The service-oriented environment offers the opportunity to create new applications, by combining existing applications offered as services, in order to react to the business' increasing pressure of quickly delivering new applications. With a large number of web services offering the same functionality, choosing the web services that meet best the client's quality of service (QoS) requirements is a very important task. We introduce a QoS-aware end to end web service composition approach that handles all the stages from the web service discovery step, to the actual binding of the services. This approach uses our method of expressing nonfunctional preferences, which requires minimal effort on the part of the clients, but offers great flexibility in managing trade-offs. We define a QoS preferences ontology and use it in our semantic web service selection to choose an initial candidate list of services for every task in the orchestration model. Then, one concrete service is chosen from each candidate list and is boand to the corresponding task. This step involves computing and comparing the aggregated QoS of the resulting composite services. The selection is performed using a genetic algorithm.

The paper deals with a mathematical model of switched reluctance motor, with stator of on induction motor. The parameters of this model were determined experimentally. The motor winding were supplied from different frequencies AC voltage source. Based on the measurements of current and voltage equivalent resistance and inductance of motor windings as a function of frequency were determined using the least squares method. The measurements for different rotation angle of the rotor were carried out. The measured resistance value was significantly higher than the value of the winding resistance because of “iron losses”. The losses are modeled as the losses of a single turn wound on the rotor core, representing the eddy currents circuit. The losses are dependent on the angle of the rotor rotation relative to the stator. Based on the relationship between the equivalent inductance and resistance of the motor measured and specified of the model, the parameters were determined.

The two areas of picture languages and membrane computing were linked by array-rewriting P system in which array objects and context-free array-rewriting rules are used in order to generate picture languages. While rewriting arrays in the array-rewriting P system is in a sequential manner, parallel array P system (PAP) involves rewriting of arrays in the regions in parallel in order to generate picture languages. A variant of PAP, known as tabled array P system (TPAP), uses sets of context-free array-rewriting rules, called tables of rules. Generative power of TPAP in comparison with PAP and certain other kinds of picture array generating mechanisms are investigated. Copyright © 2016 American Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved.

Nowadays, novel construction materials, more efficient power supplies and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms allow one to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in various fields of life. One of the biggest events promoting this idea is the Air Cargo Challenge (ACC) competition. In this paper the motivation for ACC participation and the overall procedure of CAD aided UAV design are presented. The nonlinear aircraft model as well as Computational Fluid Dynamic simulations are discussed. Finally, some details concerning designed UAV prototype are revealed.

Some aspects of marine electric power plants load registration and identification have been presented. Methods of operating data collecting about marine electric power plant loads have been shown based on an example of three vessels - a chemical tanker, a container ship and a tanker. Power plants of these vessels have been described. Examples of collected operating data were presented. Range of marine electric power plant load identification research has been characterized, which presented in the paper results are a part of.

The paper covers issue of conducting advanced research of electrical race car participating in international competition called Sileverline Corporate Challenge. Process of designing race cars in Silesian Greenpower team is aided by a professional engine test stand built particularly in purpose of this research. Phase of testing and simulation is an important part of the implementation of new technologies. Properly developed solutions and test procedures are able to significantly shorten development time and reduce design costs. Testing process must be controlled by a modular and flexible application, easy to modify and ensuring safety. This paper describes the concept of object-oriented programming in LabVIEW and exemplary architecture of object-oriented control application designed to control engine test stand of the electrical race car. Eventually, the task of application will be to steer the electromagnetic brake and the engine load torque to perform according to data from the actual race track. During the designing process of the car, minimizing energy losses and maximizing powertrain efficiency are the main aspects taken into consideration. One of the crucial issues to accomplish these goals is to maintain optimal performance of the motor by applying effective cooling. The paper covers the research verifying the effectiveness of the cooling system.

The variability of electromagnetic parameters of induction motors with deep-bar cage or solid rotors is represented, with a satisfactory approximation, by the machine secondary multi-loop equivalent circuit with constant lumped parameters. An estimation procedure of electromagnetic parameters of such an equivalent circuit is presented in the paper. The procedure is carried out using the measured frequency characteristic determined on the basis of instantaneous values of investigated induction motor electromechanical quantities. The study has been subjected to an induction motor with a solid rotor manufactured from the magnetic material, i.e. a machine characterized by a significant skin effect occurring in rotor solid conductive elements.

The measurement accuracy of the estimation of the Doppler frequency and the signal phase difference in Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA) systems is investigated in this paper by taking into account the effect of the particle trajectory via the measurement volume and the different noise sources. Both the signal dependent (quantum shot) noise and the signal independent (thermal and dark current) noise are considered. The minimum achievable measurement uncertainty of the phase shift estimation for the signal independent noise is determined by employing the 2D model of the Doppler Burst Signal with the Gaussian envelope and compared with the performance of the correlation method. Additionally, the Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRLB) of the frequency estimation concerning the quantum shot noise is calculated. The numerical examples show the performance of the correlation method with various parameter configurations compared with the derived CRLB. The numerical results confirm the validity of the analysis in terms of the relative effect of the particle trajectory, relative measurement time, size of the volume and signal-to-noise ratio on the accuracy of the estimation. © 2015 IEEE.
