Urban centers are grappling with increasing traffic congestion, which hampers mobility and reduces the effectiveness of emergency responses. Current traffic management systems struggle to dynamically prioritize emergency vehicles during peak congestion, highlighting the need for an advanced solution that improves both everyday traffic flow and emergency response efficiency. Traditional traffic light systems typically follow either fixed schedules ("Fixed"approach) or make real-time adjustments without achieving long-term efficiency ("Greedy"approach), often failing to effectively balance regular traffic dynamics with emergency needs. We propose the "Avg Log "method, an adaptive Q-learning strategy that enhances conventional traffic management systems by incorporating an emergency-aware module. This module uses real-time data to prioritize emergency vehicles and adjust traffic signals accordingly. Additionally, our approach employs a multi-objective optimization algorithm to strengthen communication infrastructure, optimizing latency, throughput, and reliability. Through simulations in a multi-intersection urban setting, we compared the performance of our method against the standard "Greedy"and "Fixed"approaches. Key metrics assessed included average waiting times, system throughput, and the efficiency of emergency vehicle passage. The "Avg Log"method outperformed traditional methods, showing superior long-term adaptability and learning. It demonstrated lower average waiting times and effectively managed emergency situations, significantly reducing delays for emergency vehicles compared to both control methods. This method provides an efficient balance between overall traffic flow and emergency prioritization, suggesting a scalable solution for complex urban environments. © 2025 IEEE.

While deep learning excels in computer vision tasks with abundant labeled data, its performance diminishes significantly in scenarios with limited labeled samples. To address this, Few-shot learning (FSL) enables models to perform the target tasks with very few labeled examples by leveraging prior knowledge from related tasks. However, traditional FSL assumes that both the related and target tasks come from the same domain, which is a restrictive assumption in many real-world scenarios where domain differences are common. To overcome this limitation, Cross-domain few-shot learning (CDFSL) has gained attention, as it allows source and target data to come from different domains and label spaces. This article presents the first comprehensive review of Cross-domain Few-shot Learning (CDFSL), a field that has received less attention compared to traditional FSL due to its unique challenges. We aim at providing both a position article and a tutorial for researchers, covering key problems, existing methods, and future research directions. The review begins with a formal definition of CDFSL, outlining its core challenges, followed by a systematic analysis of current approaches, organized under a clear taxonomy. Finally, we discuss promising future directions in terms of problem setups, applications, and theoretical advancements. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

The Equilibrium Optimiser(EO)has been demonstrated to be one of the metaheuristic algorithms that can effectively solve global optimisation *** the paradox between exploration and exploitation operations while enhancing the ability to jump out of the local optimum are two key points to be addressed in EO *** alleviate these limitations,an EO variant named adaptive elite-guided Equilibrium Optimiser(AEEO)is ***,the adaptive elite-guided search mechanism enhances the balance between exploration and *** modified mutualism phase reinforces the information interaction among particles and local optima *** cooperation of these two mechanisms boosts the overall performance of the basic *** AEEO is subjected to competitive experiments with state-of-the-art algorithms and modified algorithms on 23 classical benchmark functions and IEE CEC 2017 function test *** results demonstrate that AEEO outperforms several well-performing EO variants,DE variants,PSO variants,SSA variants,and GWO variants in terms of convergence speed and *** addition,the AEEO algorithm is used for the edge server(ES)placement problem in mobile edge computing(MEC)*** experimental results show that the author’s approach outperforms the representative approaches compared in terms of access latency and deployment cost.

This study examines the efficacy of a deep learning-based binaural speech reproduction system via headphones that integrates real-time head tracking to simulate a stable speech source in a virtual environment. We developed a binaural speech reproduction system that operates in real time using a custom head-tracking device based on the Arduino platform and a pre-trained neural network model for binaural speech synthesis. The system dynamically adapts audio output based on the head orientation of the listener, operating with an overall latency of 70 ms on standard computing hardware. We conducted a subjective speech localization task with 15 young, normal-hearing participants. Initial results showed a 40% accuracy in localizing a static speech source, which significantly improved with dynamic head movements. Participants reported minimal dizziness and distortion, indicating good tolerability and sound quality. Despite some limitations, such as non-personalized settings and perceivable latency, the findings demonstrate the potential of deep learning approaches to enhance realism in virtual auditory environments. Further research is needed to refine these technologies for broader applications in immersive audio settings. © AES Madrid 2024: 156th Audio engineering Society Convention. All rights reserved.

Intrusion detection systems are the primitive elements in safeguarding vital infrastructures, which are able to identify malicious activity on hosts or networks. The efficient IDS must be able to handle a variety of threats is a difficult security cum threat related problems. Numerous strategies have been put out in the literature as of right now to increase intrusion detection efficiency while taking into account some of these restrictions, like mobility and resource limitations. This review paper discusses about the early research works on performed on IDS using Deep Learning and Machine Learning techniques. This paper provides a qualitative assessment of these methods and deeper insights about the analysis as well as a summary of the field's current themes and the methods used to train and implement IDSs. We address the overall limitations of these solutions, namely the types of attacks that these approaches are unable to identify and the setup limitations that are specific to each of these works, even though they offer insightful information and solutions for certain aspects of these constraints. © 2024 IEEE.

Network management and multimedia data mining techniques have a great interest in analyzing and improving the network traffic *** recent times,the most complex task in Software Defined Network(SDN)is security,which is based on a centralized,programmable ***,monitoring network traffic is significant for identifying and revealing intrusion abnormalities in the SDN ***,this paper provides an extensive analysis and investigation of the NSL-KDD dataset using five different clustering algorithms:K-means,Farthest First,Canopy,Density-based algorithm,and Exception-maximization(EM),using the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis(WEKA)software to compare extensively between these five ***,this paper presents an SDN-based intrusion detection system using a deep learning(DL)model with the KDD(Knowledge Discovery in Databases)***,the utilized dataset is clustered into normal and four major attack categories via the clustering ***,a deep learning method is projected for building an efficient SDN-based intrusion detection *** results provide a comprehensive analysis and a flawless reasonable study of different kinds of attacks incorporated in the KDD ***,the outcomes reveal that the proposed deep learning method provides efficient intrusion detection performance compared to existing *** example,the proposed method achieves a detection accuracy of 94.21%for the examined dataset.

Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD)is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by significant challenges in social interaction,communication,and repetitive *** and precise ASD detection is crucial,particularly in regions with limited diagnostic resources like *** study aims to conduct an extensive comparative analysis of various machine learning classifiers for ASD detection using facial images to identify an accurate and cost-effective solution tailored to the local *** research involves experimentation with VGG16 and MobileNet models,exploring different batch sizes,optimizers,and learning rate *** addition,the“Orange”machine learning tool is employed to evaluate classifier performance and automated image processing capabilities are utilized within the *** findings unequivocally establish VGG16 as the most effective classifier with a 5-fold cross-validation ***,VGG16,with a batch size of 2 and the Adam optimizer,trained for 100 epochs,achieves a remarkable validation accuracy of 99% and a testing accuracy of 87%.Furthermore,the model achieves an F1 score of 88%,precision of 85%,and recall of 90% on test *** validate the practical applicability of the VGG16 model with 5-fold cross-validation,the study conducts further testing on a dataset sourced fromautism centers in Pakistan,resulting in an accuracy rate of 85%.This reaffirms the model’s suitability for real-world ASD *** research offers valuable insights into classifier performance,emphasizing the potential of machine learning to deliver precise and accessible ASD diagnoses via facial image analysis.

This study proposes a potential solution to alleviate the risk of back pain and injuries faced by caregivers in assisting wheelchair-bound patients in Malaysia, particularly those from low-income households, while getting in and out of cars. Manual lifting and transferring of patients often cause back pain or muscle injuries among caregivers. An assistive lifting and transferring device is proposed to alleviate these challenges. The device is portable and detachable. The objective is to reduce the risk of injuries among caregivers while facilitating safe transfers. Its base is adjustable for most sizes of wheelchairs and is portable and detachable, making it easy to carry in the car. It was tested and has demonstrated excellent performance in lifting and transferring patients weighing up to 100kg. The trials have suggested that the improved safety feature and convenience design could promote the mental and physical health of wheelchair-bound patients and their caregivers, aligned with the third goal of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). © 2024 IEEE.
