Orthogonal matrices have become a vital means for coding and signal processing owing to their unique distributional *** orthogonal matrices based on amplitude or phase combinations have been extensively explored,the orthogonal matrix of polarization combinations(OMPC)is a novel,relatively unexplored ***,we propose a method for constructing OMPCs of any dimension encompassing 4n(where n is 1,2,4,8,…)mutually orthogonal 2ncomponent polarization *** the field of holography,the integration of polarization multiplexing techniques with polarization-sensitive materials is expected to emerge as a groundbreaking approach for multichannel hologram multiplexing,offering considerable enhancements in data storage capacity and security.A multidimensional OMPC enables the realization of multichannel multiplexing and dynamical modulation of information in polarization holographic *** consolidating all information into a single position within the material,we effectively avoided extraneous crosstalk during the reconstruction *** results show that achieving four distinct holographic images individually and simultaneously depends on the polarization combination represented by the incident *** discovery opens up a new avenue for achieving highly holographic information storage and dynamically displayed information,harnessing the potential of OMPC to expand the heretofore limited dimensionality of orthogonal polarization.

This research explores a new finite element model for the free vibration analysis of bi-directional functionally graded (BDFG) beams. The model is based on an efficient higher-order shear deformation beam theory that incorporates a trigonometric warping function for both transverse shear deformation and stress to guarantee traction-free boundary conditions without the necessity of shear correction factors. The proposed two-node beam element has three degrees of freedom per node, and the inter-element continuity is retained using both C1 and C0 continuities for kinematics variables. In addition, the mechanical properties of the (BDFG) beam vary gradually and smoothly in both the in-plane and out-of-plane beam’s directions according to an exponential power-law distribution. The highly elevated performance of the developed model is shown by comparing it to conceptual frameworks and solution procedures. Detailed numerical investigations are also conducted to examine the impact of boundary conditions, the bi-directional gradient indices, and the slenderness ratio on the free vibration response of BDFG beams. The suggested finite element beam model is an excellent potential tool for the design and the mechanical behavior estimation of BDFG structures. © 2024 Techno-Press, Ltd.

Arrhythmias, irregularities in heart rhythm, are critical indicators of heart disease and can be effectively diagnosed using electrocardiograms (ECGs), a primary tool in cardiac care. This study proposes and evaluates three hybrid deep learning models: CNN-LSTM, CNN-GRU, and Bidirectional GRU with attention (BiGRU-Att) for the classification of ECG signals into five distinct arrhythmia categories. CNN-LSTM and CNN-GRU integrate convolutional layers for spatial feature extraction with recurrent layers for temporal pattern modeling, while the BiGRU-Att model incorporates an attention mechanism to enhance focus on critical features. The preprocessing method employs the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) to address the class imbalance, ensuring robust model performance. Results demonstrate that BiGRU-Att outperforms other models, achieving an overall accuracy of 99.4%, sensitivity of 0.987, and the lowest false positive rate of 0.002. To facilitate practical application, a user-friendly cloud-based platform was developed, enabling doctors to upload ECG signals, visualize results, and classify arrhythmias. The platform incorporates a recommendation system powered by a custom-built database, offering personalized recommendations for each arrhythmia type. These findings highlight the potential of hybrid deep learning to enhance arrhythmia detection, ultimately improving diagnostic accuracy.

Foreign Exchange market is the world's largest daily currency turnover. Two of the popular currencies Euro and Pound sterling traded against the US Dollar. Since the Russia and Ukraine war started in February 2022, their exchange rates decrease to the lowest rate ever. Even though the general trend is bearish, several daily candles increase for some days making challenges for forex analysts. To solve this problem, classification is applied. The data is labeled downward and upward. By utilizing Linear Kernel and Radial Basis Function (RBF) Kernel-based Support Vector Machines (SVM), the candle direction can be classified and optimized by tuning the Hyperparameters. The accuracy of candle direction classifications are highly improved. After tuning, in general, classification using Linear Models can outperform RBF Models. The best accuracy found on the Pound sterling against US Dollar by using the Linear model is 98.11% and the accuracy becomes 100% on data testing at a ratio of 70:30. Whilst for the Euro against the US Dollar, the best accuracy found the same for both Linear and RBF models on a ratio of 80:20 at 97.53%. However, on data testing, it decreases to 94.51% for Linear Model and 93.41% using RBF Model. The implication of this study is SVM can successfully classify candle direction on pairs in the Forex Market that are affected by a big event that comes for such a long period as long as the hyperparameter is tuned. © 2022 IEEE.

An Online Spatial-Temporal Graph Trajectory Planner for Autonomous Vehicles

The autonomous driving industry is expected to grow by over 20 times in the coming decade and, thus, motivate researchers to delve into it. The primary focus of their research is to ensure safety, comfort, and efficiency. An autonomous vehicle has several modules responsible for one or more of the aforementioned items. Among these modules, the trajectory planner plays a pivotal role in the safety of the vehicle and the comfort of its passengers. The module is also responsible for respecting kinematic constraints and any applicable road constraints. In this paper, a novel online spatial-temporal graph trajectory planner is introduced to generate safe and comfortable trajectories. First, a spatial-temporal graph is constructed using the autonomous vehicle, its surrounding vehicles, and virtual nodes along the road with respect to the vehicle itself. Next, the graph is forwarded into a sequential network to obtain the desired states. To support the planner, a simple behavioral layer is also presented that determines kinematic constraints for the planner. Furthermore, a novel potential function is also proposed to train the network. Finally, the proposed planner is tested on three different complex driving tasks, and the performance is compared with two frequently used methods. The results show that the proposed planner generates safe and feasible trajectories while achieving similar or longer distances in the forward direction and comparable comfort ride. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

In order to satisfy the rapidly growing demand for data traffic from massive users, this study investigates a space-ground LEO satellite-assisted edge caching network framework and analyses the downlink transmission performance of this edge caching network. The aim is to enhance the quality of service provided by the edge caching network to users through the utilisation of LEO satellites. We use stochastic geometry to analyse the downlink performance. The spatial locations of the LEO satellites are modeled as Binomial Point Process (BPP) distribution deployed at a specific space altitude, and the locations of the terrestrial cloud servers (CSs) and mobile users (MUs) are modelled as independent Poisson Point Process (PPP), respectively. We establish the association strategy of typical MUs to LEO satellites (SATs) and CSs, based on which we derive the coverage probability analytical expression and average delay numerical solution for this network system. Finally, we verify the correctness of the numerical result through Monte Carlo simulation and study the network performance as a function of key constellation design parameters. We also analyse the impact of LEO SAT constellation parameters on the coverage capability and the average delay of MUs in this edge caching network. The simulation and analysis results provide constructive insights into the network design.

Due to the excellent interpretability and classification performance, the Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy classifier (TSK-FC) has drawn great attention. However, different patterns own their respective homogeneities, and the samples from different groups present explicitly or implicitly homogenous styles, which are significantly different from the assumption that all samples from different groups are identically and independently distributed (i.i.d.). In this paper, a style-constrained Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy classifier called SC-TSK-FC is proposed by breaking the i.i.d. assumption. To explore the styles of data, a series of style matrices are embedded into the objective function of the TSK-FC. Besides, with the introduction of the regularization term corresponding to each style matrix, the nuances between different styles of data can be captured, which can help improve the classification performance of SC-TSK-FC. Particularly, five fixed fuzzy partitions with interpretable linguistic terms are adopted to along each input feature, and SC-TSK-FC outperforms TSKFC by using less fuzzy rules. These guarantee the interpretability of SC-TSK-FC. Experimental results on some benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SC-TSK-FC.

The paper presents an overview and the main results of the Erasmus+ project titled Interactive Course for Control Theory-ICCT. The project was started by four European Universities when they identified by a survey that students find Control Theory more challenging to understand compared to other subjects. The project's main goal was to develop a platform, which would offer examples from the field of Control Theory in an interactive way-ICCT. Frequently asked questions (FAQ) and test exam questions were added as well. To support the course, an accompanying textbook was prepared. At this point, the course and the accompanying textbook are available in English and the languages of the partner universities;since both of them are publicly available, we assume they will be offered in other languages in future. The benefits of implementing our interactive course are already visible in better survey results and improved grades in Control Theory-related subjects. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper presents the methods that participated in the SHREC 2023 track focused on detecting symmetries on 3D point clouds representing simple shapes. By simple shapes, we mean surfaces generated by different types of closed plane curves used as the directrix of a cylinder or a cone. This track aims to determine the reflective planes for each point cloud. The methods are evaluated in their capability of detecting the right number of symmetries and correctly identifying the reflective planes. To this end, we generated a dataset that contains point clouds representing simple shapes perturbed with different kinds of artefacts (such as noise and undersampling) to provide a thorough evaluation of the robustness of the algorithms. © 2023 Eurographics Association.
