Ability to produce computer program is one of the necessary skills of today's engineers. Several courses at early stages of study at the faculty of electrical engineering and information Technology of Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava teach how to program in some basic programming languages necessary for engineers praxis. Problem of these courses is student's diversity in programming skills. Many of students don't have programming experience at all and some students know much more than course can offer. Course setting that can be beneficial to all students is very challenging problem to solve.

Every modern university of technology used widely in education computing today. A key decision is usually the choice of software used. This step is necessary to thoroughly analyse and think, because the decision may affect a whole generation of students. In most cases, universities still rely on proprietary software. Often choose by the habit of the Windows operating system. Such an approach is unnecessary increase in funding for IT and in addition prevents the freedom of choice as operating system, as well as software. We have decided to include as the main software package programs from the family of open source at faculty of electrical and information Technology STU - Department of information and communication systems. The advantage is to reduce the cost of license and possibility of choosing the operating system.

Distributed control systems have been one of the most studied and challenging areas in control. Networked control systems (NCS) have become interesting research subject in field of distributed control systems over last decade. Many papers focused mainly on theoretical part of NCS and lots of algorithms have been designed. There is lack of practical applications, which deals with concrete implementation of NCS. In this paper we present NCS that was designed using PROFINET and IWLAN technologies. We connected two PLC modules through PROFINET as well as IWLAN and realized simple identification and control of simple DC motor.

The aim of this paper is to contribute to the ongoing development of the theory of transfer functions of nonlinear control systems by means of computer implementation. Concepts like transfer-function-based model matching and transfer-function-based realization of nonlinear systems that were recently discussed and mathematically described in other papers are integrated into software tools here. MATLAB and Maple environments are used as bases for software implementation of the methods and a few illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the usage of the tools. © 2011 IFAC.

The paper introduces an important enhancement to the robust decentralized controller design for multi input/multi output uncertain systems within the setting of the Equivalent Subsystems Method (ESM). The class of design problems considered includes guaranteeing robust stability and nominal performance in terms of maximum overshoot of the full system achieved through specified phase margins in equivalent subsystems. The developed design procedure is illustrated by an example. © 2011 IFAC.

The paper considers simultaneous estimation of degrees and coefficients of plant model in the exemplary closed-loop system with pole-placement algorithm. The plant has been chosen as servo drive with static nonlinearity, the discrete-time controller has been implemented in Matlab (RTW) and communicates with the servo via AD-DC PCI bus card.

One of the prerequisites for AFM based nanomanipulation is that the position of the target nanoparticle can be stable controlled within a known area, while this prerequisite is still hindered by the uncertainties including the initial position of the nanoparticle and of the AFM tip, together with the uncertain forces from the substrate and so on. In this paper, a Stochastic Pushing (SP) model and a Stable Pushing Strategy are proposed respectively, which can push the nanoparticle into a bounded target area within a given probability. Simulations and experiment based on the proposed SP model demonstrate the validity of the Stable Pushing Strategy. © 2011 IEEE.

We present a new approach for the synthesis of robust fault detection filters for the model based diagnosis of actuator faults. The underlying synthesis model is a linear pa- rameter varying (LPV) description obtained using a combination of analytic and numerical parameter fitting techniques. The actuator LPV model contains uncertain parameters which are partly measurable, thus can be used for gain scheduling, and partly not measur- able, for which robustness must be ensured. The detector synthesis approach is basically a parametric nullspace method combined with min-max parameter fitting. The synthesis technique is applied to the diagnosis of two classes of actuator faults for a civil aircraft: elevator runaway and elevator jamming at null position. © 2011 by the American institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. Decentralized controller Design: Subsystem Robust Stabilization Approach

Abstract This paper studies decentralized control design problem for uncertain linear system. Decentralized control design procedure is proposed for static output feedback control which is based on solving robust control design problems of subsystems’ size. The presented approach uses so called equivalent subsystems to consider the interactions in the local robust controller design. The resulting decentralized control scheme has been successfully tested on the linearized model of three interconnected boiler-turbine subsystems.
