A practical adaptive control application is reported. In coal-burned thermal plant, the air supply rate is controlled using a simple rion-linear model of carbon monoxide generation. Parameters of the model are on-line estimated using the standard least-squares estimation technique. This model is used for the the optimal air/fuel ratio re-calculation, which should ensure that the steady state CO concentration would exceed a given limit with only a small probability (cautious optimization). Both the limit and probability threshold are the two principal input parameters. To avoid covariance wind-up, the regularized forgetting algorithm is used. To model the fact the parameter variations are caused mainly by the fuel quality fluctuations, the forgetting is directional. The output data are provided by CO concentration sensors, which may get saturated or clogged. Mathematical solutions to both problems is presented.

The paper interests in continuous diagnostics of the heart of the old people by the transmission of ECG signal through voice channel of mobile telephone. The ECG signal is measured during active life, it is compressed through 24 hours and stored in the memory to be possible a long term ECG diagnostics. The time compression is supported by wavelet analysis in special processor. The implementation of "Wavelet Analyser" uses custom design and FPGA circuitry. The ECG signal is compressed in amplitude, and it is equipped by redundancy of error control code before transmission by the voice channel of mobile telephone line.

The robust output feedback stabilization is tackled using a genetic algorithm optimisation procedure for uncertain linear parametric systems in the time domain. The necessary and sufficient conditions for static output feedback stabilizability of linear systems are the basics of the proposed robust controller design procedure. The objective of application of model-based predictive control technology for boiler control is to enable tight dynamical coordination of selected controlled variables, particularly the coordination of air and fuel during the transients. It is shown that this approach can be used in connection with excess air optimization to increase the efficiency by at least 1% while considerably reducing the production of NOx.

At the movement of a man with the usual prothesis it is not possible to change the speed of walking too much. Concerning construction, the artificial limbs are solved in the following way: Their swing is adjusted to any induvidual. Our project concerns developing of the artificial limb which is capable to react on possible rate of movement changes, that will make the pace more fluent and natural. The work can be divided into two parts - mechanical and control (electronic) one. The mechanical part consists of pneumatic cylinder in which the flow valve is controlled. This enables two-sided regulation. The electronic part consists of pressure sensor and control unit created by one-chip processor which reacts on pressure change in dependence on time.

A software tool for modeling and simulation of Flexible Manufacturing Systems is proposed in this paper. Variety of robots, conveyers and working machines can be used in building of the FMS. control program for the whole system is written through Petri net model. Transformation from Petri net into control program is automated. Programming language is derived from real language for robot control. Simulation is done in 3D environment with full real-time animation. Used technique of 3D animations allows using different views to system with full zooming and change of angle and position.

In this paper, the simulation and measurement of the pressure impact propagation along the long pipeline is presented. The congruence of the mathematical model with the measurement data is studied. The mathematical description of the model id discussed. The partial differential equations are solved by MATLAB 5.3/WINDOWS. The model was verified on the pipeline in MCHZ - Ostrava. The results of measurement are presented.
