The major challenge of inadequate healthcare services in developing countries has been linked to the unavailability of qualified medical personnel and inefficient diagnostic techniques adopted. The advent of technology in medicine has aided the improvement of medical processes including diagnosis. Many computerized systems have been implemented over the years for medical diagnosis some of which included machine learning techniques. But the existing methods lack the power of selecting the most relevant signs and symptoms of malaria and typhoid fever. Therefore, this study develops a system capable of Malaria and Typhoid Fever diagnosis using a Genetic Algorithm, a Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System called GENFIS. In order to train the NFIS, the GA module determines the optimal set of network parameters, saves them, and then distributes them to the appropriate hidden layer nodes. The study made use of the MATLAB environment to test and evaluate the system. The accuracy performance of the proposed model revealed an accuracy of 97.2%, thus performing better than some of the existing systems. If completely adopted, the proposed approach has the potential to lessen the major issues with NFIS systems. Furthermore, it might be used to address difficult issues in different fields. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Osteoporosis is a common disease characterized by low bone density and structural deterioration of bone tissue. For a successful course of treatment and fracture avoidance, early diagnosis of this disease is essential. The aim was to provide a novel method for osteoporosis prediction using Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based framework. The purpose was to predict the likelihood of osteoporosis based on the Bone Mineral Density (BMD), along with other characteristics such as age, weight, height, gender, and Body Mass Index (BMI) extracted from medical reports and images collected from a comprehensive medical center in Lebanon. Three machine-learning algorithms were implemented and tested, Logistic Regression (LR), Support Vector Machines (SVM), and Decision Trees (DT). Variety of quantitative statistical metrics were used to evaluate the performance of our framework, upon training and testing our algorithms. The metrics that were employed to evaluate our results included accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and F-score, in addition to the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curve and the Area Under the Curve (AUC). Experimental Results demonstrated that both the SVM and LR algorithms achieved the highest accuracy of detection of osteoporosis as compared to existing algorithms applied in this field, with an accuracy of 89%. The sensitivity of diagnosis obtained was 98% by LR and 97% by SVM and surpassed the sensitivity obtained by DT. As such LR showed the best performance. The output of the algorithms could help medical doctors assess patients automatically. These findings demonstrated the potential of AI in osteoporosis prediction and thus prevention, highlighting the significance of early diagnosis. Thereby as a future prospect, choosing carefully the framework is crucial and additional algorithms have to be considered and tested.

A simple and efficacious modality of introducing causal excitations in CST Studio Suite® time-domain simulations is described. It makes use of (concatenations of) so-called discrete ports that are shown to accurately substitute Dirichlet boundary conditions and replicate dipole excitations. Numerical experiments cogently demonstrate the approach's exceptional replication accuracy and computational effectiveness. © 2022 European Microwave Association (EuMA).

For inductive power transfer (IPT) systems, the loosely coupled transformer (LCT) is a crucial component. Variations in the air gap can lead to fluctuations in the parameters of the LCT, such as self-inductance and mutual inductance, caused by positional deviations of the ferrite cores on both sides. However, such variable LCT parameters can damage the resonant tank, thus impacting transmission efficiency and output stability. To address this issue, this paper proposes a self-tuning S/S IPT system based on switch-controlled capacitors (SCCs). The system utilizes gradient descent methods independently on double-side to achieve decoupled tuning control. This approach effectively mitigates the impact of LCT parameter fluctuations without requiring wireless communication. Furthermore, all switches in the system operate at fixed frequencies and implement soft switching. Finally, a prototype is constructed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed system. © 2024 IEEE.

Power transformers are the key component of the power distribution systems. Oil insulation is very common in power transformers. The main challenge of an oil power transformer maintenance procedure is the oil insulation condition monitoring. The oil aging can cause the degradation of the power transformer, lead to faults, and, finally, to damage of the transformer. This work aims to present the methodology that should be followed by the operators of the distribution network in order to monitor the oil aging of a power transformer. In this direction, the required experimental procedure will be described, as well as measurements will be presented and evaluated.

Hyperspectral imaging is gaining a significant role in agricultural remote sensing *** data unit is the hyperspectral cube which holds spatial information in two dimensions while spectral band information of each pixel in the third *** classification accuracy of hyperspectral images(HSI)increases significantly by employing both spatial and spectral *** this work,the data was acquired using an airborne hyperspectral imager system which collected HSI in the visible and near-infrared(VNIR)range of 400 to 1000 nm wavelength within 180 spectral *** dataset is collected for nine different crops on agricultural land with a spectral resolution of 3.3 nm wavelength for each *** data was cleaned from geometric distortions and stored with the class labels and annotations of global localization using the inertial navigation *** this study,a unique pixel-based approach was designed to improve the crops'classification accuracy by using the edge-preserving features(EPF)and principal component analysis(PCA)in *** preliminary processing generated the high-dimensional EPF stack by applying the edge-preserving filters on acquired *** the second step,this high dimensional stack was treated with the PCA for dimensionality reduction without losing significant spectral *** resultant feature space(PCA-EPF)demonstrated enhanced class separability for improved crop classification with reduced dimensionality and computational *** support vector machines classifier was employed for multiclass classification of target crops using *** classification performance evaluation was measured in terms of individual class accuracy,overall accuracy,average accuracy,and Cohen kappa *** proposed scheme achieved greater than 90%results for all the performance evaluation *** PCA-EPF proved to be an effective attribute for crop classification using hyperspectral imaging in the VNIR *** proposed scheme

Using a flexible bio micro electro-mechanical system (MEMS) for the formation of bioparticle chaining has huge potential in various applications. One of the established methods is the use of electrical actuation for the forming of a bioparticle chain. The effect of direct contact (non-isolated) manipulation between an electrical source and a bioparticle affects the bioparticles. Essentially, the stability of the bioparticle chain with the introduction of the flow in the system is very important and crucial which warrants further studies for potential new applications. In this work, we have demonstrated the ability to form bioparticle chains either with direct contact (non-isolated) or non-contact (isolated) between bioparticles and electrodes as well as more importantly, the introduction of the flow into the system. We analyzed the feasibility of chaining, the chain length, and the direction under the effect of the electrode isolation as well as the microfluidic flow. © 2022 IEEE.

In the digital age, protecting the security and privacy of sensitive data has become of the utmost importance, particularly while conducting online financial transactions. This paper intends to build an advanced hybrid cryptography model, combining the strengths of the Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithms, to improve the authentication and security procedures of online banking systems. To provide a strong and effective encryption framework, the suggested model makes use of RSA’s asymmetric key advantages and AES’s symmetric key capabilities. Because AES is quick and efficient at encrypting large amounts of data, it is used to optimize performance while encrypting the actual data being transmitted. Meanwhile, RSA is used to solve the problem of key distribution, secure the exchange of symmetric keys, and enable secure communication. The goal of the paper is to create an extensive system that incorporates this improved hybrid cryptography model into the online banking authentication procedure. User authentication, transaction verification, and data secrecy are the system’s three main building blocks. To ensure the viability and feasibility of the suggested paradigm in real-world online banking scenarios, implementation difficulties such as key management, algorithm integration, and performance optimization are addressed. This research advances cryptographic methods of contemporary banking security by utilizing the advantages of AES and RSA in a hybrid approach. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
