Anomaly detection is a popular research topic in Artificial Intelligence and has been widely applied in network security, financial fraud detection, and industrial equipment failure detection. Isolation forest based methods are the base algorithms to detect anomalies in these scenarios for their simplicity and efficiency, which has been further exploited with multi-folk trees and learning mechanisms to realize the optimal isolation forest for high detection accuracy. However, the optimal isolation forest is time-consuming with the learning mechanisms, resulting in the task failing of time-constrained applications. Moreover, the original optimal isolation forest fails to construct the optimal tree structure restricted by the time complexity. To address the above challenges, we propose an efficient anomaly detection method called EEIF, which realizes the real e-folk structure of the optimal isolation forest in our practical algorithm design. Specifically, we design a distribution that perfectly matches the e-branch theory to construct the optimal isolation forest. Then, we design an FR clustering scheme to achieve fast training of the isolation forest with learning to hash and provide related proofs of accuracy and efficiency. Besides, a parallel algorithm is integrated into our method to reduce prediction time. Finally, extensive experiments are conducted on a large amount of real-world datasets and the results demonstrate that our method significantly improves efficiency while ensuring effectiveness, compared with the state-of-the-art methods.

Context: A number of secondary studies in terms of systematic literature reviews and systematic mapping studies exist in the area of mobile application software ***: The main focus of of this paper is to provide an overview and analysis of these secondary studies of mobile app software engineering for researchers and ***: We conducted a systematic tertiary study following the guidelines by Kitchenham et al. to classify and synthesize secondary studies in this area. Results: After going through several filtration steps, we identified 22 secondary studies addressing numerous software software engineering phases, such as initiation, requirements engineering, design, development and testing. The majority of included studies focused on testing and design phases. Further, we identified specific research topics addressed by included studies: usability evaluation, test automation, context-aware testing, cloud-based development, architectural models, effort and size estimation models, defect prediction, and GUI testing. Regarding the trend in mobile app development focus, we found that the trend is moving towards more specific areas of mobile application software engineering such as architectural design models, context-aware testing, testing of non-functional requirements, mobile cloud computing, and intelligent mobile applications. Conclusions: Mobile application software engineering is an active research area with a number of secondary studies covering numerous research topics. The area of mobile application software engineering can benefit from additional research resulting from primary and secondary studies targeting the evolution, maintenance, requirements engineering, and cross-platform mobile application development. © 2023, The Authors. Air quality forecasting is critical for environmental monitoring and public health, and in this study, we propose a hybrid approach utilizing Gooseneck Barnacle Optimization (GBO) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to enhance predictive accuracy. The air quality dataset, comprising pollutant concentrations (CO, NOx, benzene) and meteorological factors (temperature, humidity), is sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. GBO is employed to fine-tune the ANN’s hyperparameters (especially the weight and bias), as well as the number of layers, neurons, and activation functions, to improve regression-based forecasting. The GBOANN model achieves a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.562 and a Root Mean Squared Percentage Error (RMSPE) of 5.63%, outperforming other metaheuristic methods like BMO, SSA, DA, MVO, and EMA. This study demonstrates the GBO-ANN model’s potential for accurate real-time air quality forecasting, offering a robust, sustainable solution.

Understanding human personality traits is significant as it helps in decision making related to consumers’ behavior, career counselling, team building and top candidates’ selection for recruitment. Among various traits, openness is essential as it shows both diverse aspects of sensitive nature or intuitive nature. The individuals having a sensing nature tends to be more practical and prefer to focus on concrete information whereas the users having intuitive trait type is characterized by a focus on abstract ideas, creative thinking and future-oriented perspectives. In this research work, we aim to explore diverse natural language processing (NLP) based features and apply state of the art deep learning algorithms for openness trait prediction. Using standard Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) dataset, we propose the use of the latest deep features of sentence embeddings which captures contextual semantics of the content to be used with deep learning models. For comparison, we explore textual features of Frequency-Inverse Document (TF-IDF) and parts of speech (POS) tagging with machine learning models and deep features of word2vec and global vectors for word representation (GloVe) with deep learning models. The comprehensive empirical analysis reveals that TF-IDF used with gradient boosting achieves high accuracy of 90% whereas, the deep feature of sentence embeddings when used and with deep model bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) achieves 90.5% accuracy. The best results have been achieved using the latest Transformer-based DistilBERT, which achieves the highest accuracy of 92% outperforming the existing studies in relevant literature. Learning the discourse structures of news articles is vital for obtaining valuable structural information around main events, which has been shown useful for many natural language processing applications. This paper proposes the extraction of graphs explicitly representing the discourse structure, coreference structure, and semantic similarities within a document. Concept embeddings are then updated using a weighted combination of feature embeddings, modeled after capsule networks, and resulting in improved context-dependent representation of the content of each news article. Experimental tests on the NewsDiscourse dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Understanding semantic scene segmentation of urban scenes captured from the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) perspective plays a vital role in building a perception model for UAV. With the limitations of large-scale densely labeled data, semantic scene segmentation for UAV views requires a broad understanding of an object from both its top and side views. Adapting from well-annotated autonomous driving data to unlabeled UAV data is challenging due to the cross-view differences between the two data types. Our work proposes a novel Cross-View Adaptation (CROVIA) approach to effectively adapt the knowledge learned from on-road vehicle views to UAV views. First, a novel geometry-based constraint to cross-view adaptation is introduced based on the geometry correlation between views. Second, cross-view correlations from image space are effectively transferred to segmentation space without any requirement of paired on-road and UAV view data via a new Geometry-Constraint Cross-View (GeiCo) loss. Third, the multi-modal bijective networks are introduced to enforce the global structural modeling across views. Experimental results on new cross-view adaptation benchmarks introduced in this work, i.e., SYNTHIA → UAVID and GTA5 → UAVID, show the State-of-the-Art (SOTA) performance of our approach over prior adaptation methods. Hypertension is one of the most common diseases in Jordan. It is one of the main reasons of death among Jordanian adult citizens. Worldwide, nearly 13% of all deaths are due to Hypertension with nearly 8 million deaths yearly. Hence, this research is interested in the early prediction of this disease among Jordanian people. To achieve this main objective, Machine Learning (ML) is utilized through a large number of classification models and considering five well-known evaluation metrics. These classification models have been trained on a primary dataset that has been collected for the purpose of the research. The results revealed that Random Forest, Random Committee, and MultilayerPerceptron are the best classification models to handle the task of the early prediction of Hypertension in Jordan.

Process discovery algorithms incorporating domain knowledge can have varying levels of user involvement. It ranges from fully automated algorithms to interactive approaches where the user makes critical decisions about the process model. Designing domain knowledge using process discovery techniques faces various challenges. These challenges could cause some issues with existing approaches. Acquiring domain knowledge with domain experts, integrating domain knowledge with process data, scalability to handle large complex data sets, and ensuring data quality are examples of these challenges. In this survey, we assess recent work with varying levels of automation in process discovery to enhance the analysis and understanding of business processes within an organization. Current work can be classified into two categories: fully automated or semi-automated process discovery. We conclude that semi-automated process discovery gives a better opportunity for involving users. Also, the use of deep learning algorithms in automation gives better performance than machine learning algorithms.

This study evaluates federated learning models' performance compared to centralized models using the MNIST and CIFAR-10 datasets. Four models were tested: two Federated Learning models and two centralized models. The evaluation focused on accuracy, training rounds, and CO2 emissions, to optimize convergence and reducing energy consumption while maintaining strong model performance. The results showed that Federated learning models outperformed centralized models, with the Federated Learning MNIST model achieving 98.79% accuracy compared to 87.93% for the centralized model. Also, the accuracy of the Federated Learning CIFAR-10 model achieved 91.20% accuracy, exceeding the centralized model’s 90.14%. The most accuracy improvements happened in the early training rounds. An adjusted hill-climbing technique was used to the centralized models, decreasing the number of iterations and CO2 emissions without significantly reducing accuracy.

This study aims at designing Map Reduce and federated learning-based asthma prediction model for adolescent to provide answers to the problems associated with the existing asthma prediction model for adolescent. This study leveraged on two diverse datasets: the Nigerian Hospital Asthma dataset and the National Survey of Children Health dataset for benchmarking purposes. Symmetrical uncertainty and normalization interaction were employed for feature selection. The model was trained using Federated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Enabler (FATE) and complemented with XGBoost model and one central server for federated algorithm averaging. The study was implemented with python programming language on Google Collaboratory environment. The results of the analysis showed considerable high accuracy of 0.98, precision (0.98%), recall (0.98%) and F1-socre (0.99%) for the asthmatic class and precision of 0.98%, recall of 0.98%, as well as F1-score of 0.99% for the non-asthmatic class. The implemented model was benchmark with the existing asthma prediction models in the literature. Simulated attack was also performed using implemented model with and without Map Reduce. This study concludes that the researchers’ model has the potentials to outperform some of the existing machine learning models on asthma prediction in adolescent, thereby facilitating collaborative sharing of the model with other hospitals, protect the patient information from leakage, meeting the criteria of healthcare data protection regulation as well as beneficial for enhancing the security of the dataset.
