Steel making is known as a complex manufacturing industrial process. Automation of the process represents a challenge. Empirical mathematical modeling of the process was used to design mill equipment, ensure productivity and service quality. This modeling approach shows many problems associated to complexity and time consumption. Soft computing techniques show significant modeling capabilities on handling complex nonlinear systems modeling. In this paper, we explore the use of Takagi-Sugeno (TS) technique to develop fuzzy models for the Hot-Rolling industrial nonlinear process. We propose three models for the rolling force, torque and slab temperature. A set of rules and membership functions which represents the dynamical relationship between the input and output of these models shall be presented. The performance of the fuzzy models will be compared to the known empirical models for the hot rolling system. Experimental data measured from the Ere˜gli Iron and Steel Factory in Turkey shall be used for the verification of the model outstanding performance.

Market based approach (MBA) provides communication and coordination for robots in a virtual economy in which they can exchange tasks and resources for payment. Furthermore, trades are enabled via market mechanisms such as auction protocols in which an auctioneer is able to determine the robots best capable of achieving the tasks being offered. In this paper we purpose a modification of MBA for task allocation. This approach consists of auction announcement, bid valuation and submission and winner determination. Several scenarios where robots need to visit particular locations with time and range of wireless network constraints are used for approach verification. Additionally, the results obtained by this approach are compared with results from approach in control and coordination of mobile motes (CCMM).

In the paper measurements of streaming electrification current in the range of low velocities are presented. The measurements were conducted in spinning disk system that uses wireless rotating electrometer. Using this system it is possible to measure electrification current in the range of several picoamperes. In proposed configuration the electrometer is installed in measurement object on the disk axle. The digital output is transferred using Bluetooth radio-frequency transceiver. This solution minimizes external disturbances and allows for measurement with standard uncertainty at the level of 30 fA depending on averaging time. The uncertainty slightly depends on spinning velocity. Several dependencies of averaged electrification current on rotational speed were shown. A fresh and C 60 fullerene doped transformer oil were used as an electrification source. It was observed that the electrification current can change its sign for different C 60 concentrations. Doping mineral oil leads to charge reversal in the electric double layer. The system presented in paper extends the range of possible research in the field of electrification on low velocities and can be useful in development of streaming electrification phenomena.

Improving the FES-assisted indoor rowing exercise (FES-rowing) performance enables the spinal cord injury (SCI) people to perform hybrid FES-exercise in a higher level of intensity. High level of exercise volume and intensity can play a big role in prevention of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity which is a significant threat to the health of people with chronic SCI. FES-rowing can be enhanced to achieved the high level exercise through the arrangement of the rowing ergometer. In this paper, the performance of FES-rowing using an adjustable inclined rowing ergometer is investigated. Two different methods to enhance the FES-rowing performance using inclined ergometer are implemented. A model of the adjustable inclined ergometer and humanoid are developed using the Visual Nastran (vN4D) software environment and validated by the experimental work. Fuzzy logic control is implemented to control the knee and elbow trajectories for smooth rowing manoeuvre. The generated level of electrical stimulations for activation of quadriceps and hamstrings muscles are recorded and analysed. The FES-rowing efficiency for both methods have been defined and illustrated. The results show the inclined ergometer with upper body effort is the best performance in enhancing the FES-rowing.

This paper compares results of capacitor tests introduced by the obligatory technical standards and measurements of acoustic emission induced by partial discharges within voids in foil-based capacitors. We suppose that presence of voids within dielectric and foil structures can lead to capacitor damage and can not be detected by measurements of dielectric loss or capacitance only.

In this paper we present one of the concepts of vehicle seat vibration damping, using a fuzzy controller. We used a fuzzy controller as a part of a semi-active vehicle suspension system, which consists of semi-active air spring and semi-active damper. System is implemented between the cabin floor and vehicle seat. Fuzzy controller is designed to adjust the stiffness of the air spring and damping of the oil damper, in order to isolate the vertical vibrations that are being caused by rough road surfaces. Input data for fuzzy controller are cabin floor acceleration, vehicle seat deflection and velocity of the vehicle seat deflection. Measure of the quality of suspension is the SEAT value, which is calculated as a quotient of effective seat vertical acceleration and effective cabin vertical acceleration (ISO 2631-1 standard).
