The majority of prevailing image fusion methods employ a global strategy, often resulting in a reduction of contrast. In this study, we propose an image fusion approach (FusionNGFPE), specifically tailored to the structural characteristics of infrared (IR) imagery. We introduce a contrast equalization algorithm based on the Fourth-order Partial Differential Equation (FPDE) to effectively enhance background regions. Recognizing the inherent disparities between IR and visible (VIS) images, we devise a hybrid fusion strategy leveraging the Expectation Maximization algorithm (EM) and Principal Component Analysis algorithm (PCA). Comparative analysis against state-of-the-art fusion methods demonstrates the superior performance of our proposed algorithm in both qualitative and quantitative assessments. Additionally, to assess the practical applicability of FusionNGFPE, we integrate the fusion framework into the RGBT target tracking task utilizing the VOT-RGBT and OTCBVS datasets. Through comprehensive comparative experiments, we ascertain that the FusionNGFPE framework seamlessly integrates with the tracking task, significantly enhancing tracking accuracy across diverse scenarios. © 2024, The Authors. It is of paramount importance to enhance medical practices, given how important it is to protect human life. Medical therapy can be accelerated by automating patient prediction using machine learning techniques. To double the efficiency of classifiers, several preprocessing strategies must be adopted for their crucial duty in this field. Feature selection (FS) is one tool that has been used frequently to modify data and enhance classification outcomes by lowering the dimensionality of datasets. Excluded features are those that have a poor correlation coefficient with the label class, that is, they have no meaningful correlation with classification and do not indicate where the instance belongs. Along with the recurring features, which show a strong association with the remainder of the features. Contrarily, the model being produced during training is harmed, and the classifier is misled by their presence. This causes overfitting and increases algorithm complexity and processing time. The pattern is made clearer by FS, which also creates a broader classification model with a lower chance of overfitting in an acceptable amount of time and algorithmic complexity. To optimize the FS process, building wrappers must employ metaheuristic algorithms (MAs) as search algorithms. The best solution, which reflects the best subset of features within a particular medical dataset that aids in patient diagnosis, is sought in this study using the Snake Optimizer (SO). The swarm-based approaches that SO is founded on have left it with several general flaws, like local minimum trapping, early convergence, uneven exploration and exploitation, and early convergence. By employing the cosine function to calculate the separation between the present solution and the ideal solution, the logarithm operator was paired with SO to better the exploitation process and get over these restrictions. Adversarial domain adaptation has achieved impressive performances for unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA). However, existing adversarial UDA methods often rely on multiple domain discriminators to capture diverse patterns, which limit their scalability and resulting in dispersed features. To address these issues, we propose a novel method called Class-aware Prototypical Adversarial Network (CaPAN), which efficiently extracts transferable and discriminative features. Specifically, our class-aware adversarial learning employs a single multi-class discriminator to capture various patterns, aligning class-level features. Furthermore, to enhance the discriminative ability of our model, we introduce a prototypical domain discriminator to enhance the discriminatively of the learned features by aligning target sample towards prototypes (centers of each class), resulting in a more compact feature space. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of CaPAN, which can also be integrated as a regularization technique for existing methods to further improve their performance. FR-Net:A Light-weight FFT Residual Net For Gaze Estimation

Gaze estimation is a crucial task in computer vision, however, existing methods suffer from high computational costs, which limit their practical deployment in resource-limited environments. In this paper, we propose a novel lightweight model, FR-Net, for accurate gaze angle estimation while significantly reducing computational complexity. FR-Net utilizes the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to extract gaze-relevant features in frequency domains while reducing the number of parameters. Additionally, we introduce a shortcut component that focuses on the spatial domain to further improve the accuracy of our model. Our experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves substantially lower gaze error angles (3.86 on MPII and 4.51 on EYEDIAP) compared to state-of-the-art gaze estimation methods, while utilizing 17 times fewer parameters (0.67M) and only 12% of FLOPs (0.22B). Furthermore, our method outperforms existing lightweight methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency for the gaze estimation task. These results suggest that our proposed approach has significant potential applications in areas such as human-computer interaction and driver assistance systems. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Social media is a crucial aspect of modern society, shaping global communication and information exchange. Social media slang encompasses informal language expressions, abbreviations, and unconventional words on these platforms, serving purposes such as concise communication and identity establishment. Data analytics from social media slang plays a vital role in providing real-time trends, enhancing sentiment analysis, and improving the accuracy of predictive models by capturing evolving linguistic trends. This study aims to address gaps in existing social media slang analytics by proposing a three-step process for extracting and validating domain-specific social media slang terms, specifically focusing on the domain of anxiety prediction in the context of mental health. The proposed approach involves the identification of relevant users, extraction of social media slang terms, and validation by subject matter experts. A pilot study is conducted in the domain of anxiety prediction, employing a self-prepared questionnaire and involving participants aged 13-14 from schools in Selangor, Malaysia. The pilot study identifies ten social media slang terms associated with anxiety, validated by subject matter experts who are licensed mental health practitioners. The slang terms exhibit varying prevalence levels among adolescents, with some terms absent from popular slang dictionaries like Urban Dictionary. The findings highlight the need for extracting slang terms from pertinent users and subject matter expert validation in incorporating social media slang into more appropriate predictive analytics.

IoT(Internet of Things)devices are being used more and more in a variety of businesses and for a variety of tasks,such as environmental data collection in both civilian and military *** are a desirable attack target for malware intended to infect specific IoT devices due to their growing use in a variety of applications and their increasing computational and processing *** this study,we investigate the possibility of detecting IoT malware using recurrent neural networks(RNNs).RNNis used in the proposed method to investigate the execution operation codes of ARM-based Internet of Things apps(OpCodes).To train our algorithms,we employ a dataset of IoT applications that includes 281 malicious and 270 benign pieces of *** trained model is then put to the test using 100 brand-new IoT malware samples across three separate LSTM *** exposure was not previously conducted on these *** newly crafted malware samples with 2-layer neurons had the highest accuracy(98.18%)in the 10-fold cross validation experiment.A comparison of the LSTMtechnique to other machine learning classifiers shows that it yields the best results.

With artificial intelligence (AI) being well established within the daily lives of research communities, we turn our gaze toward an application area that appears intuitively unsuited for probabilistic decision-making: the area of formal methods (FM). FM aim to provide sound and understandable reasoning about problems in computer science, which seemingly collides with the black-box nature that inhibits many AI approaches. However, many researchers have crossed this gap and applied AI techniques to enhance FM approaches. As this dichotomy of FM and AI sparked our interest, we conducted a systematic mapping study to map the current landscape of research publications. In this study, we investigate the previous five years of applied AI to FM (2019–2023), as these correspond to periods of high activity. This investigation results in 189 entries, which we explore in more detail to find current trends, highlight research gaps, and give suggestions for future research. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The urgent need for early detection and intervention in colorectal cancer highlights the importance of automating colorectal polyp detection. Despite the use of deep learning techniques for polyp detection from medical images, these methods often struggle with issues such as skewed data distribution and class imbalances. In this study, we introduce PolyLite, a lightweight transformer-based model designed to balance performance and efficiency. PolyLite features a custom SegFormer encoder that takes advantage of its lightweight design, and a decoder that uses a multi-scale attention network (MA-NET) to achieve an optimal balance between accuracy and efficiency. To improve accuracy and reduce false negatives, we incorporate a reverse attention layer that effectively counteracts input mask attention during training. This refocuses the model's efforts to better learn non-polyp regions. PolyLite undergoes a two-stage training process, beginning with pre-training on the ImageNet dataset and then fine-tuning on the Kvasir-SEG dataset. We conduct rigorous evaluations on three complex datasets: CVC-ClinicDB, CVC-ColonDB, and ETIS-LaribPolypDB. Empirical results demonstrate PolyLite's superiority over existing techniques, as evidenced by its performance in terms of Intersection over Union and Dice scores. This validates its effectiveness and scalability in polyp segmentation, making complex and computationally intensive architectures unnecessary.

The current paper belongs to a class of research works that aim to find analytic and semi-analytic solutions to optimal power flow problems that involve storage systems. The main contribution of this work is a rigorous proof for the uniqueness of the ``shortest-path" optimal solution, which is a cornerstone in this class of algorithms, and relies upon a graphical design procedure presented in an earlier work. The proof builds upon five consequential lemmas, each provides a different characteristic of the optimal solution. These characteristics are then merged to prove the uniqueness of the optimal solution, which is given by the shortest path of the generated energy within bounds. The presented proof provides not only a sound theoretical foundation for this class of algorithms, but may also help develop additional analytic solutions for more complex optimal control problems involving storage systems. © 2024, The Authors. In this paper, a new n-MOSFET layout with multi-finger Z gate is proposed to reduce the total ionizing dose (TID) effect. In addition to the proposed layout, multi-finger single gate layout is also simulated using Sentaurus TCAD in 3D. Firstly, drain current - gate voltage curves of both layouts are compared in order to verify the radiation hardening ability of the proposed layout. Secondly, we compare TID responses by extracting threshold voltages and leakage currents from both layouts. Thirdly, the finger number is investigated for both layouts because it is an important factor for multi-finger layout. The results have indicated that the finger number significantly affects the multi-finger single gate layout, whereas the proposed multi-finger Z gate layout is relatively little affected by the finger number in radiation environment. © 2022 IEEE.
