The paper describes the energy consumption from the battery based on the current measurements for various cases, i.e., speed (PWL adjustment) and loads. The main purpose of the research is to have additional and reliable information about power consumption and battery life estimation for autonomous guided vehicles (AGV). The authors propose a two-step algorithm. In the first step, a linear classifier was proposed. Then, the KNN classifier was tested;however, it did not give satisfactory results, so it was finally decided to use the random forest to estimate the load and PWL. The time domain current measurement is evaluated, and the beforementioned algorithms process the selected statistical measures. It has been proven that a two-step algorithm allows for achieving high accuracy. Based on the current observation, the paper is a good starting point for further investigation of the AGV because it is usually implemented in the AGV - so it does not require additional hardware. Moreover, it can lead to better energy management and increase battery lifetime. © 2023 IEEE.

Short linewidth light lasers are essential for a wide range of applications, including quantum computing, spectroscopy, and sensing. Stimulated Brillouin scattering is an intriguing method for achieving extremely coherent light laser output. The demonstration of an unstable pulsed Brillouin erbium fiber laser (BFL) operating at kHz is shown here. The BFL works at 1550.1 nm, which is 0.09 nm higher than the Brillouin pump wavelength since the dispersion compensating fiber was pumped over the 24.77 mW threshold. It has an extreme power of 0.7 dBm, a side-mode suppression ratio of 29 dB, and a pump power of 59.12 mW at 980 nm. Due to the intrinsic instability in relaxation oscillation, which generates the nonlinear self-pulsing mechanism in the BEFL cavity, the BEFL produced a pulse train running at 200.9 kHz with a 24.77 mW pump. The pulse frequency was raised to 3.02 MHz. The pump power has been increased to 59.12 mW. Yet, as the pump power was raised further, more than one pulse was produced. This is the first example of generating kHz pulses in a BFL cavity. The laser system is straightforward, small, and all-fiber. These are the attempts of experimental work to realize the BFL with Q-switched multi-wavelength output using a specific length of DCF to generate the pulses. © 2023 IEEE.

The modern digital age demands the skills to be able to assess information. In the current world, access to information and knowledge is abundant from different sources. Indeed, high-quality data are much needed in education and professional development, as the quality and accuracy of information directly influence the process of learning and decision-making. The study aims to investigate the perceptions of computer science students at the University of Dunaújváros related to the credibility of diverse information sources. Within a questionnaire, on a voluntary answer basis, 68 students took part, 59 males and nine females. This work is aimed at assessing the degree to which the surveyed students evaluate information sources based on a five-point Likert scale. The data shows that students find print books and textbooks as the most reliable sources;social media are the least reliable. The study also supports the importance of source credibility evaluation, for which lateral reading techniques and AI-based news source credibility identification systems can be helpful. These findings suggest the necessity of bettering the educational approaches to foster better source criticism skills in the students, especially for online content and social media. The study generally contributes to understanding the information society and helps prepare students to obtain and use reliable and accurate information in their future careers. Using AI-based tools and systems can then further support these educational efforts with robust mechanisms to evaluate information credibility in an ever more complex digital landscape. © 2024 IEEE.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a serious medical condition characterized by the abnormal enlargement of the abdominal aorta. If left untreated, AAA can have life-threatening consequences. Accurate segmentation of the aorta in Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) images plays a vital role in treatment planning for AAA. However, manual and semi-automatic segmentation methods suffer from limitations in terms of time and accuracy. This study presents a deep learning pipeline that aims to fully automate the precise and efficient segmentation of the aorta and its branches within CTA images. A two-step approach is proposed for the segmentation of the aorta and its branches in contrast-enhanced CTA scans. The first step involves utilizing a UNet++ model to perform aortic segmentation across the entire set of CTA axial slices. In the second step, a post processing algorithm is employed to track the continuity of the segmented aorta while effectively discarding false positive (FP) objects. The assessment of the fully automated method revealed remarkable outcomes, with a mean Dice coefficient of 0.941 on a test set consisting of 10 CTA scans. The automated segmentation results are utilized to create a comprehensive 3D model. The study results indicate that the utilization of the proposed deep learning-based pipeline is highly effective in achieving accurate segmentation of the aortic lumen and its branches. The practical implications of this approach extend to pre-operative planning. This highlights the valuable contribution of the proposed method in improving the management and treatment of patients diagnosed with aortic aneurysm. © 2024 IEEE.

This research presents a printed ultrawideband monopole antenna designed with notches at the 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz frequency bands. The antenna incorporates a 50-Ω Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) feed, featuring a gradual central line and ground plane. To notch unwanted frequencies at 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz, an inverted triangle slot and an inverted U-shaped slot are integrated into the monopole patch. Operating across a frequency range of 2.62-12 GHz, the proposed antenna supports the UWB system while excluding the 3.22-3.62 GHz and 5.14-5.62 GHz bands. The lengths of the inverted triangle and U-shaped slots correspond to quarter and half wavelengths at 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz, respectively. The prototype has been fully developed and tested, showing its effectiveness in reducing Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in WLAN/WiMAX bands. © 2024 IEEE.

This article presents the development of a tethered fixed-wing tail-sitter VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle system. The design focuses on improving energy efficiency by utilizing the wings to harness wind power, similar to a kite, while maintaining VTOL functionality. A distinguishing feature is the purpose-built autopilot system, with custom hardware and software components specifically engineered for this application. The study presents the system identification process for obtaining five MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) transfer functions that characterize the dynamics between roll-yaw commands and responses, including the tether angle feedback. To address the inherent coupling effects and uncertainties in the system, robust mixed sensitivity (H∞) MIMO controllers are developed. The controllers were validated through both simulations and experimental flights, demonstrating effective performance in handling cross-coupling effects and maintaining stability under various operating conditions. According to flight test findings, the system can precisely manage the tether angle while adjusting for ground effect disturbances. This allows for accurate tethered navigation, a stable attitude, and the maintenance of an adequate yaw heading. © 2025 IEEE.

Teleoperation is an important technology to enable supervisors to control agricultural robots remotely. However, environmental factors in dense crop rows and limitations in network infrastructure hinder the reliability of data streamed to teleoperators. These issues result in delayed and variable frame rate video feeds that often deviate significantly from the robot’s actual viewpoint. We propose a modular learning-based vision pipeline to generate delay-compensated images in real-time for supervisors. Our extensive offline evaluations demonstrate that our method generates more accurate images compared to state-of-the-art approaches in our setting. Additionally, ours is one of the few works to evaluate a delay-compensation method in outdoor field environments with complex terrain on data from a real robot in real-time. We propose an enhancement to wholesale electricity markets to contain the exposure of consumers to increasingly large and volatile consumer payments arising as a byproduct of volatile real-time net loads - i.e., loads minus renewable outputs - and prices, both compared to day-ahead cleared values. We incorporate a trade-off, motivated by portfolio optimization methods, between standard day-ahead payments and a robust estimate of such excess payments into the day-ahead computation and specifically seek to account for volatility in real-time net loads and renewable generation. Our model features a data-driven uncertainty set based on principal component analysis, which accommodates both load and wind production volatility and captures locational correlation of uncertain data. To solve the model more efficiently, we develop a decomposition algorithm that can handle nonconvex subproblems. Our extensive experiments on a realistic NYISO data set show that the risk-aware model protects the consumers from potential high costs caused by adverse circumstances. © 2024 IEEE.

The inclusion of technologies such as telepractice, and virtual reality in the field of communication disorders has transformed the approach to providing healthcare. This research article proposes the employment of similar advanced technology-social robots, by providing a context and scenarios for potential implementation of social robots as supplements to stuttering intervention. The use of social robots has shown potential benefits for all the age group in the field of healthcare. However, such robots have not yet been leveraged to aid people with stuttering. We offer eight scenarios involving social robots that can be adapted for stuttering intervention with children and adults. The scenarios in this article were designed by human-robot interaction (HRI) and stuttering researchers and revised according to feedback from speech-language pathologists (SLPs). The scenarios specify extensive details that are amenable to clinical research. A general overview of stuttering, technologies used in stuttering therapy, and social robots in health care is provided as context for treatment scenarios supported by social robots. We propose that existing stuttering interventions can be enhanced by placing state-of-the-art social robots as tools in the hands of practitioners, caregivers, and clinical scientists. © 2022 Shruti Chandra et al., published by De Gruyter.

Recently,multimodal multiobjective optimization problems(MMOPs)have received increasing *** goal is to find a Pareto front and as many equivalent Pareto optimal solutions as *** some evolutionary algorithms for them have been proposed,they mainly focus on the convergence rate in the decision space while ignoring solutions *** this paper,we propose a new multiobjective fireworks algorithm for them,which is able to balance exploitation and exploration in the decision *** first extend a latest single-objective fireworks algorithm to handle *** we make improvements by incorporating an adaptive strategy and special archive guidance into it,where special archives are established for each firework,and two strategies(i.e.,explosion and random strategies)are adaptively selected to update the positions of sparks generated by fireworks with the guidance of special ***,we compare the proposed algorithm with eight state-of-the-art multimodal multiobjective algorithms on all 22 MMOPs from CEC2019 and several imbalanced distance minimization *** results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to compared algorithms in solving ***,its runtime is less than its peers'.
