Nowadays, the applications of water quality prediction in the field of regional water environment management are increasing. It refers to predicting the elemental values of the water environment in the future based on past monitoring data, which is essential to realize the real-time evaluation of water quality and dynamic control of pollution sources. However, the water environment indicators are affected by various elements, which have a large volatility and non-linear characteristics. In addition, most of the existing water quality predictions focus on single-step predictive modeling of single elements of the water environment and lack multi-step predictive analysis of multifactor data of the water environment. In this paper, a novel long-term prediction model based on genetic simulated annealing-based particle swarm optimization (GSPSO) with seasonal-trend decomposition using LOESS (STL) is proposed and named GSPSO-STL-Autoformer (GS-Autoformer). It realizes the multi-factor and long-term prediction of water quality time series data. Firstly, the Autoformer’s hyperparameters are optimized by the GSPSO to improve its convergence speed. Secondly, the multi-factor features are decomposed by the STL to make the model more focused on learning feature information of each component. Finally, the long-term prediction is realized by the Autoformer. Comparative experiments with state-of-the-art peers show that the GS-Autoformer can effectively improve the accuracy of multi-factor and long-term predictions.

Based on recent developments and technological advances, the complexity and number of systems and services for intelligent transportation systems (ITS) has risen dramatically. The interactions between these systems and services require systematic development methods for their integrated structural design as well as their behavioral planning in terms of integrated control strategies, which can address multiple as well as heterogenous goals. To address this situation, in this work, we propose an approach for integrated modeling of heterogenous ITS systems and their integrated evaluation using approximate dynamic programming (ADP). For this, we introduce a methodology which incorporates the necessary design principles and requirements to address above challenges. Then, we present an integrated systems modeling technique which is used for problem formulation. In addition to problem formulation, it provides a generalist problem solution framework using ADP, which can be applied to multi-domain and heterogenous model problems. To demonstrate domain-specific application of our approach and systems modeling technique, we provide an exemplary model problem and its solution for an autonomous mobility on demand system in a demand responsive transport (DRT) scenario.

Abstract: Due to increased energy intensive human activities resulting in accelerated demand for electric power coupled with the occurrence of natural disasters with increased frequency, intensity, and duration, it becomes essential to explore and advance renewable energy technology for the sustainability of the society. To meet the energy demand of the future, more energy resources and energy conversion/harvesting technologies with higher efficiencies are needed. Addressing the problem and providing a radical solution have been attempted in this study. To harvest the renewable energy, among variety of solar cells reported, a composite a-Si/CZTS photovoltaic device has not yet been investigated. The calculated parameters for solar cells based on the new array of layers consisting of a-Si/CZTS are reported in this study. The variation of (i) solar cell efficiency as a function of Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) layer thickness, temperature, acceptor, and donor defect concentration;(ii) variation of the open-circuit current density as a function of temperature, open circuit voltage;(iii) variation of open-circuit voltage as a function of the thickness of the CZTS layer has been determined. There has been no reported study on a-Si/CZTS configuration-based solar cell, analysis of the parameters, and study to address the challenges that imped efficiency of the photovoltaic device and the same has been discussed in this work. The value of the SnO2/a-Si/CZTS solar cells obtained from the simulation is 23.9%. © 2022, Allerton Press, Inc.

Patients' data is stored in Electronic Health Records (EHRs) for confidentiality purposes. However, the insecure networks of hospitals and clinics puts patient information at risk. To address this ethical issue, secure communication is crucial. The Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard governs the transmission of EHRs to maintain data integrity and confidentiality. This paper combines cryptography and steganography techniques to transmit medical information and images across hospital networks, securely. The introduced framework comprises encryption of patients' data using DNA-based Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), hiding the information within images using Least Significant Bit (LSB) embedding, compressing the stego images using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), and reversal of the process at the receiver end. Simulation experiments demonstrate that this framework comprising both encryption and steganography outperforms existing methods in securing the medical data.

In this paper, we analyze the role of fluid antenna systems (FAS) in multi-user systems with hardware impairments (HIs). Specifically, we investigate a scenario where a base station (BS) equipped with multiple fluid antennas communicates with multiple users (CUs), each equipped with a single fluid antenna. Our objective is to maximize the minimum communication rate among all users by jointly optimizing the BS's transmit beamforming, the positions of its transmit fluid antennas, and the positions of the CUs' receive fluid antennas. To address this non-convex problem, we propose a block coordinate descent (BCD) algorithm integrating semidefinite relaxation (SDR), rank-one constraint relaxation (SRCR), successive convex approximation (SCA), and majorization-minimization (MM). Simulation results demonstrate that FAS significantly enhances system performance and robustness, with notable gains when both the BS and CUs are equipped with fluid antennas. Even under low transmit power conditions, deploying FAS at the BS alone yields substantial performance gains. However, the effectiveness of FAS depends on the availability of sufficient movement space, as space constraints may limit its benefits compared to fixed antenna strategies. Our findings highlight the potential of FAS to mitigate HIs and enhance multi-user system performance, while emphasizing the need for practical deployment considerations. © 2024, CC BY.

In the framework of impedance control, the torque trajectory of the joint is unpredictable due to nonlinear factors during the movement of the exoskeleton. To precisely predict command torque trajectory and compensate for the disturbances, we propose a dual-loop joint torque control system including predictive feedforward and a disturbance observer. A predictive feedforward module is adopted as the control outer loop based on the feedback control, and a general compensation module is used to compensate for the prediction error. The inner loop adopts a disturbance observer to estimate and compensate for low-frequency external disturbances. The simulation, which utilizes the actual torque of hip and knee joints as a reference, is conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method. The comparison results demonstrate that the proposed control method can realize high bandwidth for exoskeleton joint control. © 2023 IEEE.

Electroencephalogram(EEG)is a method of capturing the electrophy-siological signal of the *** EEG headset is a wearable device that records electrophysiological data from the *** paper presents the design and fab-rication of a customized low-cost Electroencephalogram(EEG)headset based on the open-source OpenBCI Ultracortex Mark IV *** electrode placement locations are modiﬁed under a 10–20 standard *** fabricated headset is then compared to commercially available headsets based on the following para-meters:affordability,accessibility,noise,signal quality,and ***,the data is recorded from 20 subjects who used the EEG Headset,and signals were ***,the participants marked the accuracy,set up time,participant comfort,and participant perceived ease of set-up on a scale of 1 to 7(7 being excellent).Thirdly,the self-designed EEG headband is used by 5 participants for slide *** raw EEG signal is decomposed into a series of band sig-nals using discrete wavelet transform(DWT).Lastly,theseﬁndings have been compared to previously reported *** concluded that when used for slide-changing control,our self-designed EEG headband had an accuracy of 82.0 *** also concluded from the results that our headset performed well on the cost-effectiveness scale,had a reduced setup time of 2±0.5 min(the short-est among all being compared),and demonstrated greater ease of use.

Temperature is a common physical quantity with great significance, especially under harsh conditions, such as high voltage, and strong electric/magnetic fields. Here, we demonstrate the development of an all-fiber-optic temperature sensor based on a fiber-end microstructure doped with quantum dots(QDs). The microstructure was fabricated on a fiber tip by two-photon polymerization technology. The results show that the fluorescence intensity of the QDs microstructure reduced with the increase of temperature while the peak position of photoluminescence exhibits a linear change within the temperature range of 26-70 ℃. The developed sensor exhibits a high-temperature sensitivity of 135 pm/℃. The methods developed in our work could have enormous potential for the development of fiber-end temperature sensors.

Controllable strong interactions between a nanocavity and a single emitter is important to manipulating optical emission in a nanophotonic system but challenging to *** a three-dimensional DNA origami,named as DNA rack(DR)is proposed and demonstrated to deterministically and precisely assemble single emitters within ultra-small plasmonic nanocavities formed by closely coupled gold nanorods(AuNRs).Uniquely,the DR is in a saddle shape,with two tubular grooves that geometrically allow a snug fit and linearly align two AuNRs with a bending angle <10°.It also includes a spacer at the saddle point to maintain the gap between AuNRs as small as 2-3 nm,forming a nanocavity estimated to be 20 nm^(3) and an experimentally measured O factor of 7.3.A DNA docking strand is designed at the spacer to position a single fluorescent emitter at nanometer accuracy within the *** Cy5 as a model emitter,a -30-fold fluorescence enhancement and a significantly reduced emission lifetime(from 1.6 ns to 670 ps)were experimentally verified,confirming significant emitter-cavity *** DR-templated assembly method is capable of fitting AuNRs of variable length-to-width aspect ratios to form anisotropic nanocavities and deterministically incorporate different single emitters,thus enabling flexible design of both cavity resonance and emission wavelengths to tailor light-matter interactions at nanometer scale.

Aiming to address the issues of moving speed and overall machining efficiency of a robot arm in path planning for laser flying welding, a method is proposed. This method involves using the non-central point of the trajectory to be welded as the welding position point and is further extended to the generalized traveling salesman problem. Through the analysis of the optimization model, the two-chromosome genetic algorithm is utilized to solve the path planning. Based on this, path intersection elimination and neighbor node replacement are carried out for every iteration in order to enhance the quality of the best solution. Finally, the path planning based on the general genetic algorithm for central welding position points, and the path planning based on the two-chromosome genetic algorithm and the improved two-chromosome genetic algorithm for non-central welding position points are simulated. The results show that the improved two-chromosome genetic algorithm can calculate the optimal solution of higher quality and a more reasonable machining path for non-central point welding positions.
