This paper summarizes our efforts in implementing a working multi-level secure database prototype. We have chosen Belief-Consistent Multilevel Secure Relational Data Model (BCMLS) as a basis for our prototype because of its comprehensive semantics for interpreting all stored information. While semantically superior to other models, this model has not been implemented as a working system before. Our prototype, which was created on an Informix database server with a PHP web client, enables insertion, deletion and update of multi-level data while addressing the underlying model complexities through a number of original solutions.

The back-stepping design methodology of the mathematical-analytical nonlinear control theory has been shown to provide an efficient constructive tool for designing controllers in various systems engineering applications. A novel robust non-linear control design application for electrical power systems employing thyristor controlled series compensation (TCSC) is resolved by means of this methodology. For the case of single machine to infinite bus system with TCSC having internal and external disturbances, storage functions of the system are constructed via adaptive back-stepping design, and a novel nonlinear L/sub 2/ gain disturbance attenuation controller along with parameter update law is obtained. The construction of both feedback control law and associated storage functions is consistently systematic within the design methodology. Simulation results have demonstrated that the controller designed by back-stepping methodology possesses superior performances relative to the alternative designs for the same power system.

Phonocardiography is defined as graphics representation of heart sounds, which rise from heart and surrounding vessels. These sounds are scanned from skin surface. Phonocardiography provides significant help with diagnosing of inborn and non-inborn heart diseases and pathological changes in vessels. This method is particularly valuable for surgeons when deciding whether or not to perform a surgery. During the phonocardiography scan is simultaneously performed an electrocardiogram scan for analyzing heart sounds. Sampled signal are transferred to the computer via sound card input. Signals sampled by software are saved into the database and they are analyzed from the database later. Software allows simultaneously sampling and real-time analyzing signals

This work presents the design and performance characteristics of a novel antenna array structure. The prototype is composed by three equal quasi-Yagi antennas 120/spl deg/ shifted, due to this new layout to allow the configuration of the radiation pattern, forming directional patterns with high directivity, and keeping the same performance as the isolated element has in band terms. The array was designed for working at 2.4 GHz and optimized to include 1.9 GHz, GSM-USA standard. The simulation and design optimization were done by a commercial software using MoM (moment method). There is an acceptable agreement between the simulation and measured results of return loss of the array.
