The vast majority of the software developers use the agile framework for project management. Agile approach provides more flexibility and adaption to the changes against classic software development approach. The key methodology of agile approach represents the scrum. The core of scrum management forms sprint, which represents a time shift activity and envelops all other events of scrum. The outcome of the sprint should be the increment in development of the project, which is possible to submit to the customers or the users. The paper maps the possibilities of visualization of the course of individual sprints at everyday meetings of the research team (stand up meetings), which have a decisive influence on the quality of communication of the research team and the overall success of the project. © 2019 VSB-Technical University of Ostrava. The real-time implementation of control and estimation algorithms on microcontrollers with limited memory and computational power requires a model that describes the dynamics of the vibrating system in sufficient detail, yet makes real-time deployment on sampled systems feasible. While extracting a model from finite element analysis is always possible, this approach yields models that are too complex to be evaluated in sample timing that is typical for vibration phenomena. In case of nonlinear vibrations, this is even more critical as state-of-the-art optimal control and estimation algorithms will have to evaluate a non-convex objective function. This paper introduces the modeling and system identification procedure of a nonlinear vibrating beam that results a real-time feasible mathematical model. Position and velocity measurements are made on a slender vibrating beam mounted equipped with a tip mass on a linear excitation stage using non-contact laser Doppler vibrometry. The measurement results are then fitted to two model candidates by using genetic algorithms to identify unknown parameters. Models are verified in simulation and their outputs are compared to experimental measurements. © 25th International Congress on Sound and Vibration 2018, ICSV 2018: Hiroshima Calling. Belt conveying belongs to high-performance, economically and energy efficient continuous system. Optimization of this conveying systems makes possible reducing the total operating costs up to 30%. For this reason is necessary to choice of the suitable structural elements. Conveyor belt is the most important element of this system and quality of its strength properties is a needful prerequisite for a smooth operation of belt conveyors. Insufficient quality of strength properties has a negative effect on the reliability of the entire continuous belt conveyor system;it causes downtimes and financial loss to a user. Moreover, conveyor belt rupture caused by insufficient strength represents an unacceptable risk in terms of belt conveyor system safety. The present article is focused on the evaluation of conveyor belt quality based on result of the tensile strength belt research and evaluation of experiment using the Design of experiment method. At the end of the article is applied the multi-criterion decision method by the selection of optimal quality of the fabric conveyor belts. The object of the research were 12 different types of fabric conveyor belts. Shapes, dimensions and conditioning of testing specimens were determined according to the international standards. A testing specimens were observed until to disturbance. The purpose of the article is to examine the relationship between the tensile strength, ductility, and elongation at the reference load in selected technical criteria of a conveyor belt. The selection of relevant criteria is a very important step. From the numbers of properties were selected tree main properties-nominal strength, carcass type, number of plies. By utilization method of AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) was defined the weight of main criteria important for the selection of conveyor belt. Installing smart meters to publish real-time electricity rates has been controversial while it might lead to privacy concerns. Dispatched rates include fine-grained data on aggregate electricity consumption in a zone and could potentially be used to infer a household's pattern of energy use or its occupancy. In this paper, we propose Blowfish privacy to protect the occupancy state of the houses connected to a smart grid. First, we introduce a Markov model of the relationship between electricity rate and electricity consumption. Next, we develop an algorithm that perturbs electricity rates before publishing them to ensure users' privacy. Last, the proposed algorithm is tested on data inspired by household occupancy models and its performance is compared to an alternative solution.

In this paper, we introduce a notion of so-called finite-step simulation functions for discrete-time control systems. In contrast to the existing notions of simulation functions, a finite-step simulation function does not need decay at each time step but after some finite numbers of steps. We show that the existence of such a function guarantees that the mismatch between output trajectories of the concrete and abstract systems lies within an appropriate bound. Using this relaxation, we develop a new type of small-gain conditions which are less conservative than those previously used for compositional construction of approximate abstractions of interconnected control systems. In particular, using finite-step simulation functions, it is possible to construct approximate abstractions, where stabilizability of each subsystem is not necessarily required. The effectiveness of our results is verified by an illustrative example.

Smart buildings viewed as cyber-physical systems are currently a growing research topic oriented towards collaborative groups of buildings. Since buildings consume significant amount of energy, research efforts have concentrated to make them more efficient, in particular the Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems that represent more than 40% of the buildings' energy budget. A key piece of information that facilitates the design of energy efficient HVAC systems, in particular in commercial buildings, is the knowledge of the real-time and predicted occupancy, which would allow an automatic control process to balance the trade-off between energy use and quality of comfort. In practice however, occupancy counting devices are not being wide-spread deployed in the market, so in order to move forward, we believe it is important to estimate occupancy using existing sensors currently deployed in buildings. In this work, we propose to use a combination of sensor data currently available in buildings, such as CO 2 data and airflow, and develop a supervised learning framework that uses existing data to estimate occupancy. We developed two data-driven techniques based on Random Forest (RF) and KNN algorithms to estimate occupancy based on data collected from 4 rooms. Our results show an average RMSE occupancy error that varies from 3.10 to 11.21 for RF (depending on the room) and 2.96 to 8.46 for KNN, with best case results of 1.08 and 0.97 respectively. We believe that our framework can be integrated into existing Building Management Systems (BMS) control processes to improve energy efficiency in smart buildings.

Paper considers measurements and analysis of acoustic emission signals emitted by surface partial discharges generated in various dielectric liquids under laboratory conditions. Natural and synthetic ester and mineral oil were investigated. The influence of supply voltage on the no of acoustic emission signals and on acoustic emission amplitude, within a measuring second and in supply voltage period (20 ms) were determined and discussed.

The Kaizen concept represents a continuous improvement approach to exploiting the potential of human capital. Employees are the bearers and co-creators of values and their performance contributes to increasing efficiency and therefore education strategies need to be directed to the education of university students, potential workers in enterprises in the labor market. In education, there is scope for using the Kaizen concept as an incentive tool that increases the quality of human potential and the level of human factor education. Improving proposals bring the human factor the possibility of self-realization, personal development and career advancement. In the pedagogical process, it is possible to implement the Kaizen method in a questionnaire survey on the quality of education at higher education institutions in terms of the improvement of individual subjects. Improvements have resulted in an increase in the quality of education because, on the basis of the surveys, we have creatively prepared the study plan for field of study Management of earth resources. © 2018, International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. Feature design and selection is one of the first steps towards successful fault detection and diagnosis. Data from different sources can contain complimentary information about a monitored system. Hence methods which fuse features from multiple sources can often detect and diagnose a greater number of fault modes with higher confidence. However, solutions that require data from multiple sensors as inputs can be susceptible to failure if one or more of those sensors cease to function. Optimally a solution will fuse data from a sufficient number of sensors so that the advantages of sensor fusion are realized, while the robustness of the system is retained. In this paper the authors investigate how the best subset of features might differ for fault detection and fault severity diagnosis in a multiphase flow facility case study. ReliefF, which is a K-nearest neighbors-based feature selection filter, is used to rank the features for different problems. The dataset used for the analysis contains data from various operating conditions and induced faults with various severities. It was found that the optimal subset of features varied for different monitoring problems. It was also shown that including features that are ranked as being uninformative into a fault classifier can also impact the robustness of the classifier to sensor failures.
