In the unified European electricity system, millions of power generating units operate in synchronous operation with the same frequency from Portugal to Poland. The common frequency as an indicator signs the balance of production and consumption. If it suddenly changes, there is a chance to avoid a frequency collapse with a suitable quick influence. The ratio of traditional rotating machine production is significantly reduced by the production of solar panels and wind power plants. The mechanical inertia and inertia of the system is strongly reduced. Small lack of energy can cause big changes in the frequency. Although the stationary frequency is moving at a lower level in case of permanent energy shortage, the speed, amplitude, and swing of the frequency change can be reduced with smaller energy pulses. In this paper, we review the implementation possibilities of supplying distributed, large numbers of low-power energy pulses. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, the study of the behavior of wind turbines and its power generation in Germany that an important source for renewable energy is investigated. This work develops a deep learning recurrent neural model that depends on time series modeling to predict the power generation of wind turbines (WT) in every ten mins in a daily basis, and seasonal behavior. The proposed model uses previous historical power data from the turbines and the dependency of short-term points and long-term behavior that common in time series with its probabilistic behavior. However, WT power generation depends on wind speed, torque, gearbox state, temperature that are highly correlated to power generated and WT state in generation, but time series modeling uses the historical previous power generated only to forecast the future behavior that behaves in a pattern similar to the previous corresponding time frame. The comprehensive analysis is implemented to evaluate the suggested model with previous data and then forecast the power generated in the last months of the year. © 2023 IEEE.

Swallowing assessment is a crucial task to reveal swallowing abnormalities. There are multiple modalities to analyze swallowing kinematics, such as videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS), which is the gold standard method, and high-resolution cervical auscultation (HRCA), which is a noninvasive technique that uses a triaxial accelerometer attached to the patient's neck. Deep learning models play an essential role in data driven analysis of swallowing landmarks using VFSS and/or HRCA as input data. Most of these models utilize convolutional and recurrent neural networks. Here, we investigate the ability of transformers to analyze swallowing kinematics;specifically upper esophageal sphincter opening and laryngeal vestibule closure using HRCA signals. We tested the model using an independent test dataset to assess the generalizability of the proposed network. The proposed network achieved an average detection accuracy higher than 90% and 85% for both segmentation tasks, which outperform the hybrid neural networks from the literature, and the model obtained high-performance measures for the independent dataset, showing the transformers' ability to generalize on unseen data. © 2024 IEEE.

The worldwide shift toward electric vehicles (EVs) aims to mitigate climate change and reduce pollution. Advancements in battery technology have significantly boosted the EV industry, accelerating the transition from hybrid to fully electric vehicles. To sustain this growth, the widespread availability of EV charging stations (EVCS) is essential. However, integrating EVCS into the distribution network introduces challenges, including potential power system constraints and quality standards violations. This study proposes an optimal approach for integrating EVCS into distribution systems while adhering to power quality constraints, such as minimizing energy losses, enhancing voltage stability, and improving the system power factor. A Genetic Algorithm is employed to define the optimal locations for EVCS, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) allocation, and V2G power factor. Simulations are conducted using the radial system IEEE-33 bus, along with load curves and EV charging/discharging profiles, demonstrating the proposed approach's effectiveness in improving voltage stability and reducing energy losses.

This paper discusses the use of Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) -based embedded systems to enhance the cyber security of microgrid infrastructure. This may be obtained by shifting the center of critical algorithms execution outside the main processing unit of the target components. The use of FPGAs allow various specific implementation approaches. The modern SoC architectures containing both an FPGA component and an advanced processing system in the same chip might be one of the answers to the cybernetic security enhancement. This solution can be the key in the evolving measurement and control systems used in microgrid terminals and/or data processing points. By narrowing the range of commonly known cyber-attacks, this may represent one of the best solutions to boost the cybernetic security of the measurement and control systems. © 2023 IEEE.

The digitalization of building electrical systems is considered a transformative step towards enhancing energy efficiency. In this paper are presented the design and analysis in-sights of power digitalization in electrical systems for commercial buildings using EcoStruxure power Design software, allowing for the simulation of electrical loads and providing the right circuit breakers and cable sections of feeders based on the planned load. To comprehensively analyze and harness the benefits of digitalization, we initially developed a conventional electrical system. Through this conventional scheme, shortcomings, and devised strategies are identified to enhance energy efficiency, preventive maintenance, proactive maintenance, as well as monitoring and remote commanding after implementation. To conduct the comparative analysis, we present a design of a digital electrical system where implementation within the project is structured across two layers: connected products and edge control. This integrated approach optimizes the operational efficiency and performance of the electrical system while leveraging the capabilities afforded by digitalization. A comparative analysis of the conventional electrical system and the digital electrical system is presented, highlighting the importance and advantages of digitalization.

In this paper, a novel multiband phased array antenna with endfire radiation pattern is designed at millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequency bands for 5G mobile applications. The proposed antenna element is a compact quasi-Yagi with a modified dipole driver to generate multiband operation, arranged on low-loss RO4003C materiel. The antenna array achieves excellent performance and covers wide frequency ranges of (24.15-29.8 GHz), (36.2-50 GHz) to support 5G NR bands;26, 28, 39 and the new allocated 48 GHz. The array can exhibit a maximum realized gain from 8.4 dBi to 11.8 dBi. Meanwhile, wide beam-scanning angles from - 68° to 65° at 28 GHz, from 40° to 41° at 39 GHz, and from - 33° to 35° at 48 GHz are realized. © 2023 IEEE.

Low-Speed Sensorless Control for Six-Phase PMSM Based on Magnetic Anisotropy

The paper presents a sensorless control technique for the low-speed region. The method is based on tracking of the six-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) saliencies with high-frequency (HF) signal injection. The six-phase system is an effective fault-tolerant propulsion for transport vehicles where the sensorless control can be utilized as the speed/position sensor backup. The machine has negligible geometrical saliencies, so the magnetic salience is excited utilizing the flux-producing component of the field-oriented control. The possibilities of HF injection and the demodulation processes for the whole six-phase system and one of the three-phase systems are examined. The sensorless control technique is verified experimentally on the six-phase PMSM with 30° displacement between two three-phase windings and the power of 1 kW.
