In collaborative tasks where humans work alongside machines, the robot's movements and behaviour can have a significant impact on the operator's safety, health, and comfort. To address this issue, we present a multi-stereo camera system that continuously monitors the operator's posture while they work with the robot. This system uses a novel distributed fusion approach to assess the operator's posture in real-time and to help avoid uncomfortable or unsafe positions. The system adjusts the robot's movements and informs the operator of any incorrect or potentially harmful postures, reducing the risk of accidents, strain, and musculoskeletal disorders. The analysis is personalized, taking into account the unique anthropometric characteristics of each operator, to ensure optimal ergonomics. The results of our experiments show that the proposed approach leads to improved human body postures and offers a promising solution for enhancing the ergonomics of operators in collaborative tasks. © 2023 IEEE.

Sentiment analysis within Online Social Networks (OSNs) becomes a major challenge. Mainly, because of the large amount of data on social networks and the mix of different languages that can be used in these environments. Due to the lack of existing research and datasets on code-switched Arabic-English sentiment analysis, this study creates a new dataset collected from various online social networks. The data is subjected to several preprocessing steps before being analyzed using various deep learning architectures. Moreover, a thorough evaluation of the preprocessing techniques and the performance of the deep learning models have been conducted. This is achieved using comprehensive Twitter datasets in Arabic and English. The study reveals that individual deep learning architectures, specifically, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (Bi-LSTM), and LSTM demonstrated superior results compared to their hybrid counterparts. Notably, CNN emerged as the most accurate model with an accuracy of 83%, followed closely by Bi-LSTM at 82.3%. Additionally, the paper presents the deployment of an automated machine learning tool, which is Auto-Keras. Furthermore, it designs an optimized sentiment analysis model that aims to enhance accuracy. This approach leads to an increase in the model accuracy to 86%. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper aims to determine the better technique for kidney stone detection between K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). As well known, the presence of kidney stones is an important topic that deserves discussion regarding expected medical outcomes. Most of the detection measures comprise CT scans, ultrasounds, and abdominal X-rays. These measures have varying effectiveness levels, hence used in the detection to prepare patients for specific treatment options. Patients' treatment options comprise percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), and ureteroscopy. The different detection techniques carried out for the patients are essential to test whether the patient has small or large kidney stones. One essential technique is using conventional neural networks (CNNs) technology. In this paper kidney, stone detection will be carried out using both of K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and CNN's techniques. A comparison between both techniques will be carried out to figure out the better. All of the simulations are carried out using MATLAB. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of digital technologies, such as Cyber Physical systems (CPS) and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), under the umbrella of Industry 4.0, has increased rapidly within the manufacturing industry. Monitoring system behaviour in real time is becoming prevalent with manufacturing stakeholders to minimise downtime, maintain or improve equipment efficiency, and enhance production output. This paper proposes a generic IIoT framework for the online real time monitoring of system parameters. Such an approach has been implemented on the demand-side of a pneumatic setup, and a visualisation technique was developed for evaluation purposes. The developed framework paves the way towards further data analytics with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

The monitoring of complex industrial systems through the implementation of smart approaches provides unique opportunities, such as the characterisation of their real-time performance. Within this scope, there exists the need to support decision-making during maintenance processes, due to the presence of a multitude of faults in real-world systems and the difficulty of identifying the appropriate mitigating solutions. The proposed solution uses intelligent optimisation techniques to identify the ideal control solution within these complex systems when faults arise. This paper presents a framework based on an intelligent optimisation approach, which provides a workflow process for the support of decision-making during faulty situations. It is adapted and implemented to the demand-side of a Compressed Air System (CAS), thus providing a holistic approach in automating fault mitigation during real-time system operation. In implementing this framework, multiple intelligent optimisation techniques such as the Genetic Algorithm and the Particle Swarm Optimisation algorithms were adopted and implemented. Both algorithms were successful in providing the ideal control solution under fault conditions. For a typical production case study, the proposed optimisation approach results in a reduction of 40% in its air consumption, which directly improves its environmental performance and energy costs. This result demonstrates that this approach contributes a suitable control strategy for CAS when experiencing a pneumatic fault, which has a direct positive effect on the operational energy performance and costs. © 2024 The Author(s).

Background: Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) nanoindentation is the principal method for the characterization of soft materials at the nanoscale. In most cases, pyramidal tips are used and approximated to perfect cones. However, the extended use of the AFM tip may alter its sharp-ness. Objective: In many cases, a truncated cone shape is appropriate for tip modeling. In this technical note, the equation that relates the force with the indentation depth when indenting an elastic half-space using a truncated cone is derived. Methods: The nanoindentation equation for a truncated cone tip is derived using the fundamental differential equation that relates the sample’s contact stiffness with Young’s modulus. Results: When fitting Sneddon’s equation (which is valid for a perfect cone) on data obtained using a truncated cone-shaped AFM tip, the results show a ‘pseudo-softening’ behavior. Conclusion: The AFM tip's sharpness in nanoindentation experiments is a crucial parameter for obtaining the correct mechanical patterns of unknown samples. © 2023 Bentham Science Publishers.

Cybersecurity has become a significant concern for automotive manufacturers as modern cars increasingly incorporate electronic components. Electronic Control Units (ECUs) have evolved to become the central control units for critical car functions such as engines and brakes, experiencing rapid technological advancements. However, this swift progression in ECU technology has also made them prime targets for cyber attacks. This vulnerability has spurred researchers to focus on securing ECUs. Numerous studies have proposed intrusion detection systems (IDS) to protect against attacks on ECUs in vehicles. Yet, these IDSs are not impenetrable;attackers can exploit them by launching evasion attacks, which can trigger numerous false positive alarms. Such false alarms can be disruptive and potentially hazardous for drivers. Additionally, attackers can evade IDSs from detecting malicious data that can cause harm to the vehicle. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a novel training framework to train a robust in-vehicle IDS that can encounter evasion attacks. Our methodology is based on implementing two rounds of mimic learning technique for training Random Forest (RF) based IDS. RF has been chosen to incorporate the randomness of the RF architecture to enhance the robustness of the model. Additionally, in each round of the two rounds of the mimic learning technique, an RF model with a different architecture is chosen to improve the resilience of the model against evasion attacks without affecting its accuracy. Our Experimental results have shown the effectiveness of our framework against evasion attacks. © 2024 IEEE.

Object detection is one of the most fundamental problems in computer vision, and image sensors are commonly used for this. In this paper, we present the impact of image sensor faults on pruned neural networks for object detection. We compare the error sensitivities of networks after network slimming, networks after magnitude-based pruning, and native compact models. We also explore different spatial fault types with three intensities. Furthermore, we have developed a temporal error model based on realistic aging image sensor faults. The results illuminate that the performance on clean images is important as the mean Average Precision (mAP) experiences a decrease with an increase in injected faults. Additionally, we demonstrate that the size of the model does not invariably yield a decisive impact on error tolerance when comparing small models such as pruned models and native compact models. © 2024 IEEE.

Egypt Mobile phones have become effective devices for a variety of everyday tasks, but while running large-scale multimedia tasks and the applications such as video games require regular charging of the battery, So significant important technological advances are being made in energy harvesting technology to extend battery life. Ambient energy sources are classified as energy tanks, energy distribution methods, or energy harvesting methods, which may enable portable or wireless systems to be completely battery-independent and self-sustaining. This study provides a comprehensive survey of environmentally friendly energy harvesting methods such as radio frequency (RF), solar energy, and provides a summary of electronic circuits utilized in this field alongside various power sources which are compared concerning voltage and harvested power. © 2022 IEEE.
