Under appropriate assumptions, it is shown through two new theorems that the existence of a positive definite solution for the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs inequality related to the problem of disturbance attenuation for the main singularly perturbed system, can be related to the existence of a solution of a (simpler) Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs inequality arising in the problem of disturbance attenuation for the reduced-order system.

We have developed a method of representing robotic soccer game. This representation is used for controlling robots playing soccer. Our approach to robot soccer is to view it as a local interaction game, which reduces the need for centralized control. In this paper we describe both hardware and software implementation that is used by robots. Virtual grid is described. The virtual grid is much more efficient than representation of game using natural coordinates of robots. This representation can be efficiently used for a description of game strategies, which can be directly used for a faster control of robots. We also show how a can be learned and illustrate our approach using the latent semantic analysis. Strategy learning is important both for developing successful players and also for discovering strategies of the opponent team.

Using standard integral criteria for optimization of speed controller parameters in an electric motor drive result in relatively high overshoot in speed response. Besides that, the speed controller's integral time constant is much higher than maximum drive time constant, which is unfavorable for load torque compensation, in this paper the speed controller parameters of a permanent magnet (PM) brushless direct current (DC) motor drive are obtained in terms of the overshoot in speed response. A dependence of overshoot in speed on speed controller's gain coefficient and integral time constant is derived and graphically presented for easier adoption of the derived results in industrial and research laboratory settings. It is further demonstrated that faster and better load torque compensation is achieved with smaller values of integral time constant and larger values of speed controller gain coefficient A desired speed overshoot is achieved by adding a filter at drive input. Responses on both reference and load torque variations of PM brushless DC motor drive validates the proposed design approach. The results are obtained using Matlab program package for simulation and optimization of the PM brushless DC motor drive.

An integrated approach to control of quantity and quality in water supply and distribution systems is proposed. The integrated control consists in optimising the operational cost, meeting a demand on water of desired quality and maintaining the system constraints. This constrained optimising control problem is complex due to nonlinearities, large dimension, output constraints, mixed-integer structure of the variables involved, at least two time scales in the system dynamics and an uncertainty. A sub-optimal two-level hierarchical control structure is proposed that allows incorporating the desired controller functions and yet making the synthesis of these functions possible. The algorithms for implementing the functionalities are proposed and discussed. Detail design of the lower level controller is presented and investigated. In this paper, we focus on the issue of adaptive H ∞ -control design for a class of linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems based on the Hamiltonian-Jacobi-Isaac (HJI) method. By combining the idea of polynomially parameter-dependent quadratic functions and vector projection method to derive an adaptive H ∞ -control, sufficient conditions with high precision are given to guarantee both robust asymptotic stability and disturbance attenuation of the LPV systems with unknown constant parameters. The applicability of the proposed design method is illustrated on a simple example.

In this paper, we deal with the issue of robust delay-independent asymptotic stability and robust disturbance attenuation problem for linear parameter-dependent systems. Using Hamiltonian-Jacoby-Isaac approach, a parameter-dependent LMI optimization is obtained. It is shown that by utilizing polynomial parameter-dependent quadratic Lyapunov functions, a parameter-dependent LMI optimization problem is derived. Many researchers have been interested in approximation properties of fuzzy logic systems (FLS), which like neural networks, can be seen as approximation schemes. Almost all of them tackled Mamdani fuzzy model, which was shown to have many interesting features. This paper aims to present an alternative for traditional inference mechanisms and CRI method. The most attractive advantage of this new method is its higher robustness with respect to changes in rule base and ability to operate when latter is sparse.
