This study proposes Facebook-Prophet model for understanding and forecasting of corona virus (COVID-19) mortality in Southern African Development Community (SADC) region over a 90-day time period. Findings showed that COVID-19 mortality in SADC region is expected to degrade in the near future. Model performance metrics were used to compute prediction performance. These results implied that the selected model was satisfactory and reliable. Findings of the study are expected to raise situational awareness into better understanding of the pandemic and to provide support for strategic health decisions for better management of COVID-19 disease. Moreover, the study provides a series of recommendations to be followed in order to decline COVID-19 related deaths in SADC countries.

Increasing integration of renewable energy resources emphasizes the importance of the grid-forming virtual synchronous generator (VSG)-based converters. An important issue in the control structure of these converters is the fault ride-through (FRT) capability under fault operating condition. In this paper a model predictive-based FRT control strategy is proposed to limit the converter current while ensures high power quality during fault situation. The proposed control method provides a fast dynamic response, high power quality, improved performance, and a simpler control structure. The effective performance of the proposed control method, as well as its superior performance in comparison with the conventional PI-based control and a model predictive-based control method, are validated through simulation results in MATLAB/Simulink.

This study examines the growing number of satellites, this paper explores the importance of satellite tracking and highlights NOAA-15 for information transmission and weather monitoring. It offers a low-cost configuration for receiving circularly polarized signals, using a Software Defined Radio (SDR) at 137.62 MHz and a V-dipole antenna. The directional characteristics of the V-dipole maximize capture efficiency by improving signal reception during particular satellite orbits. The flexible SDR, in particular the RTL SDR USB dongle, is used to detail signal decoding for Automatic Picture Transmission (APT), allowing for effective processing and tracking. High-quality APT photos are produced by this hardware-software integration, highlighting NOAA's crucial role in international weather forecasting. The study also emphasizes how simple and inexpensive it is to use the V-dipole antenna to receive NOAA weather satellite signals.

In the quest for efficient multiple access schemes for future wireless systems, sparse code-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has gained considerable interest, potentially achieving significant performance enhancement in overloaded settings at feasible complexity. This paper revisits an uplink model with two classes of users distinguished by their received powers, each employing regular sparse code-domain NOMA (where a fixed and finite number of orthogonal resources is occupied by each user and vice versa). Introducing random coordinate transformations, the achievable ergodic class throughput region is analytically specified in the large system limit, and shown to strictly contain the achievable region with randomly spread dense code-domain NOMA, while closing the gap to the Cover-Wyner capacity region. Furthermore, harnessing tools from free probability theory, an exact closed form expression is derived for the total achievable sum-rate, which has been so far characterized in analogous settings by means of lower and upper bounds. The analysis significantly broadens the information theoretic perspective on code-domain NOMA applications, and establishes key tools for generalizing the results to more complex models for future systems.
