In this paper is presented a comparative analysis between two power conditioners connected to a four-wire micro-grid. The first one was developed on a two levels voltage structure and the second one on a three-level voltage NPC structure (Neutral Point Clamped), both controlled by the same strategy. The main objective of the proposed strategy is to limit the disturbance produced by different loads. Another goal is to act as an interface between renewable energy sources and the micro-grid. In this study, about 25% of the power requested by the load comes from the renewable energy sources. The investigated systems have been implemented in Matlab / Simulink, in order to analyze the micro-grid harmonic level, the power factor and the voltage unbalance at the point of common coupling.

This paper examines the capabilities of fuzzy logic based controllers in the process of active suspension of a heavy vehicle seat vibrations. The hydraulic cylinder is used as an active element, while the damper and the air spring are used as passive elements for reducing vibrations. MATLAB and Simulink are used as tools for developing the simulation model of the driver seat. The mathematical model was created according to the physical setup of the vehicle seat at the testing laboratory. Description of the seat, including its mechanical characteristics and mathematical model, is given in the paper. control system description and implementation on the experimental setup using dSPACE module, is also explained. The SEAT value is used for the validation of control quality. The obtained simulations show that the developed suspension controllers provide superior passenger comfort for different types of road.

This paper presents part of material concerning decentralized control, taught in graduate course control of Complex Systems. We present some basic aspects of decentralized control design concerning stability and performance and illustrate them on a case study: virtual model of a quadruple tank process. control structure selection based on performance relative gain array (PRGA, Hovd, Skogestad, 1992) is used and its ability to evaluate the achievable performance is discussed. Robust stability condition for decentralized control is considered, which provides the upper level on subsystems, thus limiting the performance.

This paper is concerned with decentralized control design for uncertain linear systems; the main aim is to reduce computational complexity and/or problem size. Two approaches to robust decentralized control are studied and compared. First approach is based on the structured (decentralized) controller design for the whole system model. The novel robust stability condition in the form appropriate for convexification is developed and the respective LMI based design procedure is proposed. Second approach is based on subsystems robust controllers, where the interaction bounds are considered in local controller design. The decentralized control problem then reduces to a solution of robust control problems of subsystems'size. Both approaches has been tested on examples, one of them is presented in the paper.

After recording data sets using a 3D laser scanner, the logical step would be to reconstruct 3D model from given points. This paper proposes one solution to the reconstruction of 3D model. It combines splatting methods with polygonalization to achieve most accurate 3D model of an indoor mobile robot environment with fast execution and rendering time. The main objective of the work, which was done as a part of ThermalMapper project, was to generate an accurate mesh of the indoor environment based on laser scans with added temperature scalars acquired by 6D SLAM method. This is useful for generating meshes of museums, buildings, tunnels, etc. which can be used for inspection and different analyses. A series of experiments demonstrate the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed 3D surface reconstruction methods.

PROFIBUS is a very complex protocol created in 3 layers of the reference communication model. The paper shows experimental way to explain the behaviour of devices on bus under normal traffic and diagnostic events. The paper deals with two communication experiments performed on the same devices on the bus. For measurements on PROFIBUS DP physical layer the professional tester was used. It provides an overview of the signal conditions on the bus and detects the signal quality of each device on the bus. A universal tool for PROFIBUS protocol analysis can perform online bus traffic monitoring. It is able to detect and analyse the PROFIBUS frames for education and diagnosis purposes.
