A secure quantum homomorphic encryption ciphertext retrieval scheme

In a recent paper (Gong et al. Quantum Inf Process 19:3, 2020), a novel ciphertext retrieval scheme based on the Grover algorithm and quantum homomorphic encryption was presented. In this scheme, when the server performs the operation of marking the solution on the user’s encrypted state in the Grover iteration, it needs to remove many gate-errors generated in the homomorphic evaluation of the T gate. And the server could judge this specific solution from the quantum circuit of marking the solution. It makes this scheme unable to achieve the low-cost and secure ciphertext retrieval. Therefore, we improve the Gong et al.’s scheme and propose a secure quantum homomorphic encryption ciphertext retrieval scheme. In our scheme, the trusted third party is introduced to cooperate with the server to execute the Grover algorithm. In each Grover iteration, the trusted third party can quickly mark the solution on the plaintext state, encrypt the marked state, and transmit it to the server. Then the server performs the remaining operations of this Grover iteration on the encrypted state. The trusted third party finally decrypts the iterated state. This cooperative approach ensures that the number of auxiliary qubits required and extra quantum gates executed in our scheme are lower than the Gong et al.’s scheme. By analyzing the security of our scheme, we confirm that the server and the trusted third party will not be informed of this solution. Thus, our scheme realizes the secure ciphertext retrieval with low computational overhead. We utilize IBM’s Qiskit framework to simulate our scheme, and the experimental result shows that our scheme is correct. It is worth noting that the low-cost and secure ciphertext retrieval will play a crucial role in modern information security and privacy protection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Cloud-assisted Internet of Things (IoT) is a new paradigm to compensate for the disadvantage of limited resources in IoT and extend the functional boundary of IoT. How to preserve the data privacy while identifying the data source in cloud-assisted IoT is a huge challenge and many cryptographic primitives such as matchmaking encryption (ME) are hence introduced to reach this goal. However, we observe that these tools fail to deal with some rigorous cases in which the data owner does not want anyone to disclose the entire data and even authorized users can only obtain a specified part. In this article, to address such issue, we design a privacy-preserving data computing system with bilateral access control (PDCS-BAC) for cloud-assisted IoT based on a new primitive called identity-based matchmaking functional encryption (IB-MFE). We give the formal definition and security model of IB-MFE, then present two concrete IB-MFE schemes for inner-product function. Thus, PDCS-BAC manages to simultaneously provide flexible privacy computation with enhanced data privacy, bilateral access control, and data authenticity. Finally, we conduct comprehensive performance evaluations to demonstrate the practicability of our schemes for cloud-assisted IoT. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Counterfeiting is still a pervasive global issue, affecting multiple industries and hindering industrial innovation, while causing substantial financial losses, reputational damage, and risks to consumer safety. From luxury goods and pharmaceuticals to electronics and automotive parts, counterfeit products infiltrate supply chains, leading to a loss of revenue for legitimate businesses and undermining consumer trust. Traditional anti-counterfeiting measures, such as holograms, serial numbers, and barcodes, have proven to be insufficient as counterfeiters continuously develop more sophisticated replication techniques. As a result, there is a growing need for more advanced, secure, and reliable methods to prevent counterfeiting. This paper presents a novel, holistic anti-counterfeiting platform that integrates Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled mobile applications with blockchain technology to provide an innovative, secure, and consumer-friendly authentication mechanism. Our approach addresses key gaps in existing solutions by incorporating dynamic product identifiers, which make replication significantly more difficult. The system enables consumers to verify the authenticity of products instantly using their smartphones, enhancing transparency and trust in the supply chain. Blockchain technology plays a crucial role in our proposed solution by providing an immutable, decentralized ledger that records product authentication data. This ensures that product verification records cannot be tampered with or altered, adding a layer of security that is absent in conventional systems. Additionally, NFC technology enhances security by offering unique identification capabilities, enabling real-time product verification. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed system, real-world testing was conducted across different industries. Blockchain-Based Revocable Key-Aggregate Searchable Encryption for Group data Sharing in Cloud-Assisted Industrial IoT

In the cloud-assisted Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), flexible and secure data sharing promotes industry processes optimization and new products-making. To enable selective data retrieval over categorized data collected by IoT devices in the encryption domain, key-aggregate searchable encryption (KASE) is adopted for group data sharing in Industrial IoT due to efficient management of encryption keys. Nonetheless, existing solutions rarely consider user revocation property and suffered from the following limitations: (i) the user revocation needs interaction process between data owner and cloud;(ii) the non-revoked users may be accidentally revoked. Therefore, we propose a blockchain-based revocable KASE system (BC-RKASE) that achieves non-interactive user revocation and trusted revoked user management. Technically, the result is non-trivially obtained from revisiting the generation of aggregate keys and key updates via secret sharing, along with re-designing trapdoor adjustment and providing public verifiable proof for key updates by public blockchain. Besides formal security analysis, we conduct extensive experiments in a real cloud environment and thin IoT devices (Raspberry Pi) using a public IIoT dataset to confirm the practical performance of BC-RKASE. In particular, BC-RKASE outperforms state-of-the-art schemes with 13.4×~15× time efficiency accelerating for data retrieval and runs more than 16× faster for user revocation. © 2025 IEEE.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

This paper examines a cognitive radio (CR) nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system in which an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with a reconfigurable intelligent surface (UAV-RIS) plays two roles: relaying and friendly jamming. The communication protocol has two phases. The first is an energy harvesting phase in which the UAV harvests radio frequency energy from a power beacon. A secondary transmitter (ST) simultaneously sends superimposed signals to secondary receivers (SRs) (a public SR and a covert SR) via NOMA with the assistance of the UAV-RIS. Then, a UAV warden and a UAV jammer launch a cooperative attack, in which the first adversary wiretaps the signals from the ST and UAV-RIS, whereas the second interferes with the SRs to force the ST to increase its transmit power. For improved secrecy, the UAV-RIS uses its harvested energy to combat the UAV warden. For this system, the secrecy performance is evaluated on the basis of the concept of covert communication. In particular, optimization algorithms are employed to maximize the covert SR throughput under outage probability and security constraints. A deep neural network model is subsequently trained to discover the relationships between the environmental parameters and optimized parameters to enable rapid adaptation to environmental conditions. © 2020 IEEE.

Deep learning at the service of metaheuristics for solving numerical optimization problems

Integrating deep learning methods into metaheuristic algorithms has gained attention for addressing design-related issues and enhancing performance. The primary objective is to improve solution quality and convergence speed within solution search spaces. This study investigates the use of deep learning methods as a generative model to learn historical content, including global best and worst solutions, solution sequences, function evaluation patterns, solution space characteristics, population modification trajectories, and movement between local and global search processes. An LSTM-based architecture is trained on dynamic optimization data collected during the metaheuristic optimization process. The trained model generates an initial solution space and is integrated into the optimization algorithms to intelligently monitor the search process during exploration and exploitation phases. The proposed deep learning-based methods are evaluated on 55 benchmark functions of varying complexities, including CEC 2017 and compared with 13 biology-based, evolution-based, and swarm-based metaheuristic algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that all the deep learning-based optimization algorithms achieve high-quality solutions, faster convergence rates, and significant performance improvements. These findings highlight the critical role of deep learning in addressing design issues, enhancing solution quality, trajectory, and performance speed in metaheuristic algorithms. © The Author(s) 2025.

Modified simulated annealing for university teacher course assignment considering socio-cultural constraints

This paper aims to address the complex challenge of course assignment for faculty members within a Saudi university, taking into account the socio-cultural constraints imposed by gender-based segregation between students and faculty. To tackle this challenge, a combinatorial optimization model is proposed, which includes a binary representation of the problem, constraints reflecting gender segregation, and an objective function designed to maximize faculty satisfaction. The model employs a Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm, supplemented with two neighborhood search heuristics (H1 and H2), to explore diverse combinations. Additionally, a greedy randomized adaptive search procedure Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP) algorithm is implemented for comparative analysis, utilizing heuristic 1 for local search. Through the application of simulated annealing alongside both heuristics (SA_H1_H2), the optimal solution is achieved, resulting in a notable equilibrium of courses among faculty members. Objective 1 demonstrates the standardized deviation in workload distribution among faculty members, yielding a deviation value of 0.08. This study contributes to the field by proposing a novel approach to course assignment that explicitly addresses the gender-based segregation prevalent in Saudi universities. By integrating socio-cultural constraints into the optimization model and employing advanced algorithms, the study offers a pioneering solution to a previously unexplored problem domain. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management 2024.

Opticurve: an optimized informer-curvelet framework for enhanced hyperspectral image segmentation and classification

Hyperspectral image (HSI) classification is crucial for applications in climate action, land use analysis, disaster risk reduction, and informed decision-making, given the complex spatial and spectral variations inherent in HSI data. Traditional methods struggle with accurately capturing these variations, necessitating more advanced techniques. This work introduces an Optimized Linformer-Curvelet (OptiCurve) Framework that integrates CNN-based feature extraction, Curvelet Transform for spatial detail capture, and Linformer for efficient feature representation. By combining these techniques, the model enhances HSI segmentation and classification, supporting improved outcomes in critical areas like environmental monitoring and disaster response.
