An adaptive fuzzy controller is designed using a collection of fuzzy IF-THEN rules. Parameters of membership functions characterizing the linguistic terms in the fuzzy IF-THEN rules are changing according to some adaptive laws, to control a plant to track a reference trajectory. In this paper, an indirect adaptive fuzzy control design method is developed for general higher order nonlinear continuous systems. The Takagi-Sugeno type fuzzy logic system has been used to approximate the controller. It has been proved that the closed-loop system under this adaptive fuzzy controller is globally stable in the sense that all signals involved are bounded. Discrete event systems (DES) describe the behavior of a plant as it evolves over time in accordance with the abrupt and asynchronous occurrence of events. Such systems are encountered in a variety of fields, for example sensor or actuator faults diagnosis, robotics, computers, communication networks and traffic. The control objectives of the supervisory control of DES are to prevent a set of forbidden states from being reach, to preserve the reachability of some non forbidden states, while at the same time enabling a maximal set of achievable state sequences. A new type of knowledge adaptive control based on the closed-loop response recognition is proposed. This approach tries to mimic the behaviour of an expert, who has a lot of experience with the particular controlled system. The adaptive system updates the controller parameters according to the changes in system behaviour. The algorithm uses a rule-based system, which evaluates the closed-loop response shape after the decay of the transient mode, and computes the corrections of controller parameters. Because the main problem of such a control structure consists in designing of the rule-base, we focused our interest on the design of an automatic procedure for the rule-base generating.

In large distributed control systems or in large information systems still more often the wireless communication with remote objects which are the integral part of these systems is used. The second sphere of the wireless communication utilization is represented by the mobile objects in the control or information system. In the large systems we can utilize, with advantage, the communication which will be provided by the GSM technique. Good covering by signal in case of GSM enables the building up of measuring and control systems where the communication can run also in the demanding terrain. The paper presents a new filtering scheme for the removal of impulsive noise in color images. It is based on estimating the probability density function for color pixels in a filter window by means of the kernel density estimation method. A quantitative comparison of the proposed filter with the vector median filter shows its excellent ability to reduce noise while simultaneously preserving fine image details.

In this paper a novel approach to the problem of impulsive noise removal in color images based on the nonparametric density estimation is presented. The basic idea behind the new image filtering technique is the maximization of the similarities between pixels in a predefined filtering window. The new method is faster than the standard vector median filter and preserves better edges and fine image details. Simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms other standard algorithms of the reduction of impulsive noise in color images.

This paper addresses the issue of an optimal selection of the production and delivery plan for an asphalt base process. The process is modeled as a DHA (Discrete Hybrid Automaton) using the high level modeling language HYSDEL (HYbrid System DEscription Language) that allows converting the DHA model into an MLD (Mixed Logical Dynamical) model. The proposed solution applies to a class of optimal control problems where the goal is to minimize the total completion time. The solution algorithm, which takes into account a model of a hybrid system described as an MLD system, is based on the reachability analysis. The algorithm abstracts the behavior of the hybrid system into a "tree of evolution", where nodes of the tree represent reachable states of the system and branches connect two nodes if a transition exists between the corresponding states. To each node the cost function value is associated and, based on this value, the tree exploration is driven, searching for the optimal control profile.
