Improved Quaternion Discriminant Analysis for Feature Extraction and Classification of Hyperspectral Image

Real domain discriminant analysis (RDA) can not solve the crosstalk of strong correlation between adjacent spectral bands, and also causes spectral information loss of hyperspectral image (HSI). As a result, the effect of feature extraction is not ideal. Besides, in the case of small samples, using quaternion discriminant analysis (QDA) based on Cos-sin Decomposition, the matrix obtained by the first orthogonal trigonometric decomposition is not a diagonal matrix, that makes the projection axis not optimal. To solve these problems, firstly, a quaternion discriminant analysis method based on stable quaternion Cossin Decomposition (QDASG) is proposed to solve the small sample problem. Secondly, this paper theoretically analyzes that when the number of projection axes in QDASG is smaller than that in traditional DA methods, the discriminant formula can achieve optimal results, and verifies this conclusion through experiments. Then, according to the number of training samples, the implementation process of QDA is discussed in two cases. Finally, spatial filtering is used to extract spatial information, and the distance quotient formula between classes is proposed as the standard for selecting the the optimal number of stacking layers for the filter. Experimental results show that this method is effective compared with deep learning method and and other traditional machine learning methods, especially in the case of small samples. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

We present an advanced energy prediction model that addresses energy imbalance by integrating Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) with Attention Mechanism for time-series analysis and categorical boosting (CatBoost) for categorical feature optimization. This model accurately predicts the complex energy behaviors of prosumers who both generate and consume energy. Simulation results show that our model outperforms traditional methods with the lowest Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 48.514. By achieving such a high level of accuracy, this model improves grid operation efficiency, offers a practical solution for smart grid management. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, circuit design of high-frequency active quasi-circulator for full-duplex wireless systems have attracted wide attention in the area of Microwave and Radio Frequency (RF) circuits. This paper presents the design of an active quasi-circulator intended for operation in the 60 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) radio band, employing 22nm FD-SOI technology. The goal is to achieve a low noise figure, superior isolation, and a high-power handling capability, as measured by the 1 dB compression point. The quasi-circulator design incorporates a Wilkinson power divider and low noise amplifier, yielding a noise figure of 7 dB, 18 dBm power handling, 20 dB isolation, and 2.08 mW power consumption. © 2023 IEEE.

There are many difficulties in managing and detecting preterm pregnancies, especially in the early stages. Analyzing electrohysterogram data, which show the electrical activity of uterine muscles, is a promising non-invasive method for classifying term and preterm pregnancies. However, the effectiveness of machine learning classifiers is hampered by the inherent class imbalance in datasets. In order to overcome this constraint, this study uses a Generative Adversarial Network to produce high-quality synthetic EHG data while maintaining the statistical properties of actual signals. By successfully reducing class imbalance, the enhanced dataset makes it possible for machine learning models to be trained with resilience. Real and synthetic features did not differ significantly, according to statistical validation using a t-test (p > 0.05). With this method, the Random Forest classifier obtained a ROC-AUC of 0.99 and a 10-fold cross-validation accuracy of 98%. The suggested GAN-based method’s simplicity and efficacy demonstrate its promise for resolving class imbalance and developing reliable classification systems for diagnostic applications. © 2013 IEEE.

Performance prediction is a tool that may help to understand the students' behaviors and challenges for their overall academic growth. Though the whole teaching pedagogy has enormous hills and valleys and cannot be clubbed together, some data mining and machine learning studies can be done to recapitulate the students' clusters according to their mindsets and capabilities. Student result prediction is tremendously important because student performance is the first step that helps in selecting electives for their advanced learning and placements too. The internal exams are the midterm evaluations of the student that help a teacher in understanding the level of individual students in the class. These marks obtained by the students as internal marks can forecast their result in the final exam having the highest weightage of the subject. In this proposed work, authors are figuring out the student's probability of passing the exam using a logistic regression-based machine learning algorithm. This work may help recommend the formation of different clusters for slow, average, and high-level learners, so that teachers may plan their attention according to the exact caliber of their audience. The study can be implemented in any centralized examination system to predict the final results based on the internal classroom performance exams. This study is carried out by proposing a sigmoid function-based hypothesis solved with logistic regression with three performance exams. These performance exams imply the development of three input variables-based algorithms for the proposed study. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a robust state feedback controller is presented to track output voltage of boost converter. According to the applications of boost converter in modern industry such as electric cars, solar inverters and DC motor drives, the ability to control output voltage is an important parameter. As the model of boost converter is a nonlinear system, the linear classical controllers may not suffice. In this paper, the model of boost converter is extracted and a simplified state feedback controller is presented which uses Legendre polynomials in order to compensate the eliminated terms. For validation of proposed method, this controller is compared with classical proportional integral controller from the view point of speed and simplicity. The simulation results prove that this controller can not only maintain stability even in occurrence of error in current sensor, but also it can track the reference voltage very fast with no steady state error. © 2023 IEEE.

Facial expression recognition(FER)remains a hot research area among computer vision researchers and still becomes a challenge because of high intraclass *** techniques for this problem depend on hand-crafted features,namely,LBP,SIFT,and HOG,along with that a classifier trained on a database of videos or *** execute perform well on image datasets captured in a controlled condition;however not perform well in the more challenging dataset,which has partial faces and image ***,many studies presented an endwise structure for facial expression recognition by utilizing DL ***,this study develops an earthworm optimization with an improved SqueezeNet-based FER(EWOISN-FER)*** presented EWOISN-FER model primarily applies the contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization(CLAHE)technique as a pre-processing *** addition,the improved SqueezeNet model is exploited to derive an optimal set of feature vectors,and the hyperparameter tuning process is performed by the stochastic gradient boosting(SGB)***,EWO with sparse autoencoder(SAE)is employed for the FER process,and the EWO algorithm appropriately chooses the SAE ***-ranging experimental analysis is carried out to examine the performance of the proposed *** experimental outcomes indicate the supremacy of the presented EWOISN-FER technique.

In the current era of seamless integration across various contexts, the ability to track mobility both indoors and outdoors has become crucial for many individuals. Tracking the path of mobility from the initial point to the final destination is essential in numerous aspects of human life. This study presents a location-Aware computing application that facilitates the smooth integration of indoor and outdoor environments by combining both requirements within a smart device-based system, without any barriers. The proposed work utilizes the Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) to measure external conditions, while Wi-Fi Fingerprinting (Wi-Fi) is employed to accurately determine the user's indoor locations using received signal strength indicator. The integration of indoor and outdoor technologies ensures seamless user mobility. As users transition between different conditions, the system effectively addresses the complexities that arise between indoor and outdoor locations. The transition time between indoor and outdoor is less than 5 seconds, with seamless switching occurring in the overlapped areas. In our experiments conducted within a campus building, the system achieved a remarkable accuracy of 98.4% for outdoor-To-indoor movement and 97.7% for the reverse movement. Furthermore, the seamless location system offers significant benefits to users, including the discovery of new system features, access to directional maps, and guidance along pathways from their current locations. © 2023 IEEE.
