Stylometry-driven framework for Urdu intrinsic plagiarism detection: a comprehensive analysis using machine learning, deep learning, and large language models

Detecting plagiarism in documents is a well-established task in natural language processing (NLP). Broadly, plagiarism detection is categorized into two types (1) intrinsic: to check the whole document or all the passages have been written by a single author;(2) extrinsic: where a suspicious document is compared with a given set of source documents to figure out sentences or phrases which appear in both documents. In the pursuit of advancing intrinsic plagiarism detection, this study addresses the critical challenge of intrinsic plagiarism detection in Urdu texts, a language with limited resources for comprehensive language models. Acknowledging the absence of sophisticated large language models (LLMs) tailored for Urdu language, this study explores the application of various machine learning, deep learning, and language models in a novel framework. A set of 43 stylometry features at six granularity levels was meticulously curated, capturing linguistic patterns indicative of plagiarism. The selected models include traditional machine learning approaches such as logistic regression, decision trees, SVM, KNN, Naive Bayes, gradient boosting and voting classifier, deep learning approaches: GRU, BiLSTM, CNN, LSTM, MLP, and large language models: BERT and GPT-2. This research systematically categorizes these features and evaluates their effectiveness, addressing the inherent challenges posed by the limited availability of Urdu-specific language models. Two distinct experiments were conducted to evaluate the impact of the proposed features on classification accuracy. In experiment one, the entire dataset was utilized for classification into intrinsic plagiarized and non-plagiarized documents. Experiment two categorized the dataset into three types based on topics: moral lessons, national celebrities, and national events. It has been widely proven that Augmented Reality (AR) brings numerous benefits in learning experiences, including enhancing learning outcomes and motivation. However, not many studies investigate how different forms of multimedia help in motivating students in AR learning experiences. Instead of examining whether AR can be used in education to motivate students, our research focused on investigating how and when AR learning experiences influence motivation when integrated with multimedia learning. A between-subjects 2 × 3 factorial design was employed in this study. The first factor was the type of AR (static-AR or animated-AR), and the second factor was the modality of the description (concurrent narration-text, text only, or narration only). Six experimental conditions were designed, each equipped with different versions of AR learning applications with various combinations of multimedia formats. One hundred and forty-four computer science and information technology undergraduate students (70 males and 74 females) were randomly assigned to one of the six experimental conditions. data collection was conducted with questionnaires, and data were analyzed using univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results show that attention and satisfaction subscales of the ARCS motivational model can be enhanced with 3D animation implemented in AR. Descriptions delivered with concurrent narration and written text in AR are effective in enhancing motivation as well. Job Resumes Recommendation using Integration of Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix Feature Selection and Convolutional Neural Network Multi-label Text Classification

The manual analysis of job resumes poses specific challenges, including the time-intensive process and the high likelihood of human error, emphasizing the need for automation in content-based recommendations. Recent advancements in deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for Multi-label Text Classification (MLTC), offer a promising solution for addressing these challenges through artificial intelligence. While CNN is renowned for its robust feature extraction capabilities, it faces specific challenges such as managing high-dimensional data and poor data interpretability. To address these limitations, this study employs the Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix (FDM) feature selection technique to determine the relevance of skills for each job vacancy. FDM assigns weights to the features of each job category and ranks their relevance based on the highest scores, which are then utilized in the MLTC CNN model. The integration of FDM and MLTC CNN serves as the foundation for generating content-based recommendations derived from key features in job resumes. This study produces a content-based job recommendation system that displays the top three job categories, accompanied by explanations of the skills supporting each selected category. These recommendations also consider cosine similarity values between analyzed items and the integrated results of FDM and MLTC CNN. The application of FDM for feature weighting has been proven to enhance multi-label text classification outcomes by providing better insights during the feature selection process. With a recall of 97.26%, precision of 94.81%, and accuracy of 98.58%, the MLTC model integrating FDM feature selection and CNN demonstrates robust performance characteristics in content-based job recommendation tasks. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) is one of the paradigm changes in cybersecurity, from the traditional perimeter-based model to perimeterless. This article studies the core concepts of ZTA, its beginning, a few use cases and future trends. Emphasising the always-verify and least privilege access, some key tenets of ZTA have grown to be integration technologies like Identity Management, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and real-time analytics. ZTA is expected to strengthen cloud environments, education, work environments (including from home) while controlling other risks like lateral movement and insider threats. Despite ZTA's benefits, it comes with challenges in the form of complexity, performance overhead and vulnerabilities in the control plane. These require phased implementation and continuous refinement to keep up with evolving organisational needs and threat landscapes. Emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will further automate policy enforcement and threat detection in keeping up with dynamic cyber threats. © 2025 IEEE.

Optimised EfficientNet for multi-class skin cancer diagnosis: integrating chaotic grey wolf algorithms

The detection of skin cancer holds paramount importance worldwide due to its impact on global health. While deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) have shown potential in this domain, current approaches often struggle with fine-grained variability in skin lesion features, imbalanced datasets and inadequate augmentation. The objectives of our study encompass building a model that not only enhances accuracy but also reduces training time and cost, improves dimensionality reduction during classification and segmentation, and is evaluated on larger datasets for robustness. We enhance the learning process using an improved nature-inspired optimisation algorithm tailored specifically for skin cancer classification tasks. This algorithm optimises model parameters to maximise classification accuracy while minimising computational overhead. Our proposed architecture leverages a gold standard dermatological image dataset meticulously curated and validated by experts. This dataset spans eight distinct classes, including actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, nevus, and others, ensuring a diverse representation of skin conditions. The balanced class distribution in the training and test sets enables fair evaluation and robustness assessment of our deep learning models. The developed algorithm showcases novelty in its approach, contributing to advancements in early skin cancer detection technologies. This study introduces an optimised deep learning model designed for the early detection of skin cancer, achieving a notable accuracy of 97.48%. Our study aims to contribute significantly to the medical field by providing a reliable and efficient tool for dermatologists and healthcare practitioners to assist in diagnosing skin conditions accurately and promptly, ultimately improving patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. © (2025), (Indian Academy of sciences). Reliable artificial intelligence (AI) systems not only propose a challenge on providing intelligent services with high quality for customers but also require customers' privacy to be protected as much as possible during process of the services. Given the ultrahigh computing load brought by deep-learning-based intelligent services to edge devices and the ultralong distance between edge and cloud, low-latency requirement of intelligent services is hard to meet in single edge computing or cloud computing. Edge-cloud collaborative inference of deep neural networks (DNNs) is considered a feasible solution to the problem. However, former work has not reduced the inference latency to the greatest extent and has not considered privacy protection in distributed systems. To solve the problem, we first establish a novel queue mechanism. Then, the convolution layer split decisions are made based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to realize the parallel inference of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for inference latency reduction. Next, for each CNN, the partition decision is made based on brute force algorithm to further reduce inference latency and protect customers' privacy. Finally, simulation results show that our method performs better than the existing other methods. © 2020 IEEE.

In wireless body sensor networks (WBSNs), ensuring secure and efficient key distribution is critical, particularly given the limited computational and energy resources of the sensors. Existing methods often struggle to balance security with these resource constraints, especially in environments involving physiological data such as acceleration (ACC) and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. For the first time, this study proposes a novel hybrid approach that integrates fuzzy commitment with ACC signal noise and ECG features for efficient key generation and distribution in WBSNs. By employing a low-pass filter to process ACC signal noise, we generated highly random binary sequences (BSs), leveraging the inherent randomness of the signal for secure key generation. Concurrently, an optimized coding scheme was built for ECG feature construction to ensure secure key distribution between devices. Extensive experiments, including entropy analysis and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) statistical tests, confirm the robustness and security of our method. The proposed scheme achieves a false acceptance rate (FAR) of 5.23%, demonstrating superior performance across multiple databases in comparison to benchmark approaches. This novel dual-key generation strategy that combines the unpredictability of ACC noise with the individual-specific traits of ECG signals can significantly enhance the security, applicability, and versatility of WBSNs. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Federated Learning (FL) has progressed, providing a distributed mechanism where data need not be consolidated, thereby enhancing the privacy and security of sensitive healthcare data. Recent advancements in multimodal machine learning have empowered the development of accurate and robust AI systems in the medical domain, especially within centralized database systems. Multimodal federated learning (MFL) combines federated learning’s distributed nature with the flexibility to work with various data types. This capability is particularly relevant in medical contexts, where healthcare data can range from electronic health records (EHR) to radiology imaging, genomic data, and wearable device information. The key advantage of MFL in medical settings is the ability to create robust models without centralizing sensitive patient information. However, there are no existent research to comprehensively review the application status of MFL in smart healthcare systems from the modal-centric aspect. Motivated by this, we explore the systematization of knowledge about multimodal federated learning on medical data, find the challenges of this area and related solutions. We present a third version of the PraK system designed around an effective text-image and image-image search model. The system integrates sub-image search options for localized context search for CLIP and image color/texture and interfaces tailored to specific task types. A user study shows the benefits of sub-image search in homogeneous video collections. Q-Rung Orthopair Fuzzy Sets-Enhanced FMEA for COVID-19 Risk Assessment

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a widely used tool for risk analysis, primarily to identify risk factors affecting system quality. Due to the limitations of the traditional FMEA model, several recent models incorporating advanced fuzzy set extensions have been developed to enhance the reliability of risk assessment outcomes. However, most of these models limit expert flexibility in expressing preferences and often overlook the impact of unequal expert weights and the stability of risk ranking results. This study introduces a new FMEA model based on Q-Rung Orthopair Fuzzy Sets (Q-ROFSs), termed Q-ROFSs-FMEA. Q-ROFSs, an extension of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, introduce a new linguistic term. The Q-ROFSs-FMEA model considers the unequal weights of experts, enabling a dynamic representation of expert preferences. These weights and the linguistic evaluation of risk factors are integrated through an aggregation operator, facilitating consensus among experts. The model is applied to a case study on COVID-19 risk factors, revealing that ‘older age’ (risk priority number 0.000012) is the highest risk factor, while ‘gender’ (risk priority number -0.0037) is the lowest. It is found that the ranking of risk factors determined by the Q-ROFSs-FMEA model is obtained as FM1 FM3 FM6 FM4 FM5 FM7 FM8 FM2 . Furthermore, a comparative analysis indicates consistent ranking results across different models, demonstrating the reliability of the proposed model.
