Perspiration is a physiological response in high-stress situations, that also plays a key role in thermoregulation and stress management. Understanding perspiration patterns is used for assessing physiological responses and optimizing human performance especially in professions such as emergency medical services and military operations, as well as for individuals exposed to Isolated Confined Extreme (ICE) environments such as astronauts and space analog mission participants. This paper defines a Digital Twin (DT) model, that will be integrated with an existing physical sweat simulator module (SSM) prototype. Its goal is to simulate human perspiration under high-stress conditions by integrating environmental, physiological, and psychological data. The system architecture is developed via Model-Based systems engineering (MBSE). The scope of the designed virtual model is to accurately reflect physical perspiration, detect abnormal perspiration patterns, and generate recommendations regarding stress countermeasures. The goal is to influence the behavioral and/or physiological state of the physical twin, thereby creating a dynamic, responsive system. Machine learning (ML) models will be used to identify patterns in the environmental, physiological, and psychological inputs and predict sweat volume, chemical composition, and regional sweat distributions across the body. ML will also be used to detect abnormal perspiration patterns based on input data. The application of generative AI for creating test data from simulation templates is anticipated to facilitate the comparative analysis of two to three distinct profiles, such as astronauts, soldiers, and paramedics or firefighters, using simulated values. The SSM, with its integrated sensors, will serve the dual purpose of validating the model and providing realistic physical simulation. © 2024 IEEE.

The electrical energy systems are exposed to various dangers of all sizes and kinds, but it is still the case that the risks that result in the most severe damage are the high impact, low likelihood occurrences, which are often violent weather events. Their direct influences on the many strategically vital components generate massive malfunctions that are reflected in the degree of resilience of our systems, since they are the first reason that causes the level of resilience to decline severely, a fact that is presently the subject of much research in the field of electrical energy systems. In this paper, we will be involved in the evaluation of the degree of resilience to catastrophic events under various scenarios, defining the concept of resilience and its definition, modeling the various causes of its degradation, as well as classifying and citing some of these evaluation measures significant for the analysis of electrical networks. An evaluation measure has been proposed in this article and applied on two different scenarios, and we will compare the results with the results of a similar evaluation measure that was used in a previous study.

THE LAGRANGIAN METHOD FOR SOLVING CONSTRAINED MARKOV GAMES

We propose the concept of a Lagrangian game to solve constrained Markov games. Such games model scenarios where agents face cost constraints in addition to their individual rewards, that depend on both agent joint actions and the evolving environment state over time. Constrained Markov games form the formal mechanism behind safe multiagent reinforcement learning, providing a structured model for dynamic multiagent interactions in a multitude of settings, such as autonomous teams operating under local energy and time constraints, for example. We develop a primal-dual approach in which agents solve a Lagrangian game associated with the current Lagrange multiplier, simulate cost and reward trajectories over a fixed horizon, and update the multiplier using accrued experience. This update rule generates a new Lagrangian game, initiating the next iteration. This paper presents the design of an Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna (AVA) including open elliptical stubs on either side to improve impedance matching at lower frequencies. The stubs further serve as reflectors at 300 MHz, significantly enhancing the antenna gain across the specified frequency ranges. The Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna, measuring 552 × 700 × 1.6 mm 3 , is analyzed and evaluated to determine its characteristics. It possesses ultra-wideband characteristics, providing it suitable for signal exploration systems, and operates effectively throughout the 298–3000 MHz frequency range, which corresponds to the frequencies utilized by GPR technology. The suggested antenna demonstrates directed radiation patterns at all operational frequencies, achieving an average gain of 8.5 dBi.

This paper presents a study for optimizing a hot rolling mill. The paper is devoted to the study of ways to reduce the effect of shock loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing mill group on the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling stands of the finishing mill group. The elasticity of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling mill has a significant impact on the movement of intercoupled multi-motor electric drives of the finishing mill group. Another crucial route of exposure that influences the motion of the electric drives within the finishing mill group involves the electromagnetic connection between the drives in the roughing and finishing mill groups. The impact of the electromagnetically connected circuits is evident through the effect of shock loads from synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of the direct current electric drives within the finishing mill group. The characteristics of the electromagnetic communication circuit are established by the power grid arrangement and equipment specifications. To assess the quality of work of electric drives of the finishing mill group, it is proposed to use the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap, which is an important indirect indicator of the quality of rolling. The mathematical model of a hot rolling mill that takes into account both the elasticity of the metal strip that connects the DC electric drives of the finishing group, and the electromagnetic coupling circuit that takes into account the impact loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing group on the example of the mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC was proposed in this paper. The nonlinear transformation used in reservoir computing can be effectively replaced by nonlinear vector autoregression (NVAR) for data prediction. In such a method, also known as next generation reservoir computing (NGRC), the input signal consists of a linear part, including several previous data points, and their nonlinear combinations. Here we show that the application of this method to a network with memristive weights (memristors) can be used to predict signals, depending on the nature of the nonlinear functions and the number of memristors. The network allows an accurate prediction of chaotic time series of Mackey-Glass and Duffing oscillators.

This study aims to combine optimization algorithms of feature selection and machine learning models for DO prediction at a water monitoring station. The dataset consisted of water quality indicators from three stations, whose DO was the target variable at the third station. This study used seven optimization algorithms to select the most relevant features. The selected features were then used along with ten machine-learning models for building predictive models. Several models were evaluated based on R 2 , MAE, and MSE metrics. Hence, Gradient Boosting and Random Forest models yielded better prediction results. The results showed high accuracy, reflected by the values of R 2 , which were 0.987 and 0.922 for the training data and 0.769 and 0.745 for the test data, respectively. The findings underscore the effectiveness of combining feature selection with optimized machine learning models for accurate DO prediction, which is essential for monitoring water quality.

A well-known drawback with LCD-displays in cold is a slow pixel response leading to poor picture quality. Low temperatures can constitute a hazard in viewing important displays in cars. Perceptual experiments with 20 test-persons were conducted to find clear and acceptable ranges on screens simulating distortions in low temperatures. The results showed perception over clear and acceptable image quality was impaired beyond -20°C for the LCD-screen in the experiments. © 2023, John Wiley and Sons Inc. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a reduction in the dimensions of a square loop resonator via the utilization of fractal techniques. The 2 nd order NP fractal model is investigated to minimize the dimensions of the square loop resonator. The suggested fractal resonator is indirectly fed via the coupling line encircling the resonator to enhance impedance matching. The suggested fractal resonator has a frequency response of 2.936 GHz, with |S11| and |S21| evaluated at -16.17 dB and -2.09 dB, respectively. The dimensions of the suggested fractal resonator are 10.5×10.5 mm 2 , representing a reduction of roughly 56.9% compared to the square loop resonator. Consequently, the suggested fractal resonator may serve as a sensor for the measuring instrument.
