Different architectures of thin film bilayers based on TiO2 and CuO for green hydrogen generation

Green hydrogen becomes one of the most important of all other forms due to ecological issues, described in directives requiring the transformation to energy sources with the lowest possible carbon footprint. The application of the PhotoElectrochemical Cell where hydrogen is produced with the direct use of solar energy is the best solution. Bilayer and multilayered systems based on CuO, especially in combination with TiO2 seem to be the most frequently studied of all heterostructured nanomaterials when considering green hydrogen generation. The interface created between rough surface of CuO and smooth TiO2 surface ensures the highest photocurrent when the top layer is of about 150 nm. For CuO(top)/TiO2 heterojunction characterized by rough/rough interface, photoeletrochemical performance also improves with increasing thickness of the top layer up to 100 nm. The cathodic character of the photocurrent is observed for both TiO2(top)/CuO and CuO(top)/TiO2 bilayers. © 2025 The Authors

Arabidopsis thaliana is an important and long-established model species for plant molecular biology,genetics,epigenetics,and ***,the latest version of reference genome still contains a significant number of missing ***,we reported a high-quality and almost complete Col-0 genome assembly with two gaps(named Col-XJTU)by combining the Oxford Nanopore Technologies ultra-long reads,Pacific Biosciences high-fidelity long reads,and Hi-C *** total genome assembly size is 133,725,193 bp,introducing 14.6 Mb of novel sequences compared to the TAIR10.1 reference *** five chromosomes of the Col-XJTU assembly are highly accurate with consensus quality(QV)scores>60(ranging from 62 to 68),which are higher than those of the TAIR10.1 reference(ranging from 45 to 52).We completely resolved chromosome(Chr)3 and Chr5 in a telomere-to-telomere ***4 was completely resolved except the nucleolar organizing regions,which comprise long repetitive DNA *** Chrl centromere(CEN1),reportedly around 9 Mb in length,is particularly challenging to assemble due to the presence of tens of thousands of CEN180 satellite *** the cutting-edge sequencing data and novel computational approaches,we assembled a 3.8-Mb-long CEN1 and a 3.5-Mb-long *** also investigated the structure and epigenetics of *** clusters of CEN180 monomers were detected,and the centromere-specific histone H3-like protein(CENH3)exhibited a strong preference for CEN180 Cluster ***,we observed hypomethylation patterns in CENH3-enriched *** believe that this high-quality genome assembly,Col-XJTU,would serve as a valuable reference to better understand the global pattern of centromeric polymorphisms,as well as the genetic and epigenetic features in plants.

Image fusion has become one of the interesting fields that attract researchers to integrate information from different image *** is involved in several *** of the recent applications is the robotic *** application necessitates image enhancement of both infrared(IR)and visible *** paper presents a Robot Human Interaction System(RHIS)based on image fusion and deep *** basic objective of this system is to fuse visual and IR images for efficient feature extraction from the captured ***,an enhancement model is carried out on the fused image to increase its *** image enhancement models such as fuzzy logic,Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and residual network(ResNet)pre-trained model are utilized on the fusion results and they are compared with each other and with the state-of-the-art *** results prove that the fuzzy logic enhancement gives the best results from the image quality ***,the proposed system can be considered as an efficient solution for the robotic vision problem with multi-modality images.

Novel Ransomware Hiding Model Using HEVC Steganography Approach

Ransomware is considered one of the most threatening *** solutions have focused mainly on discriminating ransomware by analyzing the apps themselves,but they have overlooked possible ways of hiding ransomware apps and making them difficult to be detected and then ***,this paper proposes a novel ransomware hiding model by utilizing a block-based High-Efficiency Video Coding(HEVC)steganography *** main idea of the proposed steganography approach is the division of the secret ransomware data and cover HEVC frames into different *** that,the Least Significant Bit(LSB)based Hamming Distance(HD)calculation is performed amongst the secret data’s divided blocks and cover ***,the secret data bits are hidden into the marked bits of the cover HEVC frame-blocks based on the calculated HD *** main advantage of the suggested steganography approach is the minor impact on the cover HEVC frames after embedding the ransomware while preserving the histogram attributes of the cover video frame with a high *** is due to the utilization of an adaptive steganography cost function during the embedding *** proposed ransomware hiding approach was heavily examined using subjective and objective tests and applying different HEVC streams with diverse resolutions and different secret ransomware apps of various *** obtained results prove the efficiency of the proposed steganography approach by achieving high capacity and successful embedding process while ensuring the hidden ransomware’s undetectability within the video *** example,in terms of embedding quality,the proposed model achieved a high peak signal-to-noise ratio that reached 59.3 dB and a low mean-square-error of 0.07 for the examined HEVC ***,out of 65 antivirus engines,no engine could detect the existence of the embedded ransomware app.

Natural disasters (NDs) have always been a major threat to human lives and infrastructure, causing immense damage and loss. In recent years, the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters have highlighted the need for more effective and efficient disaster management strategies. In this context, the use of technology has emerged as a promising solution. In this survey paper, we explore the employment of recent technologies in order to relieve the impacts of various natural disasters. We provide an overview of how different technologies such as Remote Sensing, Radars and Satellite Imaging, internet-of-things (IoT), Smartphones, and Social Media can be utilized in the management of NDs. By utilizing these technologies, we can predict, respond, and recover from NDs more effectively, potentially saving human lives and minimizing infrastructure damage. The paper also highlights the potential benefits, limitations, and challenges associated with the implementation of these technologies for natural disaster management purposes. While the use of technology can significantly improve NDM, there are also various challenges that need to be addressed, such as the cost of implementation and the need for specialized knowledge and skills. Overall, this survey paper provides a comprehensive overview of the use of technology in managing NDs and sheds light on the important role such technologies can play in NDM. By exploring the potential applications of different technologies, this paper aims to contribute to the development of more effective and sustainable disaster management strategies. © 2023 The Authors

Future communication generation such as 6G and beyond will be utilizing the terahertz band, as this range promises potential benefits such as a high data rate. However, designing different electronic components for 6G is complicated and has low fabrication precision due to its small wavelength. Additionally, the cost is also very high as compared to 5G components. These antennas feature high data rates, small size, and high bandwidth and are a critical component for the communication system. Therefore, in this study, an antenna design is proposed for the future sub-THz communication system that operates at D- band which is proposed for the 6G communication system. The simulation analysis shows that the proposed antenna has a high gain of 9.9 dBi at 120 GHz operating frequency and good performance characteristics for the complete D-band. The design of the proposed antenna is simple, low-cost, and does not require any complex fabrication, and can be the potential leaky-wave antenna for future 6G if properly excited. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-enabled cell-free millimeter-wave multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. Therein, multiple base stations (BSs) serve multiple users by using the SWIPT based on power-splitting (PS) protocol. To further improve the system throughput and harvested energy, multiple intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs) are deployed. We formulate an optimization problem that aims to optimize the beamformers of the BSs, phase shifts of the IRSs, and PS factors at users to maximize the minimum energy efficiency of the users. The max-min energy efficiency optimization problem is computationally intractable, and we propose an alternating descent algorithm to solve it with low computational complexity. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

In this study, an indirect-field-oriented control (IFOC) of an induction motor (IM) was simulated and its speed was estimated using the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) topology of the modified voltage-model-based rotor-flux-oriented current model. As this study dealt with the convolutional neural network (CNN) implemented as the speed controller for the outer-loop control, the inner-loop control used proportional-integral (PI) control to control the current that was fed to the space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) algorithm. The CNN used two inputs based on speed error, and it was designed and trained offline by employing the backpropagation (BP) algorithm to minimize the error between the desired speed and the speed estimated by the estimator and to improve the model's speed-tracking capability when there was an unpredicted speed at the input. The study also used a variable speed trajectory for testing with various speed references to mimic road speed conditions. The results are in good agreement with those of similar studies, and a comparison between the performances of the PI controller and the proposed CNN controller indicated that the CNN controller yielded a superior performance on IM speed. © 2023 IEEE.

This research aimed to introduce multibeam quarter-cut Radial Line Slot Array (RLSA) antennas for the first time. These antennas are distinct from the multibeam full-circle RLSA due to the use of quarter RLSA, making it suitable for small devices. To achieve beams directed to the backside, an unconventional approach was taken by placing slots on the antenna’s background. A technique comprising the deletion of specific slot pairs in the radiating element was introduced to balance the gain and beam shape. Furthermore, thirty-six multibeam quarter RLSA models were designed and simulated. The best model was then fabricated and measured to validate the simulation results. Consequently, the results showed the possibility of designing multibeam antennas with symmetrical beams in terms of gain, direction, and beamwidth, which were 6.23 dBi, 37◦, 145◦, and 34◦, respectively. The gain of 6.23 dBi was 3 dB less than the single-beam antennas, consistent with the theory of beam splitting. Additionally, antennas exhibited low reflection and a broad bandwidth suitable for Wi-Fi needs. Finally, the agreement between measurement and simulation validated the design of antennas. © 2024, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

In recent years, advances in automotive IoT technology have not only improved automated driving and driving convenience but have also led to a diminishing number of traffic accidents. Vehicle Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) have attracted much attention because automotive IoT is based on wireless communications. Ad-hoc routing protocols that apply the characteristics of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) networks are needed. One of them is Greedy Perimeter Stateless Forwarding (GPSR), a routing protocol using geographic information. It uses Global Positioning System (GPS) information for routing. However, GPSR may increase the packet drop rate due to radio attenuation and fading. Therefore, C. Li et al. proposed to select the next hop by evaluating the link quality. However, due to the large moving speed of the node, the next hop may be out of the radio propagation range at the communication timing. Therefore, in this study, we propose a new routing method that combines the future location prediction proposed by Z.S. Houssaini et al. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated by simulations using ns-3 with traffic data acquired by SUMO. © 2023 IEEE.
