototyping an IoT (Internet of Things) system for measuring and monitoring the quality of the Wang River in Lampang Municipality. The system utilizes EC (Electrical Conductivity), pH, and temperature sensors connected to an ESP32 microcontroller with a custom-developed board. Additionally, the IoT system is supported by a solar cell system to provide power. The software programming is implemented using Arduino C++ on the PlatformIO platform, which is integrated with Visual Studio code. The IoT platform chosen for this project is ThingsBoard, specifically the community version. The research findings indicate that the utilization of IoT technology combined with the sensors has improved the prototype of a low-cost IoT monitoring system for assessing the quality of the Wang River in Lampang Municipality. © 2023 IEEE.

Cloud computing is providing IT services to its customer based on Service level agreements(SLAs).It is important for cloud service providers to provide reliable Quality of service(QoS)and to maintain SLAs *** service providers need to predict possible service violations before the emergence of an issue to perform remedial actions for *** users’major concerns;the factors for service reliability are based on response time,accessibility,availability,and *** this paper,we,therefore,experiment with the parallel mutant-Particle swarm optimization(PSO)for the detection and predictions of QoS violations in terms of response time,speed,accessibility,and *** paper also compares Simple-PSO and Parallel *** simulation results,it is observed that the proposed Parallel MutantPSO solution for cloud QoS violation prediction achieves 94%accuracy which is many accurate results and is computationally the fastest technique in comparison of conventional PSO technique.

The growing popularity of social media and the increase of other data sources led to more research interest in detecting mental illness with a particular focus on utilizing and fusing emotional information. Artificial intelligence techniques like natural language processing and others, have shown encouraging improvements in recognizing complex relationships in a wide range of textual data, including clinical notes, social media posts, and interviews. In this paper, we assess the different branches of artificial intelligence based on previous research in mental illness detection, discussing methods, trends, challenges, and future research directions.

Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems can leverage deep learning (DL) models to provide intelligent applications. However, the training process of such DL models tends to leak privacy when the training data contain sensitive operational and management information. Most studies about privacy-preserving DL require a trusted data collector and thus are not suitable in an untrusted environment. In this paper, we propose a distributed privacy-preserving framework for DL with edge-cloud computing, where direct privacy leakage and indirect privacy leakage of training data are both considered. First, a pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) is partitioned into two parts for limiting direct privacy leakage of raw data, namely the feature module and the classification module. The feature module consisting of the lower layers of the CNN is deployed on an edge server, which is used to attract the feature of raw data. The feature data is fed to the classification module consisting of the higher layers of the CNN, which is deployed on the cloud server to compute image classification tasks. Second, a perturbation module between the feature module and the classification module is designed for limiting indirect privacy leakage during feature data transmission. The perturbation module uses local differential privacy (LDP) to produce noise in the feature data. Third, to further improve the accuracy, we retrain the classification module with the randomized feature data from edge servers. Experimental results show that the proposed framework achieves high accuracy under low privacy budgets. © 2022 IEEE.

In today's interdisciplinary research society where researchers are interested to participate in more than one discipline and they collaborate across disciplines, it is essential to understand the domain-specific impact of scholars. This study explores the impact of scholars who work in multiple disciplines and predicts scientific impact using multiple features. A Miner dataset is selected as a testbed and 10 sub-domains of computer science are analyzed. Despite today's cross-discipline collaboration trend, there is a high number of scholars who work in a single domain as compared to those who work in multiple domains. Results show that among the 10 disciplines of computer science, 'Network Control' gained high impact in terms of received citations. Various features are used to predict the future impact and 'total papers' yield the highest R2 value followed by 'topic-based citations' and 'total citations'. © 2021 IEEE.
