In the last few years,videos became the most common form of information transmitted over the internet,and a lot of the traffic is confidential and must be protected and delivered safely to its intended *** introduces the challenges of presenting encryption systems that can encode videos securely and efficiently at the same *** paper presents an efficient opto-video encryption system using Logistic Adjusted Sine map(LASM)in the Fractional Fourier Transform(FrFT).In the presented opto-video LASM-based FrFT scheme,the encoded video is split into distinct frames and transformed into optical signals utilizing an optical *** of the developed optical video frames is ciphered by utilizing the LASM in optical FrFT system using two-phase modulation forms on the video frame,the first in the time-domain and the second in the FrFT *** the end,the ciphervideo frame is spotted utilizing a CCD digital camera and transformed into a digital structure that can be managed using a *** test the proposed opto-video LASM-based FrFT scheme using various security *** outcomes demonstrate that the presented scheme can effectively encrypt and decrypt video *** addition,it encrypts videos with a high level of encryption qualitywithout sacrificing its resistance to noise ***,the test outcomes demonstrate that the presented scheme is immune to known attacks.

The efficiency and energy loss of electrical devices are crucial aspects in engineering work. Transformers, being integral components of electrical systems, incur power losses continuously, both when supplying loads and when idle. Selecting a high-efficiency transformer reduces energy losses but increases the initial investment cost. This research study has investigated the selection of transformers to reduce energy losses for various electricity usage patterns by Load Profile data from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) across five cases with load factors ranging from 26.86% to 74.37%. The data were scaled down and used to size transformers according to the electrical capacity of each case study. The model of transformers used in the study were determined by considering the power losses and transformer sizes according to EN 50464-1: 2007 and EN 50588-1: 2017 standards. Five types of power losses and eleven sizes of transformers were considered. The study results show that when considering the energy cost of transformer losses compared to the T1 transformer (DoDk), in case study 3, the T5 transformer (AAAoAk) had a reduction in energy loss by 46.08% with a break-even point in the third year. When considering transformer sizes, in case study 1, the T6 transformer (DoDk) had a reduction in energy loss by 14.21% with a break-even point in the third year. However, in the case of a very low load factor (case 5), the T7 and T8 transformers (DoDk) had an increase in energy loss by 4.54% and 15.07%, respectively, with no break-even point determined. © 2024 IEEE.

This study proposes an anti-slip control system for electric trains based on the fuzzy logic theory, which prevents the wheels from slipping during the acceleration and simultaneously tracks the desired speed profile. To improve the control performance, the train longitudinal velocity and the slip ratio are estimated. By using a field-oriented control (FOC), the angular speed of the traction motor is controlled. The fuzzy control system determines the desired angular speed of the traction motor as the reference input of FOC to obtain the desired slip ratio and track the desired speed profile. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the control system in various wheel–rail surface conditions based on the real parameters of ER24PC locomotive. © 2020 Chinese Automatic Control Society and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd

The rapid adoption of automation in the Cyber-Physical systems (CPS) is triggering Industry 4.0 (I4.0), integrating cloud computing, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and universal network connectivity into traditionally isolated systems. These I4.0 changes are optimizing the performance of Smart Manufacturing (SM) systems at the cost of increased complexity, exposing I4.0 systems to more cyberattacks than ever before. To address these challenges, this work presents DT4I4-Secure: A Digital Twin Framework for Industry 4.0 Security. The DT4I4-Secure presents a framework to create Digital Twins (DT) for I4.0 systems using a combination of models (including physics and data-based models). This paper showcases the use of the DT framework to detect attacks on I4.0 systems by comparing observations with future predictions from the DT. This paper evaluates the performance of the DT4I4-Secure for a computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning process manufacturing a metallic spool, wherein the experimental results show the model can predict normal operations with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.005081. This work also explores using an Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) based dynamic threshold instead of a traditional static threshold for attack detection when the CNC turning process is under three separate attack scenarios. The DT4I4-Secure combined with the dynamic threshold shows a 3.46 times improvement in F1-Scores over all three attack scenarios for instantaneous attack detection while having 100% accuracy during the manufacturing cycle. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, the causal bandit problem is investigated, in which the objective is to select an optimal sequence of interventions on nodes in a graph. By exploiting the causal relationships between the nodes whose signals contribute to the reward, interventions are optimized. First, a method to learn the directed acyclic graph is proposed that strongly reduces sample complexity relative to the prior art and adopts a novel edge detection method based on mutual information by learning sub-graphs. It is assumed that the graph is governed by linear structural equations; it is further assumed that the distribution of interventions is unknown. Under the assumption of Gaussian exogenous inputs and minimum-mean squared error weight estimation, a new uncertainty bound tailored to the causal bandit problem is derived. This uncertainty bound drives an upper confidence bound based intervention selection to optimize the reward. Numerical results compare the new methodology to existing schemes and show a substantial performance improvement.

This document presents a real case study evaluating the optimal design for installation of a battery energy storage system (BESS) together with a photovoltaic system (PV). The selected case study was the UNIFEI campus in Itajubá-MG, Brazil, supplied by the Brazilian distribution utility CEMIG. The tariff structure in Brazil is essentially classified in two groups: group A for customers supplied in medium, high voltages, and underground systems and group B, supplied in low voltage systems. UNIFEI is supplied at 13.8 kV medium voltage level, thus classified as group A4, and with the time of use (TOU) tariff 'Green Tariff', i.e. with different energy prices for peak and off-peak periods and a single price value for power demand. Therefore, based on the campus energy bills, it was developed and applied an approach using the software HOMER® - Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources to calculate the demand power and energy size for the battery energy storage system(s) using ferrous lithium batteries mainly focusing in saving electricity generated by the PV systems during the day to supply electrical energy during peak hours at night, thus avoiding high electricity prices from the utility. Then, it was evaluated the possible technical and economic impacts. This paper contributes to the global issue on sustainable development, taking universities as living labs in energy transition. © 2024 IEEE.

Arc flash analysis during short circuit failure is an exciting issue that has significant implications for electrical design, management, maintenance, and operation of power systems. In this paper, a typical power system of a milk factory with voltage levels of 33kV, 11kV, and 0.4kV are considered for arc flash analysis on the platform of ETAP. The computation results show that the arc flash incident energies at some buses of the system are very high with the index of personal protective equipment (PPE) at the extreme danger level, and hence, the remedial procedure is inevitable. The two mitigation solutions of using low arc mode and arc flash detection relay are then verified. The latter strategy is demonstrated to be able to reduce the incident energy of arc flash at the dangerous buses to the level 2 of PPE, and hence, this method is recommended to apply for handling the arc flash hazard in this power system. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. A micro-grid (MG) is regarded as a localized small-scale power supply system designed for providing electrical power for a remote community, which may be connected to the grid. The paper considers six participants' sites in a remote community. The peak energy consumption patterns for these participants must be different to ensure coalition for mutual benefits and this would facilitate efficient utilization of energy resources. This community concerned may include rural communities having participants such as schools, housing estates, industrial sites, etc. The propose approach would ensure that many participants and their needs are captured and optimized profit of the participants would ensure mutual benefits. In islanded MG, most of the cost/profit distributions in energy trading problems are done based on the self-interest of the participants. Some consider a fair (acceptable or reasonable) cost/profit distribution using the cooperative game theory (CGT) based on the Nash bargaining solution (NBS). However, this method leads to a high degree of dissatisfaction. To improve the fairness and mutual benefits for all MG participants, a new flexible approach is developed. Specifically, CGT which uses a generalized NBS (GNBS) has been proposed, which relaxes certain axiom of the NBS to ensure that fairness of game theory is achieved. The approach allows the profit of the MG participants to be shared using a mechanism based on the negotiation power (i.e. weighted fairness) so that the MG would attain an improved economic outcome. Empirical evaluation of the approach indicates that overall profits using CGT is higher when compared with an independent approach. Moreover, different in negotiation power is achieved in which higher profit is allocated to any participant based on participant's mutual agreement in achieving fair profit distribution.
