In this work, an attempt is made for the first time to use the measurement pattern generated by morphological transformation quantified by Hausdorff fractal dimension (HFD) and classified with ensemble learning based on bagging. The proposed work uses three morphological transformations for image preprocessing: hit-and-miss transform (HMT), white (WHT), and black top-hat (BHT). The pattern texture of US breast images is described by extracting the HFD from the regions of interest (ROI) after the ultrasound (US) images have been preprocessed. The main objective of this study was achieved by comparatively analyzing the classification performance of features using the Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees (ET) classifier, and bagging ensemble method based on XGBoot classifier. In presented study, the XGBoost classifier and BHT image processing method give an accuracy of 89.8% in a binary classification, benign versus malignant breast cancer. © 2024 IEEE.

This article supplies a proposed approach Neuro Fuzzy Controller (NFC)-Adaptive Backstepping Controller (ABC)-Space Vector Modulation (SVM) for a five-level NPC inverter-Double Stator Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (DSIPMSM). This paper's primary objective is to enhance DSIPMSM's performance by the use of strong control using the proposed approach. Given its benefits - including high torque density, high efficiency, high power density, and minimal maintenance - DSIPMSM, have recently been the focus of much research. Using the input-output linearization approach and Lyapunov stability theory, asymptotically stable trajectory-following dynamics are demonstrated using nonlinear adaptive backstepping control. The use of fuzzy logic and intelligence-based controllers are increasingly being used to enhance traditional control's performance and output. In addition, the fuzzy logic controller has a lot of flaws that are presently being fixed by the extremely effective NFC tool. The proposed method's worth was demonstrated by the simulation results in terms of durability, effective tracking dynamics, precision, and good disturbance rejection with little ripple. © 2024 IEEE.

Pest detection is critical for achieving effective pest control. However, the current deep learning-based pest detection algorithm is unsuitable for deployment on resource-limited edge devices due to its extensive computation and long inference time. Although lightweight models have been widely used for practical detection, their insufficient feature extraction capability leads to a decline in detection accuracy. This paper proposes a fast algorithm for crop pest detection based on lightweight feature extraction and knowledge distillation. Firstly, we introduce partial convolution and propose a lightweight feature extraction module, C3Faster, which reduces the model's computation and speeds up model inference while ensuring effective feature extraction. Secondly, we use knowledge distillation to improve the model's detection accuracy by using teacher networks to assist in training. Finally, we created a dataset, CropPest6, consisting of six crop pest categories and conducted experiments. The experimental results demonstrate that our method reduces the detection time, number of parameters, and computation by 17%, 38%, and 44%, respectively, compared to the baseline model. Furthermore, our method achieves 93.9% Precision, 93.6% Recall, and 97.5% mean Average Precision (mAP), demonstrating its practical suitability for fast crop pest detection. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper describes a fiber optic Fabry-Perot (FP) refractive index (RI) sensors that provide performances required in gas sensing applications. Presented high-resolution FabryPerot Interferometer (FPI) sensors are based on open-path cells that can be integrated with the optical fiber in different ways. They can be fabricated as microcells on the fiber tip or along the optical fiber, or as external/extrinsic gas cells connected to the fiber. All presented configurations are based on low-finesse FPI as they allow for a simple and cost-efficient designs. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to the development of hacking programs, it has become easy to penetrate systems. Hence, there is a need for strong security mechanisms. The use of traditional passwords has become insufficient to secure systems. Biometric authentication is now widely used for security applications, and it has proven to be superior compared to traditional authentication methods. However, two issues need to be considered in biometric systems. The first is not to keep biometric data in its original form in the database. If biometric traits are hacked, they will no longer be of use. Biometric data should be kept in cancelable forms for reuse. The second issue is the reliance on a single biometric, which limits the verification accuracy. This can be solved by using a multimodal biometric system. Using steganography and cryptography, this paper introduces a cancelable multimodal biometric system. As voiceprints, facial images, and fingerprint images are used. In this paper, the verification is performed through the Mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) of the voiceprints. Steganography is used as a tool to secure features extracted from voiceprints by embedding them into the facial image using block-based singular value decomposition (BSVD). Double random phase encoding (DRPE) is utilized as an encryption algorithm to generate the final cancelable templates. To increase the level of system security, fingerprint images are used as random phase masks (RPMs). Verification is performed by estimating the correlation between registered and test MFCCs. The correlation value is then compared with a threshold value, which is calculated using the distribution curves for the genuine and imposter correlations. Equal error rate (EER) values close to zero and an area under the receiver operator characteristic curve (AROC) that is close to one are obtained from the simulation results, demonstrating the outstanding performance of the suggested system. In this paper various BLE protocols for communication between remote or Android applications and intelligent dual channel (cool and warm white) LED lamps were reverse engineered. Three protocols were fully decoded and several partially. Replay attack is tested and confirmed working. Demo C++ library was developed and a proof-of-concept firmware for esp32 based development board was used to verify the decoding and the attacks applicability. © 2023 IEEE.

One-Sided Lipschitz (OSL) fractional order modeling is a top choice for solving the stabilization issue of nonlinear systems. Despite numerous studies on the subject, there remains a gap in understanding when it comes to fractional calculus. By providing a stabilizing strategy for a certain type of OSL fractional order nonlinear systems, this study fills the gap. A numerical example demonstrating the correctness of the suggested approach and demonstrating its efficacy for the tested class. © 2023 IEEE.

Natural disasters (NDs) have always been a major threat to human lives and infrastructure, causing immense damage and loss. In recent years, the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters have highlighted the need for more effective and efficient disaster management strategies. In this context, the use of technology has emerged as a promising solution. In this survey paper, we explore the employment of recent technologies in order to relieve the impacts of various natural disasters. We provide an overview of how different technologies such as Remote Sensing, Radars and Satellite Imaging, internet-of-things (IoT), Smartphones, and Social Media can be utilized in the management of NDs. By utilizing these technologies, we can predict, respond, and recover from NDs more effectively, potentially saving human lives and minimizing infrastructure damage. The paper also highlights the potential benefits, limitations, and challenges associated with the implementation of these technologies for natural disaster management purposes. While the use of technology can significantly improve NDM, there are also various challenges that need to be addressed, such as the cost of implementation and the need for specialized knowledge and skills. Overall, this survey paper provides a comprehensive overview of the use of technology in managing NDs and sheds light on the important role such technologies can play in NDM. By exploring the potential applications of different technologies, this paper aims to contribute to the development of more effective and sustainable disaster management strategies. © 2023 The Authors
