The paper presents project and its verification of a prototype integrated circuit containing an analog, programmable finite impulse response (FIR) filter, implemented in CMOS 350 nm technology. The structure of the filter is based on the switched capacitor technique. In circuits of this type, one of main challenges is an efficient implementation of filter coefficients, which result from several factors described in this work. When implementing such filters as programmable circuits, the values of their coefficients have to be limited to a selected range, i.e. a given resolution in bits. In the implemented prototype filter, the filter coefficients are represented by 6 bits in sign-magnitude notation, so they can take 63 different values only. In such filters, it is not possible to directly implement any frequency response of the filter. Each time, it is necessary to properly round the theoretical values of the coefficients so that they fit into the available range of discrete values resulting from the implementation. The authors of the work designed an algorithm that allows such matching. This report presents the study results of remote access systems for FPGA development hardware during the period 2008-2021. The possibilities and development of these systems are considered. The study made it possible to define the requirements and the expected final results in the implementation of a new system for remote access to FPGA development hardware, which is in the process of implementation in the 'Automated design' laboratory at the KST department of the Technical University-Gabrovo. © 2022 IEEE.

Computationally efficient reductions between some statistical models

We study the problem of approximately transforming a sample from a source statistical model to a sample from a target statistical model without knowing the parameters of the source model, and construct several computationally efficient such reductions between canonical statistical experiments. In particular, we provide computationally efficient procedures that approximately reduce uniform, Erlang, and Laplace location models to general target families. We illustrate our methodology by establishing nonasymptotic reductions between some canonical high-dimensional problems, spanning mixtures of experts, phase retrieval, and signal denoising. Notably, the reductions are structure-preserving and can accommodate missing data. We also point to a possible application in transforming one differentially private mechanism to another. The rapid technological developments in the modern era have led to increased electrical equipment in our daily lives,work,and *** this standpoint,the main objective of this study is to evaluate the potential relationship between the intensity of electromagnetic radiation and the total energy of household appliances in the living environment within the building by measuring and analyzing the strength of the electric field and the entire electromagnetic radiation flux density of electrical devices operating at frequencies(5 Hz to 1 kHz).The living room was chosen as a center for measurement at 15 homes in three different environmental regions(urban,suburbs,and open areas).The three measurement methods are(Mode 1:people in a sitting position with electrical appliances *** 2:People in a standing position with electrical appliances *** 3:People are in the upright positionwhile turning off the electrical devices)in the living *** measurement methods and their results reinforce the importance of this *** results showed that the average electric field strengthmeasured inMode 2 ismuch greater than the two methods,and we also found less electromagnetic radiation in Mode 3 than in the two *** results remain within the recommended overall exposure developed by the International Committee for the Prevention of Non-Ionizing Radiation and the International Electrotechnical Commission.

Arm-based electrocardiogram (ECG) offers a more comfortable and user-friendly alternative to traditional chest ECG for wearable cardiac monitoring in daily health applications. However, arm ECG faces challenges such as capturing extremely low-amplitude signals in the microvolt range and significant electromyogram (EMG) noise contamination. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of dry electrodes for arm and chest ECG monitoring using gold standard BIOPAC and proposed mDAQ systems. This study consisted of two phases. In Phase 1, we evaluated different dry electrode materials, including silver knit fabric and gold-plated electrodes, with six healthy adult participants (N = males and N =3 females) having upper arm circumference ranging from 27 to 42 cm. We used a BIOPAC system as a gold standard to collect arm ECG, upper arm EMG, and reference chest ECG during standardized movement tasks. Results showed that silver knit electrodes demonstrated superior QRS energy (0.705 ± 0.151), surpassing chest gel floating ECG QRS energy (0.328 ± 0.026), with lower EMG interference across movement conditions. In Phase 2, we developed a bioinstrumentation system (mDAQ) optimized for dry electrodes, demonstrating reliable ECG acquisition in both chest Lead I and arm configurations. -We validated our bioinstrumentation with sixteen healthy adult participants (N = 8 male and N = female. The mDAQ system maintained high signal consistency with a skewness effect size of 0.963 and showed a mean heart rate bias of only -1.842 bpm compared to the BIOPAC system, confirming its viability for wearable ECG monitoring applications. © 2024 Fraunhofer IZM.

In this paper, an innovative smart monitoring system has been developed with a low cost for micro-grid photovoltaic systems using LoRa technology. This research addresses traditional monitoring solutions' limitations and explores the advantages of using LoRa technology in micro-grid PV systems. The literature review comprehensively highlights all aspects of micro-grid PV systems and underscores the significance of monitoring for performance enhancement and troubleshooting. The methodology section discusses the proposed system architecture, sensor selection, data collection, LoRa communication use, and data visualization. In the results sections, a real-life view of the effectiveness of a low-cost smart metering system is illustrated concerning issues such as the accuracy of data, transmission range, and energy consumption rate. Examples from real life are used to illustrate how the system improves performance, simplifies maintenance tasks, and helps identify problems in micro-grid PV systems. This research provides insights into exploiting LoRa technology to realize low-cost but efficient smart monitoring solutions in renewable energy microgrids. © 2024 IEEE.

The design of 3D-printed lens for ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna with flower-shaped stub is presented. This research presents four types of lenses with different shapes i.e., cone lens, semicircle lens, Fresnel lens and hemispherical lens that are mounted on an UWB planar antenna. The effect of these lenses on reflection coefficient, gain, and radiation pattern is proposed. The simulation results show that all four lenses, which are combined with an UWB planar antenna. The operating band of the designed antenna starts at 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. Moreover, using these lenses, the antenna characteristics, e.g., antenna gain, and antenna radiation patterns are enhanced. The average gain at zero degree of the antenna without a lens is 1.94 dBi, while the average gain at the same angle of the antenna with four types of lenses are increased more than 1.1 dBi. Four shaped of the lens, e.g., cone, semicircle, Fresnel, and hemispherical, are selected to modify the gain and radiation pattern of UWB flower-shaped stub antenna. After implement the lens, the gains of the antenna at zero degree are increased to 3.09 dBi, 3.35 dBi, 3.72 dBi, and 5.07 dBi, respectively. In addition, the radiation pattern of the antenna without an additive lens is bi-directional pattern, but when adding a lens, the radiation pattern changes to a unidirectional one. It is found that a hemispherical lens is a good choice for the proposed antenna because it has a higher gain than other lenses. Furthermore, this study is useful for lens selection to enhance UWB antenna performance. © 2023 IEEE.

The deaf community commonly uses sign language for communication, a highly flexible way of conveying messages. Sign language involves a limited number of core concepts and assigned gestures. This paper aims to create a sign language system that will enhance communication within the deaf community. The focus is to implement a software model for sign language recognition using a classifier. The approach involves recognizing and analyzing gestures using principal component analysis features and Hu-Moment features. Several classifiers are utilized to measure accuracy and performance. © 2024 IEEE.

In our daily lives, we use spices and herbs. There are thousands of different sorts of spices that surround words. And occasionally it's difficult to distinguish between them. Furthermore, without specialized knowledge it is impossible to determine whether they are fresh or not. A challenging algorithm and highly sensitive sensors are needed to predict the labels and freshness of spices and herbs based primarily on their smell. In this paper, we present AI-powered spice recognition system (AISRS), which is made up of an array of 8 inexpensive BME688 digital tiny sensors are exploited to classify four different types of herbs and spices: clove, cinnamon, anise, and chamomile. The proposed eNose measures temperature, humidity, pressure, and gas concentrations for various types of spices and condiments. For every sort of class, we keep track of more than 10,000 readings. Through the use of assessment indexes at each level, we were able to determine whether or not algorithms such as k-NN, Random Forest, SVM, MLP, DT, and AdaBoost were successful. The Random Forest instantaneous classification algorithm performed the best among others where the success rate for predicting and differentiating between the four classes was better than 97 percent according to the validation data. These validation findings plus the eNose's low power consumption (0.05 W) make it possible for it to be improved and used in portable and battery-operated applications in the future. © 2023 IEEE.
