Malaria is one of the most vulnerable diseases attacking human health, with rising cases from year to year. Therefore, technological developments are required to overcome this disease. Currently, the examination of malaria is carried out by examining human blood using a microscope, and the results are diagnosed using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. To improve the diagnosis results, this research compared the effectiveness of three image smoothing methods (average, Gaussian, and median filters) in reducing Gaussian and Salt and Pepper noise, commonly present in malaria cell images. These filters were tested on four different noise levels and analyzed based on PSNR, SNR, MSE, and SSIM values to determine the most effective filter. The results unveiled that the average filter depicted the most remarkable performance on Gaussian noise, while the median filter produced the highest outcome on Salt and Pepper noise. © 2024 IEEE.

In this tutorial some basic linear algebra problems: basis change and projection, are discussed together with examples of their applications in signal and image processing. In typical linear algebra university courses perpendicular projections are only discussed. However, in image processing, for defining various color spaces, we need non-perpendicular projections. To rapidly and accurately establish the model of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) and enhance torque control performance, this article proposes a model predictive torque control (MPTC) strategy based on the optimized voltage vector. First, a fourth-order Fourier series is used to calculate the flux and torque models, and a complete nonlinear model of the SRM is constructed using the Kriging model. Second, the torque characteristics are used to divide the sectors, thereby reducing the number of candidate voltage vectors (CVVs) and effectively decreasing the computational burden of predictive control. Finally, an adaptive adjustment algorithm for the sector boundary angle is proposed, where the position of the sectors is determined based on variations in speed and load. The proposed method reduces torque ripple and enhances dynamic response capability. The effectiveness of this approach is validated through experiments on a 12/10 pole six-phase SRM prototype. © 2015 IEEE.

Measuring luminous intensity using electronic sensors requires their precise positioning. In the case of mobile measurement platforms, it is important to detect the light source and thus determine the correct direction of movement of the measuring device. This article presents research on a solution for the initial detection of glowing airport lamps based on camera images. The impact of the selection of parameters and image processing methods on the prepared data set was assessed. The histogram filtration method was introduced to improve the effectiveness of airport lamp localization. The proposed solution was investigated in different weather and daytime conditions. The latest EASA recommendations from 2024 indicate the possibility of using machine learning techniques in aerodrome monitoring. The aim of the work was to analyze solutions and prepare FOD (Foreign Object Debris) object detection software on aerodromes. In order to implement the issue, a dataset of photos and video recordings for testing algorithms was developed. The dataset consists of 1480 photos showing FOD at aerodromes and photos of the runway itself, according to EASA and FAA recommendations. FOD detection was implemented using a classical, k-means method and effective YOLOv5. © 2024 Division of Signal Processing and Electronic Systems, Poznan University of Technology (DSPES PUT).

In robotic-assisted surgery(RAS),traditional surgical instruments without sensing capability cannot perceive accurate operational forces during the task,and such drawbacks can be largely intensified when sophisticated tasks involving flexible and slender arms with small end-effectors,such as in gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery(GES).In this study,we propose a microelectromechanical system(MEMS)piezoresistive 3-axial tactile sensor for GES forceps,which can intuitively provide surgeons with online force feedback during robotic *** MEMS fabrication process facilitates sensor chips with miniaturized *** fully encapsulated tactile sensors can be effortlessly integrated into miniature GES forceps,which feature a slender diameter of just 3.5 mm and undergo meticulous calibration procedures via the least squares *** experiments,the sensor's ability to accurately measure directional forces up to 1.2 N in the Z axis was validated,demonstrating an average relative error of only 1.18%compared with the full-scale *** results indicate that this tactile sensor can provide effective 3-axial force sensing during surgical operations,such as grasping and pulling,and in ex vivo testing with a porcine *** compact size,high precision,and integrability of the sensor establish solid foundations for clinical application in the operating theater.

The paper presents project and its verification of a prototype integrated circuit containing an analog, programmable finite impulse response (FIR) filter, implemented in CMOS 350 nm technology. The structure of the filter is based on the switched capacitor technique. In circuits of this type, one of main challenges is an efficient implementation of filter coefficients, which result from several factors described in this work. When implementing such filters as programmable circuits, the values of their coefficients have to be limited to a selected range, i.e. a given resolution in bits. In the implemented prototype filter, the filter coefficients are represented by 6 bits in sign-magnitude notation, so they can take 63 different values only. In such filters, it is not possible to directly implement any frequency response of the filter. Each time, it is necessary to properly round the theoretical values of the coefficients so that they fit into the available range of discrete values resulting from the implementation. The authors of the work designed an algorithm that allows such matching. Connecting electric mobility (E-Mobility) systems with Internet of Things (IoT) technology is a crucial strategy for modern transportation and driving assistance systems. IoT and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) applications in the field are examined in this research. Different techniques are designed and developed for ADAS functionality, such as lane and object detection via image and video segmentations. Multiple lane detection models are developed and tested, each of which is then deployed on AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud and optimized using OpenVINO to speed up inference. Furthermore, telemetry data from various embedded devices are transmitted to AWS IoT core and presented on an easy-to-use web application. This paper shows how deploying systems on cloud platforms like AWS improves scalability and operational efficiency. It also highlights how IoT and cloud technologies may improve the performance of E-Mobility systems and offers a strong foundation for further advancements in the ADAS area. © 2024 IEEE.

In today's advanced technological age, characterized by innovations like big data processing, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), there is a rising utilization of medical multimedia data, especially medical images. These images, integral to the Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT), necessitate secure transmission due to the increasing risks of unauthorized breaches and tampering. Current security methods, especially for cloud and mobile platforms, often struggle with challenges related to processing capacity, memory use, data size, and energy, making them ill-suited for extensive medical data or resource-limited environments. To address these challenges, this study introduces a novel hybrid cryptosystem, drawing on the unique qualities of the optical Arnold chaotic map, DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid) sequences, and Mandelbrot keys, providing a fortified approach to the secure streaming of medical images. The proposed framework operates via a precise and structured procedure. It begins by applying the optical Arnold chaotic map cipher to each of the three-color channels (R, G, and B) within a medical image. This is followed by overlaying DNA encoding sequences on the resultant encrypted image from the earlier ciphering phase. Leveraging this groundwork, we incorporate an advanced Mandelbrot set-driven shift mechanism specifically designed to create complex confusion patterns within the R, G, and B segments of the encrypted medical imagery. The efficacy of the proposed cryptosystem is rigorously substantiated through an extensive array of simulations supported by a comprehensive security analysis. The results highlight its unparalleled resilience and security capabilities in the realm of medical image encryption, marking a significant leap over previous systems in the literature.
