Fine-Tuning of large language models is often demanding in terms of computational resources and memory. Consequently, there is a need to explore new methods that can effectively fine-Tune these models without compromising performance. In this paper, we compared traditional and parameter-efficient fine-Tuning of large language model XLM-RoBERTa, across both high-resourced languages like English and low-resourced languages such as Serbian. The model is fine-Tuned for sentiment analysis when it is conducted using text classification. The experiments have shown that parameter-efficient fine-Tuning can produce results that are on par with traditional fine-Tuning, both for the English and the Serbian language. Furthermore, parameter efficient fine-Tuning approach significantly reduces the computational time and memory requirements associated with model training, thereby offering a promising avenue for resource-efficient large language models fine-Tuning. In experiments with the English language, we achieved accuracy using the PEFT approach that was only 3% lower than the accuracy obtained through the traditional approach, while reducing training time by 35% and memory requirements by 42%. In experiments involving the Serbian language, we achieved accuracy using the PEFT approach that was only 1% lower than the accuracy obtained through the traditional approach, while reducing training time by 42% and memory requirements by 69%. © 2024 IEEE.

Decentralized Anonymous Payment Systems (DAP), often known as cryptocurrencies, stand out as some of the most innovative and successful applications on the blockchain. These systems have garnered significant attention in the financial industry due to their highly secure and reliable features. Regrettably, the DAP system can be exploited to fund illegal activities such as drug dealing and terrorism. Therefore, governments are increasingly worried about the illicit use of DAP systems, which poses a critical threat to their security. This paper proposes Privacy and Compliance in Regulated Anonymous Payment System Based on Blockchain (PCRAP), which provides government supervision and enforces regulations over transactions without sacrificing the essential idea of the blockchain, that is, without surrendering transaction privacy or anonymity of the participants. The key characteristic of the proposed scheme is using a ring signature and stealth address to ensure the anonymity of both the sender and receiver of the transaction. Moreover, a Merkle Tree is used to guarantee government supervision and enforce regulations. Our proposed scheme satisfies most of the stringent security requirements and complies with the standards of secure payment systems. Additionally, while our work supports government regulations and supervision, it guarantees unconditional anonymity for users. Furthermore, the performance analysis demonstrates that our suggested scheme still remains applicable and effective even when achieving complete anonymity. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Earth observation (EO) data have seen a constant surge in volume, necessitating efficient storage, retrieval, and sharing mechanisms. Cartographic projections play a vital role in transforming spheroidal surface data into two-dimensional representations, albeit with distortions. The Dual Orthogonal Equidistant Cylindrical (DOEC) projection offers a balance between simplicity and distortion, making it a promising choice for EO data storage and visualization. This paper explores various methods for raster geodata visualization in DOEC projection, addressing challenges of partitioning, distortion, and visualization techniques. Through experimental comparisons, the paper demonstrates the efficiency of these methods, highlighting their applicability in EO data processing and visualization systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Open data initiatives have resulted in a large amount of data being published on open data portals. In order to make published data more accessible these portals provide search mechanisms based on metadata like category, tags, format, and publisher. However, due to the lack of metadata information, like category values, search results are incomplete, and data is harder to be found. Therefore, this paper presents an approach for metadata enrichment on open data portals. In particular, the presented approach is focused on suggesting categories one dataset should belong to, based on the combination of tags that is used for its description. This approach relies on the tags usage for describing datasets within categories and the Formal Concept Analysis method for creating a hierarchical order of tags within categories. The presented proposal has been evaluated using data from Ireland's open data portal. © 2024 IEEE.

— WSD means the task of word sense disambiguation, which is a very important task in NLP. It assigns not only the meaningful word to the source text but also the proper meaning of the word according to the context. Hence, it is key to the proper accomplishment of NLP in Persian—a language rich in morphology and great polysemy. The recent improvements in LMs have greatly advanced the capabilities of NLP, opening further improvement avenues in WSD performance. This paper presents the integration of LLMs for improving WSD in Persian, considering the linguistic challenges related to this language. In this study, we consider four models of the Persian language: FaBERT, AriaBERT, GPT-2 Persian, and PersianMind-v1.0. We use the supervised fine-tuning method on the SBU-WSD-Corpus. Our methodology will consist of preprocessing the Persian WSD corpus, then fine-tuning the models with the mentioned corpus, and measuring their performance. Results indicate that methods using LLMs significantly improve WSD accuracy against traditional methods, with FaBERT achieving the best accuracy. We have further expounded on their real-life applications, such as sentiment analysis, to show the consequential effect of this advancement on general NLP tasks. The study is concluded with some insights into future research directions, underlining the potential role that LLMs can play in further transforming WSD and related fields. ©2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a hybrid search based retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system in the domain of history, in Serbian language. The system was implemented in Python programming language, and is based on Google BERT embedding model, OpenSearch hybrid search, OpenAI GPT 3.5 large language model, and two original Serbian datasets for augmentation and system evaluation. The system performance was evaluated using ROGUE-1, cosine similarity and human evaluation, and its performance was compared to the purely semantic search based version. The system performance was satisfactory in human measurement, but estimated as low in automated metrics. In both metrics the hybrid search showed significantly better performance. © 2024 IEEE.

This research proposes a tagging antenna sensor for permittivity detection of solid materials based on a close quarter approach. The sensor is proposed to operate at a frequency of 2.53 GHz using a single port resonator with a reflection coefficient (S11) ≤ −10 dB. The sample is placed directly in the sensing area of the antenna sensor based on the concentration of the electric field. Permittivity detection is proposed based on the resonant frequency shift of the transmission coefficient (S21) using interrogator antennas separated by a distance of (d) = 100 mm determined using the Fresnel region. Based on the measurement results, the antenna sensor has a high accuracy of 96% while the sensitivity and ∆F are 0.39% and 0.012 GHz, respectively. Moreover, the sensitivity ofthe proposed sensor is still low due the low concentration of the electric field. Therefore, increasing the sensitivity of the antenna sensor can be recommended as further work such as combining the structure of single port resonator with another structure such as interdigital capacitor and artificial magnetic conductor (AMC). Finally, this research makes a significant contribution to the permittivity detection of solid materials with a close quarter approach to support real time and flexible measurements and can be recommended for several applications for the biomedical, pharmaceutical, and material quality control industries. © 2025, Electromagnetics Academy. The Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) system merged with Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) has recently received much attention. This paper proposes an intelligent metaheuristic version of Enhanced Artificial Ecosystem Optimizer (EAEO) for a suggested beamforming optimization framework in ISAC systems with RIS. Two RIS are utilized in the presented model to enhance the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems. Also, each element of each RIS scatters the incoming signal with a controllable phase-shift, without increasing its power. The signal is transmitted by a Dual-Function Base Station (DFBS) that is integrated with the RIS, which performs both communication and sensing functions simultaneously. The ISAC system is designed to optimize the signal transmission through the RIS by maximizing the SNR to increase the overall performance. In the proposed EAEO version, a Fitness-Distance-Balance Model (FDBM) is combined with the standard Artificial Ecosystem Optimizer (AEO) to improve the quality of the solutions in multidimensional and nonlinear optimization scenarios. The simulation results show that the proposed EAEO algorithm improves the SNR of different users for different numbers of RIS elements. The SNR reaches 25 dB when using 200 RIS elements. Moreover, the proposed EAEO is tested on the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation 2017 (IEEE CEC'17) test suite. A comparative analysis is conducted compared to the standard AEO and several recent algorithms. The proposed EAEO derives great effectiveness and robustness over the others as it provides a higher rate of success in achieving the global optimum point. © 2020 IEEE.

Background: Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) requires precise and efficient diagnostic tools. The manual analysis of Electrocardiograms (ECGs) is labor-intensive, necessitating the development of automated methods to enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. Objective: This research aimed to develop an automated ECG classification using Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN), and transform 1D ECG signals into 2D spectrograms using CWT and train a DCNN to accurately detect abnormalities associated with CVD. The DCNN is trained on datasets from PhysioNet and the MIT-BIH arrhythmia dataset. The integrated CWT and DCNN enable simultaneous classification of multiple ECG abnormalities along-side normal signals. Material and Methods: This analytical observational research employed CWT to generate spectrograms from 1D ECG signals, as input to a DCNN trained on di-verse datasets. The model is evaluated using performance metrics, such as precision, specificity, recall, overall accuracy, and F1-score. Results: The proposed algorithm demonstrates remarkable performance metrics with a precision of 100% for normal signals, an average specificity of 100%, an average recall of 97.65%, an average overall accuracy of 98.67%, and an average F1-score of 98.81%. This model achieves an approximate average overall accuracy of 98.67%, highlighting its effectiveness in detecting ***: The integration of CWT and DCNN in ECG classification improves accuracy and classification capabilities, addressing the challenges with manual analy-sis. This algorithm can reduce misdiagnoses in primary care and enhance efficiency in larger medical institutions. By contributing to automated diagnostic tools for cardiovascular disorders, it can significantly improve healthcare practices in the field of CVD detection. © Journal of Biomedical Physics and engineering.

The THz spectrum (0.1–10 THz) is a region between optics and electronics, and it is still not fully explored and is unlicensed. Recent studies show that it will bring a revolution in technology, especially in the field of communication. Future communication technologies such as 6G and Terabit DSL will utilize this THz band as it has the capability to support high data rates in Tbps. For designing an efficient system that propagates these THz waves with low loss, it is required to understand the propagation channel properly. THz channel modeling is at its infancy stage, and a detailed investigation of channel behavior is required to study the efficient propagation of THz waves. In this study, the methods applied to the modeling of the THz channel are discussed in detail. Although channel modeling is a broad topic here only the methods and techniques are discussed along with their advantages and limitations.
