This paper develops a class of iterative learning control (ILC) laws for a subclass of uncertain spatially interconnected systems. Model uncertainties appear both in the state and the output equation of the dynamics modeled in the 2D systems setting to which existing results are not applicable. The first stage is to write the dynamics in 2D model form. Then the stability theory for a distinct class of 2D systems known as repetitive processes is used to develop the ILC law in the case of differential dynamics. This analysis results in a design algorithm that can be applied using linear matrix inequalities.

Singularities arise in diverse disciplines and play a key role in both exploring fundamental laws of physics and making highly-sensitive sensors [1–14]. Higher-order (≥ 3) singularities, with further improved performance [15–19], however, usually require exquisite tuning of multiple (≥ 3) coupled degrees of freedom [15–17] or nonlinear control [18, 19], thus severely limiting their applications in practice. Here we propose theoretically and confirm using mechanics experiments that, cubic singularities can be realized in a coupled binary system without any nonlinearity, only by observing the phase tomography of the driven response. By steering the cubic phase-tomographic singularities in an electrostatically-tunable micromechanical system, enhanced cubic-root response to frequency perturbation and voltage-controlled nonreciprocity are demonstrated. Our work opens up a new phase-tomographic method for interacted-system research, and sheds new light on building and engineering advanced singular devices with simple and well-controllable elements, with a wide range of applications including precision metrology, portable nonreciprocal devices, and on-chip mechanical computing. © 2023, CC BY-SA.

This paper proposes a Nonlinear Model-Predictive control (NMPC) method capable of finding and converging to energy-efficient regular oscillations, which require no control action to be sustained. The approach builds up on the recently developed Eigenmanifold theory, which defines the sets of line-shaped oscillations of a robot as an invariant two-dimensional submanifold of its state space. By defining the control problem as a nonlinear program (NLP), the controller is able to deal with constraints in the state and control variables and be energy-efficient not only in its final trajectory but also during the convergence phase. An initial implementation of this approach is proposed, analyzed, and tested in simulation.

Novel ubiquitous configuration algorithm for power enhancement of PV array operating under partial shading conditions

The power-generating capacity of a photovoltaic (PV) array decreases dramatically under partial shade. Operating conditions reduce the power-generating capacity of the array and complicate MPP tracking. Reconfiguring the PV array can mitigate the partial shading effect. This paper presents a Novel Ubiquitous Configuration Algorithm (NUCA) for dynamically reconfiguring the PV array. Efficacy of the proposed algorithm has been tested on a PV array of 7 × 5 modules for mismatch in power loss, performance ratio, and fill factor. A relative comparison has also been made of the proposed configuration to the benchmark configurations, namely SP-TCT, TCT, BLHC, and BL-TCT. The PV array under NUCA has achieved a 10.8 % higher global maximum power point (GMPP) and 15.3 % lower power loss than the best-performing configuration. This completed research has been conducted in the MATLAB/Simulink environment.

An Efficient and Robust Feature Selection Approach Based on Zentropy Measure and Neighborhood-Aware Model

The feature selection based on the rough set (RS) theory has been an active research topic in data mining and knowledge discovery. Fuzzy RSs (FRSs), an efficient tool to process the inconsistency between features and decisions, have attracted attention to the problems of feature selection. However, most FRSs-based feature selection methods pay much attention to the approximation space while ignoring the interaction between different levels. Note that the single-level feature selection method, depending on the boundary objects, is easily influenced by the noise data and cannot integrate multiple granular levels to evaluate features accurately. Therefore, this article proposes an efficient and robust feature selection approach based on the neighborhood-aware model and zentropy measure. Specifically, we first define a neighborhood-aware FRS (NAFRS) with weighted fuzzy relation to improve the antinoise ability of FRSs. Then, we propose a fuzzy granule zentropy (FGZE) measure based on zentropy by analyzing the granular level relation in NAFRS. Moreover, a significance measure with FGZE is designed and applied to feature selection. Finally, the experimental results of our method on 22 datasets by comparing it with 12 representative feature selection methods demonstrate the antinoise and the classification ability of the proposed method.

The state of network paths is of great importance for the quality and reliability of the transmission of information coming from the IoT devices. Changing network conditions cause the state of a single path to be highly unpredictable, especially when large-scale IoT networks, connecting thousands of specialized devices, are in use. The solution to this problem is to perform trials in a real environment, with the use of real hardware. The rationalization of the design, the implementation and the exploitation of the process will be the main benefit of this approach. In this demonstration, a testbed infrastructure for the estimation of the state of path parameters in wired and wireless networks is presented. The estimation is based mainly on active measurements performed with the use of the Probing Packet Trains method. The key elements of the testbed infrastructure are locally and remotely controlled energy-efficient single-board computers, working under the control of the Linux operating system, which are equipped with software able to track (in manual or automatic mode) changing conditions of a given transmission path.

The unpredictability of random numbers is fundamental to both digital security [1, 2] and applications that fairly distribute resources [3, 4]. However, existing random number generators have limitations—the generation processes cannot be fully traced, audited, and certified to be unpredictable. The algorithmic steps used in pseudorandom number generators [5] are auditable, but they cannot guarantee that their outputs were a priori unpredictable given knowledge of the initial seed. Device-independent quantum random number generators [6–9] can ensure that the source of randomness was unknown beforehand, but the steps used to extract the randomness are vulnerable to tampering. Here, for the first time, we demonstrate a fully traceable random number generation protocol based on device-independent techniques. Our protocol extracts randomness from unpredictable non-local quantum correlations, and uses distributed intertwined hash chains to cryptographically trace and verify the extraction process. This protocol is at the heart of a public traceable and certifiable quantum randomness beacon that we have launched [10]. Over the first 40 days of operation, we completed the protocol 7434 out of 7454 attempts—a success rate of 99.7%. Each time the protocol succeeded, the beacon emitted a pulse of 512 bits of traceable randomness. The bits are certified to be uniform with error times actual success probability bounded by 2−64. The generation of certifiable and traceable randomness represents one of the first public services that operates with an entanglement-derived advantage over comparable classical approaches. With the rapid growth of renewable energy in the power system and the implementation of large-capacity LCC-HVDC projects, the frequency support capability of the grid has been reduced. Simultaneously, the renewables-rich grid faces the risk of high-power shocks due to LCC-HVDC blocking. Existing centralized, single-measure approaches and the model-based emergency frequency control (EFC) methods are facing tremendous challenges. To fill this gap, this paper proposes a frequency emergency control method for renewables-rich grids that coordinates LCC-HVDC emergency power support and load shedding. The coordination of the two stabilization measures is modeled as a decentralized partially observable Markov decision process, and a multi-agent reinforcement learning (MADRL) approach is employed to optimize the power of measures for each stabilization control substation. An MADRL algorithm that integrates the system frequency response model is developed to overcome the problem of inaccurate evaluation of centralized action value in the MADRL algorithm used for EFC. This approach allows for the global optimization of the distributed coordination strategy through centralized training. The effectiveness and adaptability of the proposed method are demonstrated through simulations of the modified IEEE 39-bus system. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The widespread use of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology has both good and bad things about it. There must be a full and reliable security system in place for the Internet of Things so that things can work together in a safe way and intrusions cannot happen. There are now many more ways to keep the Internet of Things safe, thanks to a detecting system. As machine learning and deep learning technologies have become better, a lot of good intrusion detection systems have been made. This kind of study is covered. These two types of security are compared in this study. The current machine-based intrusion detection system is broken down into more detailed categories based on detection technology, data source, architecture, and operating method. These categories are as follows: It is talked about how IoT security will grow in the future and how to understand its intrusion detection system too. In this paper, a cloud-based blockchain security model has been presented for secure data transmission over IoT.

Modern data centers’ providers are gradually moving away from traditional and multi-vendor IT infrastructures to open, standardized and interchangeable solutions that are based on a software defined approach to managing data center resources. The authors analyze the architectural features, requirements, limitations, hardware and software of hyperconverged infrastructures and their advantages in comparison with traditional and converged architectures deployed in data centers.
