The article concerns modern soft magnetic materials made by rapid solidification and subsequent ultra-rapid annealing. Due to the lower amount of non-magnetic elements, higher magnetisation is possible. Unfortunately, the lack of those elements causes difficulty during isothermal nanocrystallisation operation, being crucial from the final product properties point of *** of isothermal heat treatment, ultra-rapid annealing is implemented. It reflects in materials with good magnetic softness and higher possible magnetisation *** amorphous alloy with Fe75.3Ni10B14Cu0.7 chemical composition was heat treated between cooper blocks at 773K in the range of 1-60s. To study structure evolution, we brought XRD, DSC, Flash DSC, Mössbauer spectroscopy, TEM, and HRTEM techniques to *** on the DSC results, we estimated the minimum heating speed to obtain optimal structure at 6000K/min. The Mössbauer results allowed us to study annealing time-dependent local atomic ordering in the amorphous state. A comparison of X-Ray and synchrotron diffraction results drove us to the conclusion that X-Ray measurements are sufficient to determine the material structure. TEM shows the formation of α-Fe crystallites even after an annealing time of 0.5s. The increase in annealing time leads to an increase in the crystalline phase volume fraction and growth of α-Fe crystallite size. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Identification of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) patients at risk for development of dementia is crucial for early intervention. However, diagnosing dementia in PD patients requires advanced, time-consuming and expensive imaging techniques (such as DaT-SCAN-SPECT). The study aims to prove the usefulness of convolutional neural networks (CNN) for the identification of brain areas related to the progress of cognitive impairment by using standard Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) sequences. T1&T2 sequences of 18 patients were used in the pilot study. Activation maps were generated, and the brain regions most involved in the classification process were identified, showing areas potentially significant in the diagnosis of cognitive impairment severity. The cerebellum was proven significant for distinguishing the above-mentioned classes in relative cerebellum volume (ANOVA p-value=0.0038 with large effect size η2=0.5254) and folding (p-value=0.0031, η2=0.5357), which is consistent with reports by other authors. Our analysis demonstrates that convolutional neural networks combined with a proper image preprocessing pipeline could be used for feature extraction in MRI sequences and can successfully support the identification of disease-specific abnormalities of the brain image. © 2021, CC BY.

This paper presents a practical laboratory for student education purpose in Distributed control Systems, with focus on applications for high voltage transmission substations. The monitoring, control and protection part is realized with a software platform and IED devices manufactured by AREVA T&D France, while the primary equipment, like circuit breakers and disconnectors are simulated with latched relays. The system architecture and communication network are reproducing a real one usually used in transmission substations. The implementation of this laboratory, both through specific laboratory works and experiments, makes the theoretical part to be supported by a practical experience, resulting in future graduates with added value in the electric power industry.

This paper presents a practical implementation of a modern DCS in energy sector, applicable for electric power transmission and distributions substations. When dealing with aging infrastructure the reward from investing in modern automation solution can be substantial, with benefits such increasing productivity, cost savings, safety operations, scalable solution and a better integration in the modern IT facilities. The modern DCS systems evolved into a flexible and scalable automation solutions, which make them mandatory in the actual competitive energy business environment. Comparing to PLCs and traditional DCS, the modern DCS systems are designed to provide automation solution in a safe, reliable and cost-effectively manner. The main goal of this article is to present and suggest an optimal DCS design and functional solutions taking into consideration customer requirements, international and customer applicable norms, budget constraint, hardware and software limitations, integration of existing equipment, cybersecurity and low impact of the monitored and controlled process for extension and future growth. The principles presented in this paper can be found implemented in Romania mainly in the electric power transmission substations, owned by Romanian Transmission and System Operator CNTEE Transelectrica SA.

Augmented reality has become a very powerful tool nowadays. With the recent technological advance, smartphones have the ability to display augmented content on the screen. What makes the difference is the naturalness with which the multimedia content is superimposed over the video stream acquired with the phone's camera. This perfect overlay depends on the accurate estimation of the position and orientation of the smartphone's camera relative to the 3D representation of the space. ARCore is an augmented reality framework that computes the position and orientation of the smartphone. In order to assess the possibility of integrating ARCore within a virtual and augmented reality platform, we evaluated the accuracy of the ARCore localization technology, using the HTC Vive system as a reference. We designed an evaluation methodology, along with visualization tools that enable a thorough comparison between these two technologies.

A wheelchair is a specialized form of Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV) designed to help people with disabilities move safely to their desired locations. Unlike conventional PMVs, wheelchairs for people with disabilities are challenging to manually control in environments with heavy traffic. This study focuses on designing and feasibility testing of control systems for PMVs to meet safety and efficiency standards, even in complex environments. First, a control structure model for PMVs is proposed. This is followed by the application of a combination of First In First Out (FIFO) and Dijkstra traffic control methods to determine effective trajectories for PMVs. The proposed control system is then tested on the campus of the University of Transport and Communications. Simulation results show that when comparing the travel time of 10 PMVs, the order execution time for each PMV remains stable (within 10%) for up to 20 PMVs. However, when the number of PMVs increases to 25, 30, 35, and 40 vehicles, the order execution time increases by 35%, 55%, 103%, and 119%, respectively. These results demonstrate that the system can control a large number of PMVs, ensuring safety, flexibility, and efficiency. © 2024 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. This article aims to calculate the net income achieved by a prosumer for an existing On-Grid system of photovoltaic panels consisting of a set of 12 poly crystalline panels with a nominal power of 250 Wand 60 cells and an On-Grid inverter (StecaGrid model) with a maximum power of 3000 W. The prosumer is located in southern Romania, Ilfov County. Modeling of the photovoltaic panel in Matlab / SIMULINK was performed using a mathematical model, and it was compared with a real data set. Next, an analysis was made of the energy produced by the photovoltaic system, and the energy consumed by the prosumer, the excess energy being introduced in the national energy system. We have achieved a net income saving for March, so the analyzed photovoltaic system has energy efficiency that can significantly reduce electricity costs over time. Thus, using the Matlab / Simulink model, photovoltaic systems can be designed to satisfy the needs of prosumers.

The state of network paths is of great importance for the quality and reliability of the transmission of information coming from the IoT devices. Changing network conditions cause the state of a single path to be highly unpredictable, especially when large-scale IoT networks, connecting thousands of specialized devices, are in use. The solution to this problem is to perform trials in a real environment, with the use of real hardware. The rationalization of the design, the implementation and the exploitation of the process will be the main benefit of this approach. In this demonstration, a testbed infrastructure for the estimation of the state of path parameters in wired and wireless networks is presented. The estimation is based mainly on active measurements performed with the use of the Probing Packet Trains method. The key elements of the testbed infrastructure are locally and remotely controlled energy-efficient single-board computers, working under the control of the Linux operating system, which are equipped with software able to track (in manual or automatic mode) changing conditions of a given transmission path.
