High Step-up DC-DC Converter Using Voltage Lift Techniques for Renewable Applications

This paper presents a non-isolated DC-DC boost converter using voltage lift techniques. The proposed structure offers continuous input current. Substantial voltage gain along-side low voltage stress across semiconductors in this topology contribute to utilizing an MOSFET with lower RDS-ON and devices with low nominal voltage values. Consisting of a switch makes the control procedure of the converter uncomplicated. Voltage analysis for the converter has been done in continuous and discontinuous conduction modes (CCM)-(DCM). Furthermore, current calculation, design process and comparison study are provided. Dynamic performance of the proposed circuit is scrutinized by applying the state space average technique and small signal model. In order to accredit performance of the converter, an archetype with 26V input and 222V output voltages and approximately 196W power level at 50 kHz switching frequency has been built and tested.

Hydrogen is emerging as a promising alternative to fossil fuels in the transportation *** study evaluated the feasibility of estab-lishing hydrogen refueling stations in five cities in Oman,Duqm,Haima,Sur,Al Buraymi,and Salalah,using Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Electric Renewables(HOMER)*** hybrid energy systems,photovoltaic-wind turbine-battery,photovoltaic-battery,and wind turbine-battery were analyzed for each *** indicated that Duqm offers the lowest net present cost(NPC),levelized cost of energy,and levelized cost of hydrogen,making it the most cost-effective ***,Sensitivity analysis showed that as the life of electrolyzer increases during operation,the initial capital expenditure is distributed over a longer operational period,leading to a reduction in the *** so,renewable energy systems produced no emissions which supports Oman’s mission *** comprehensive analysis confirms the feasibility of establishing a hydrogen refueling station in Duqm,Oman,and highlights advanced optimization techniques’superior capability in designing cost-effective,sustainable energy systems.

With the advent of advanced energy management systems in distribution systems,there is a growing interest in rapid and reliable code for distribution system state estimation(DSSE)in large-scale *** DSSE methods employed in the industry are based on load scaling as they are well suited to the abundance of *** to the paucity of real-time measurements in DSSE,phasor measurement units(PMUs)have been proposed as a potential solution to increase the estimation ***,load scaling methodologies are not extendable for exploiting *** paper proposes a high-performance DSSE method that can handle the PMUs together with all common measurement types in industrial *** using Wirtinger calculus,the method operates entirely in complex variables and employs the latest version of advanced vector extensions(AVX-2)to reap the maximum potential of computer processing *** paper highlights the derivation of complex DSSE in matrix form,from which one can infer the implications on code reliability and *** results are reported on large-scale multi-phase distribution systems,and they are contrasted with a publicly available code for DSSE in real *** simulation results show that loop unrolling in AVX-2 contributes about a two-fold increase in the solving speed.

The emergence of multimedia services has meant a substantial increase in the number of devices in mobile networks and driving the demand for higher data transmission *** result is that,cellular networks must technically evolve to support such higher rates,to be equipped with greater capacity,and to increase the spectral and energy *** with 4G technology,the 5G networks are being designed to transmit up to 100 times more data volume with devices whose battery life is 10 times ***,this new generation of networks has adopted a heterogeneous and ultra-dense architecture,where different technological advances are combined such as device-to-device(D2D)communication,which is one of the key elements of 5G *** has immediate applications such as the distribution of traffic load(data offloading),communications for emergency services,and the extension of cellular coverage,*** this communication model,two devices can communicate directly if they are close to each other without using a base station or a remote access ***,eliminating the interference between theD2Dand cellular communication in the *** interference management has become a hot issue in current *** order to address this problem,this paper proposes a joint resource allocation algorithm based on the idea of mode selection and resource *** results showthat the proposed algorithm effectively improves the systemperformance and reduces the interference as compared with existing algorithms.

Shaping and controlling electromagnetic fields at the nanoscale is vital for advancing efficient and compact devices used in optical communications,sensing and metrology,as well as for the exploration of fundamental properties of light-matter interaction and optical ***-time feedback for active control over light can provide a significant advantage in these endeavors,compensating for ever-changing experimental conditions and inherent or accumulated device *** nearfield microscopy,being slow in essence,cannot provide such a real-time feedback that was thus far possible only by scattering-based ***,we present active control over nanophotonic near-fields with direct feedback facilitated by real-time near-field *** use far-field wavefront shaping to control nanophotonic patterns in surface waves,demonstrating translation and splitting of near-field focal spots at nanometer-scale precision,active toggling of different near-field angular momenta and correction of patterns damaged by structural defects using feedback enabled by the real-time *** ability to simultaneously shape and observe nanophotonic fields can significantly impact various applications such as nanoscale optical manipulation,optical addressing of integrated quantum emitters and near-field adaptive optics.

Solder paste inspection (SPI) devices have been used in the SMT assembly line in consideration of advantages such as obtaining good quality products, reducing cost, and cutting diagnosis time. In this regard, we build a low-cost SPI based on the structured light procedure. Subsequently, we have to accept a trade-off because of the economical components cause undesirable effects. One of them is oversaturated occurrence in shiny surfaces such as solder-pastes, which are considered in this article. Our impetus is to attenuate the undesirable consequences of oversaturated pixels in the final step, which assess solder paste quality and detect height defects based on 3D reconstruction. The phase-shifting profilometry, one of the structured light method for 3D reconstruction, is considered in this work. This paper aims to apply image processing algorithms to captured images and assessing phase-map in the interest of conquering undesirable effects and recovery of the oversaturated pixels.

Explainability-based Trust Algorithm for electricity price forecasting models

Advanced machine learning(ML)algorithms have outperformed traditional approaches in various forecasting applications,especially electricity price forecasting(EPF).However,the prediction accuracy of ML reduces substantially if the input data is not similar to the ones seen by the model during *** is often observed in EPF problems when market dynamics change owing to a rise in fuel prices,an increase in renewable penetration,a change in operational policies,*** the dip in model accuracy for unseen data is a cause for concern,what is more,challenging is not knowing when the ML model would respond in such a *** uncertainty makes the power market participants,like bidding agents and retailers,vulnerable to substantial financial loss caused by the prediction errors of EPF ***,it becomes essential to identify whether or not the model prediction at a given instance is *** this light,this paper proposes a trust algorithm for EPF users based on explainable artificial intelligence *** suggested algorithm generates trust scores that reflect the model’s prediction quality for each new *** scores are formulated in two stages:in the first stage,the coarse version of the score is formed using correlations of local and global explanations,and in the second stage,the score is fine-tuned further by the Shapley additive explanations values of different *** score-based explanations are more straightforward than feature-based visual explanations for EPF users like asset managers and traders.A dataset from Italy’s and ERCOT’s electricity market validates the efficacy of the proposed *** show that the algorithm has more than 85%accuracy in identifying good predictions when the data distribution is similar to the training *** the case of distribution shift,the algorithm shows the same accuracy level in identifying bad predictions.

A block-based secure and robust watermarking scheme for color images based on multi-resolution decomposition and de-correlation

This paper presents a block-based secure and robust watermarking technique for color images based on multi-resolution decomposition and *** principal objective of the presented scheme is to simultaneously meet all the four requirements(robustness,security,imperceptibility,and capacity)of a good watermarking *** contribution of this study is to basically achieve the four contradictory requirements that a good watermarking scheme must *** do so,different approaches are combined in a way that the four requirements are *** instance,to obtain imperceptibility,the three color channels(red,green,and blue)are de-correlated using principal component analysis,and the first principal component(de-correlated red channel)is chosen for watermark ***,to achieve robustness,the de-correlated channel is decomposed using a discrete wavelet transform(DWT),and the approximate band(the other three bands are kept intact to preserve the edge information)is further decomposed into distinct *** random blocks are chosen based on a random generated *** random selected blocks are further broken down into singular values and *** on the mutual dependency on singular values and vectors’matrices,the values are modified depending on the watermarking bits,and their locations are saved and used as another key,required when the watermark is to be ***,two-level authentication levels ensure the security,and using both singular values and vectors increases the capacity of the presented ***,the involvement of both left and right singular vectors along with singular values in the watermarking embedding process strengthens the robustness of the proposed ***,to compare the presented scheme with the state-of-the-art schemes in terms of imperceptibility(peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index),security(with numerous fake keys),robustness(normalized correlation and bit error rate)
