Background: Capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) is a promising component of mechanical-electrical-acoustical conversion, which shows valuable applications in non-distructive testing and obstacle detection fields. In order to study the influence of dimension parameters on the directivity of CMUTs, the three-dimensional multi-physics coupling model is proposed for CMUTs in this paper. Methods: The model combines multiple physical fields through finite element method (FEM), which is more efficient and accurate. The influence of dimension parameters on the transducer is studied from two aspects: the pitch between adjacent cells and cell number, respectively. Results: When increasing the pitch, the directivity becomes better if the pitch is less than half of the wavelength, the grating lobe and side lobe are aroused. However, the bandwidth at-3dB is reduced by up to 71.1% at the same time. When increasing the cell number, the better the direcitvity, while the change of the cell number has little effect on the bandwidth of the array. However, 5.4% frequency shift was caused due to the effective mass change of the transducer. Conclusion: In this study, a 3D model based on FEM is proposed for the influence of dimension parameter on CMUTs. The simulation results indicate that the directivity can be enhanced by chang-ing the dimension. At the same time, it also introduces other performance issues, such as bandwidth decrease and frequency shift through this approach. Therefore, the simulation proposed the guidance of CMUTs performance optimization and patented technology application work in the future. © 2024, Bentham Science Publishers. All rights reserved.

Averaging-Based Energy Management Strategy for Hybrid Battery-Ultracapacitor Energy Storage System

Considering a battery as the energy source for steady average current and an ultracapacitor as the dynamic energy buffer, this paper proposes a novel control strategy based on average current demand. The methodology averages the demand current over a time window to determine battery current, combined with rules to maintain the ultracapacitor's state of charge above 50%. However, the battery current is significantly affected by the averaging time window. A small window causes fluctuations, while a large one imposes unwanted currents to control the ultracapacitor's state of charge. As so, by optimizing the averaging window, this strategy minimizes battery current stress and power loss. Simulations under an urban driving cycle compare the proposed strategy with a sole-battery configuration, dynamic programming (benchmark), and rule-based approaches (original strategy). The simulation results indicate that the proposed strategy smooths battery currents, achieves over 75% of dynamic programming's effectiveness in extending battery life, and reduces computational burden and memory usage by over 85%. The strategy's low computational burden, and causal nature enable real-time control, which is demonstrated practically on an experimental setup. © 2025 IEEE.

Support Vector Machine(SVM)has become one of the traditional machine learning algorithms the most used in prediction and classification ***,its behavior strongly depends on some parameters,making tuning these parameters a sensitive step to maintain a good *** the other hand,and as any other classifier,the performance of SVM is also affected by the input set of features used to build the learning model,which makes the selection of relevant features an important task not only to preserve a good classification accuracy but also to reduce the dimensionality of *** this paper,the MRFO+SVM algorithm is introduced by investigating the recent manta ray foraging optimizer to fine-tune the SVM parameters and identify the optimal feature subset *** proposed approach is validated and compared with four SVM-based algorithms over eight benchmarking ***,it is applied to a disease Covid-19 *** experimental results show the high ability of the proposed algorithm to find the appropriate SVM’s parameters,and its acceptable performance to deal with feature selection problem.

Without brushes and slip rings, the brushless double-fed induction generator (BDFIG) can operate more stably and reliably, so it is prospective to be one of important machines for standalone systems in the next few years. The stability of amplitude of voltage and frequency of power winding (PW) is major aim of control in off-grid system. Also, the standalone system is oversensitive to abnormal running situations, especially with unbalanced conditions. The unbalanced loads would lead to harmful phenomena, such as the unbalanced impact of current and voltage of PW. To handle this issue, the reactive power loop is presented to minimize voltage unbalance of PW through creating control winding (CW) compensation voltage via converter of machine side (MSC). The simulation is executed to test the performance of presented method. © 2022 IEEE.

To enhance three-dimensional(3D) measurement precision with minimal fringes, the deep phase mapping 3D based on single-frame digital moiré fringe method (DDM) is proposed. By projecting just one high-frequency fringe and combining wrapped phase with fringe order to calculate continuous phase, it achieves 3D reconstruction through training on three process variables, thereby enhancing measurement precision. Experimental DDM measurements of 3D contours for fox and complex face models surpassed traditional single-frame methods in accuracy. Further evaluation on standard planes confirmed DDM's precision through lower RMSE (root mean square error) and MAE (mean absolute error) values, underlining its superior reconstruction accuracy. It holds great promise for its potential applications in real-time industrial measurements. © 2024 IEEE.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a clinically approved cancer treatment that uses energy of light to generate active substances that cause damage to the cancer. Photosensitizers are employed to absorb light and generate toxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) to damage biomolecules like DNA. At the same time, some chemotherapy drugs like nucleotide analogues can provide mechanism-guided promotion in the treatment efficacy of PDT. However, the photosensitizer and chemotherapy drugs used in PDT is usually organic molecules, which suffers from bad solubility, fast clearance, and acute toxicity. To achieve targeted treatment, a reasonable delivery system is necessary. Therefore, we reported a metal-phenolic network where IR780 and gemcitabine were coupled chemically to overcome these shortcomings. The enhanced PDT effects can be realized by the promoted cell death both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, the synergistic therapy also induced T-cell mediated anti-tumor immune response, which was significant for the inhibition of distant tumor growth. This work expanded the biomedical application of metal-phenolic materials and contribute to the wider application of photodynamic cancer therapy.

Establishing early warning systems and efficient management of water resources in tidal reaches is crucial for achieving adequate flood protection. In tidal reaches, the river stage interacts non-linearly with tides (downstream) and discharge (upstream), making the modeling of river processes extremely complex. Data-driven methods have proven helpful for predicting the river stage parameter. This contrasts with existing numerical approaches, which suffer from several limitations. The aim of this study was to predict the river stage of the upstream part of the tidal river, where the influence of salinity is present during the summer months. Using the CNN-LSTM model trained on historical records of the discharge (station of the variable to be predicted), the river stage of three downstream stations, and the point of interest, the prediction was carried out up to 24 hours in advance. By incorporating feature engineering, we achieved an improvement in model results for the longest horizon, confirmed by standard performance metrics, and considered it efficient and effective for risk mitigation. Introducing feature engineering into the data preprocessing resulted in a predictive performance improvement of 0.98% for the Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) metric, 7.0% for the root mean squared error (RMSE) metric, and 7.25% for the mean absolute error (MAE) metric over the second and third-best scenarios using a spectrogram and time-series data.

In this paper, a novel dual-band MIMO monopole antenna for 5G applications is presented. The proposed MIMO antenna is made up of two rings that are T-shaped, generating two distinguished bands: the N77 band and the 6 GHz 5G band. A Tshaped ground branch with a bottom slit is integrated into the ground plane to mitigate the mutual coupling at lower and higher operating bands by redistributing the current, thus improving the isolation enhancement. A reversed T-shaped grounded parasitic element with extra grounded parasitic elements on the partial ground is inserted on top of the substrate, between the MIMO elements. The grounded process is introduced by inserting two metallic vias in each branch of the parasitic element. These parasitic elements effectively reduce the coupling between the MIMO antennas by restricting the current to the respective antenna, thus improving the isolation at the higher band. To verify the design principle of the suggested MIMO antenna, this latter is manufactured and tested. It exhibits excellent impedance matching and high isolation characteristics, and a compact footprint of 29 mm × 42.5 mm. Thus, it is attractive for 5G MIMO systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are digital assets based on a blockchain and those are characterized as unique cryptographic tokens and non-interchangeable. To date, research into the NFT marketplace has been relatively limited. As it is an emerging platform with many unique elements, The NFT market has been impacted due to recent fluctuations in crypto-asset markets more broadly. This current bear market cycle has shed light on concerns around the value of NFTs, profit-based motivation, and environmental sustainability. However, periods of volatility and cyclicality are to be expected with any nascent technology as it develops a product-market fit. consequently, the appraisal of real-price for NFT collections is essential for individual financial security and investment making. In this study, we evaluate the machine learning algorithms to appraise their real-price based on NFT item's characteristics, market event information, and their rarity score data acquired by retrieved from the biggest marketplace OpenSea. Furthermore, the procedures were applied to meet the objectives of this study we built prediction models based on various machine-learning algorithms ranging from Random Forest, XGBoost, SVM, Lasso, ElasticNet, Ridge, Linear Polynomial Regression, TabNet, CatBoost, and LightGBM models. From the results, LightGBM regression model outperformed the other by RMSE around 0.905. The best R2 is only found in this model, which has a value of 0.917. © 2023 ACM.
