The onset of Industry 4.0 is rapidly transforming the manufacturing world through the integration of cloud computing, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and universal network connectivity, resulting in performance optimization and increase productivity. Digital Twins (DT) are one such transformational technology that leverages software systems to replicate physical process behavior, representing the physical process in a digital environment. This paper aims to explore the use of photogrammetry (which is the process of reconstructing physical objects into virtual 3D models using photographs) and 3D Scanning techniques to create accurate visual representation of the 'Physical Process', to interact with the ML/AI based behavior models. To achieve this, we have used a readily available consumer device, the iPhone 15 Pro, which features stereo vision capabilities, to capture the depth of an Industry 4.0 system. By processing these images using 3D scanning tools, we created a raw 3D model for 3D modeling and rendering software for the creation of a DT model. The paper highlights the reliability of this method by measuring the error rate in between the ground truth (measurements done manually using a tape measure) and the final 3D model created using this method. The overall mean error is 4.97% and the overall standard deviation error is 5.54% between the ground truth measurements and their photogrammetry counterparts. The results from this work indicate that photogrammetry using consumer-grade devices can be an efficient and cost-efficient approach to creating DTs for smart manufacturing, while the approaches flexibility allows for iterative improvements of the models over time. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

This work presents the results of the examination of the HeLa cell line exposure on the ELF-EMF (extremely low-frequency electromagnetic field). In particular, the relationship between ELF-EMF exposition time and cell death. The examination of cell death hallmarks were examined by estimation levels of selected proteins - FACL4 (a protein that is a part of the ferroptosis pathway) and CK18 (Cytokeratin related to necrosis and apoptosis pathways) in the proposed model of workers exposed to ELF-EMF week. © 2024 IEEE.

Neural networks have become a leading model in modern machine learning, able to model even the most complex data. For them to be properly trained, however, a lot of computational resources are required. With the carbon footprint of ever-growing adoption of neural networks in mind, an approach to reduce the required training resources would be very welcome. We designed a new training effort reduction method based on the calculation of area under the normalized loss curve and assessed it on the electricity consumption forecasting problem with the recurrent neural networks. The results show that the proposed method was able to considerably reduce the amount of computational resources, while maintaining the predictive performance, and thus contributing towards the Green AI.

Speech emotion recognition(SER)is an important research problem in human-computer interaction *** representation and extraction of features are significant challenges in SER *** the promising results of recent studies,they generally do not leverage progressive fusion techniques for effective feature representation and increasing receptive *** mitigate this problem,this article proposes DeepCNN,which is a fusion of spectral and temporal features of emotional speech by parallelising convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and a convolution layer-based *** parallel CNNs are applied to extract the spectral features(2D-CNN)and temporal features(1D-CNN)representations.A 2D-convolution layer-based transformer module extracts spectro-temporal features and concatenates them with features from parallel *** learnt low-level concatenated features are then applied to a deep framework of convolutional blocks,which retrieves high-level feature representation and subsequently categorises the emotional states using an attention gated recurrent unit and classification *** fusion technique results in a deeper hierarchical feature representation at a lower computational cost while simultaneously expanding the filter depth and reducing the feature *** Berlin Database of Emotional Speech(EMO-BD)and Interactive Emotional Dyadic Motion Capture(IEMOCAP)datasets are used in experiments to recognise distinct speech *** efficient spectral and temporal feature representation,the proposed SER model achieves 94.2%accuracy for different emotions on the EMO-BD and 81.1%accuracy on the IEMOCAP dataset *** proposed SER system,DeepCNN,outperforms the baseline SER systems in terms of emotion recognition accuracy on the EMO-BD and IEMOCAP datasets.

Sleep plays a vital role in optimum working of the brain and the *** people suffer from sleep-oriented illnesses like apnea,insomnia,*** stage classification is a primary process in the quantitative examination of polysomnographic *** stage scoring is mainly based on experts’knowledge which is laborious and time ***,it can be essential to design automated sleep stage classification model using machine learning(ML)and deep learning(DL)*** this view,this study focuses on the design of Competitive Multi-verse Optimization with Deep Learning Based Sleep Stage Classification(CMVODL-SSC)model using Electroencephalogram(EEG)*** proposed CMVODL-SSC model intends to effectively categorize different sleep stages on EEG ***,data pre-processing is performed to convert the actual data into useful ***,a cascaded long short term memory(CLSTM)model is employed to perform classification *** last,the CMVO algorithm is utilized for optimally tuning the hyperparameters involved in the CLSTM *** order to report the enhancements of the CMVODL-SSC model,a wide range of simulations was carried out and the results ensured the better performance of the CMVODL-SSC model with average accuracy of 96.90%.

To analyze the physiological information within the acquired EEG signal is very cumbersome due to the possibility of several factors, viz. noise and artifacts, complexity of brain dynamics, and inter-subject variability. To address these issues, this paper compares a U-shaped encoder-decoder network (UNET) and Bat-based UNET signal analysis (BUSA) techniques to classify depression rates in the Electroencephalogram (EEG) datasets. The main objective of including these two techniques is to reveal their effectiveness. It comprises pre-processing, feature extraction, feature selection, and classification stages. The framework excels at noise reduction during pre-processing, enhancing dataset integrity. Feature extraction leverages band power and correlation dimension to extract crucial features. Furthermore, feature selection optimizes classification accuracy by refining the fitness function of bats in the classification layer. The performance of UNET and BUSA are compared based on the following performance evaluating parameters viz. accuracy (Acc), Area Under the Curve (AUC), precision (P), and recall (R) (or sensitivity (Se)). The results indicated that the BUSA technique outperforms the UNET technique. © 2013 IEEE.

Event detection and classification are crucial to power system stability. The Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS) technology helps in enhancing wide area situational awareness by providing useful synchronized information to the grid control center in order to accurately identify various power system events. This paper demonstrates the viability of using EWAMS (Egyptian Wide Area Measurement System) data as one of the evolving technologies of smart grid to identify extreme events within the Egyptian power grid. The proposed scheme is based on online synchronized measurements of wide-area monitoring devices known as Frequency Disturbance Recorders (FDRs) deployed at selected substations within the grid. The FDR measures the voltage, voltage angle, and frequency at the substation and streams the processed results to the Helwan University Host Server (HUHS). Each FDR is associated with a timestamp reference to the Global Positioning System (GPS) base. An EWAMS-based frequency disturbance detection algorithm based on the rate of frequency deviation is developed to identify varies types of events such as generator trip and load shedding. Based on proper thresholding on the frequency and rate of change of frequency of the Egyptian grid, different types of events have been captured in many locations during the supervision and monitoring the operation of the grid. EWAMS historical data is used to analyze a wide range of data pre-event, during and post-event for future enhancement of situational awareness as well as decision making. © 2022 IEEE.

The Circuits and systems Society (CASS) places a strong emphasis on advancing education within its domain. Various educational programs and resources have contributed to the professional development of CASS members for more than 20 years now. A major transformation within the Society was started in 2021 with a clear vision to become a premier educational resource within circuits and systems areas of interest. This article provides a comprehensive review of flagship educational programs and past initiatives. Insights from the lessons learned and future trends in the education ecosystem guided society's strategies and frameworks for improving and developing new educational products and services.
