Because of its modest properties, the slot antenna has become an unsuitable contender in many applications. To achieve high gain, small size, and a wide frequency range in the proposed antenna, two layers of flower-shaped cells are positioned at various heights according to Al-Fabry–Perot theory. The improvements in antenna performance extended to the feed line and the slot drilled by the ground plate, allowing the amount of current flowing to be controlled. The number of cells in each of the metasurface layers above the typical antenna is 4 × 4. The antenna has a peak gain of 9.8 dB and a bandwidth of 2.6 GHz between 4.33 and 6.93 GHz. The CST software was used to carry out the simulation procedure. The antenna’s characteristics have made it an excellent contender for wireless applications. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Small size, hardware-only, custom data processing cores connected to a host processor are increasingly considered in digital systems design to provide the ability for accelerating data processing operations through hardware acceleration and parallel processing. These can be realized in different forms such as a custom core connected to a host processor on the same die as the processor, as a separate die (e.g., a chiplet) within the same package as the processor or as a separate Integrated Circuit. These require advanced design flows, low-geometry fabrication processes, and suitable test circuit insertion to implement a suitable test strategy. In this paper, the testability of custom hardware cores is considered through test circuit insertion based on the IJTAG standard. The core is to perform data processing operations based on the Mathematics of Arrays and serial communications is based on the Serial Peripheral Interface. This interface is used for both normal operating mode and the IJTAG based test mode. The system design is considered at the pre-synthesis design development stage and identifies architectural considerations for such system designs.

With the increased demand for additional bandwidth, when it comes to the Metropolitan Area Networks, there is also a growing need to keep the local traffic local. Preventing the traffic of local origin from "spilling" over the MAN borders, or maybe even country borders become one of the very important tasks. This is where local Internet Exchange Points can help. This paper illustrates possibilities local IXP implementation has to offer (city of Nis, Serbia in this case) and improvements that can come out of it.

This paper presents a ventilator that is characterized by simple construction and operation, as well as accurate execution of tasks due to the control system based on the Arduino board and servo motor. The device presented in this research is composed of two main parts: the mechanical part, represented by pliers, which are two opposite plates that can be moved at a specific angle and speed with the assistance of a servo motor connected to these two pliers by two iron rods, and the electronic part, which serves as the base for the ventilator described in this paper. The electronic component consists of a keypad, an Arduino board, and a servo motor. a display screen that shows the user-entered settings is also included. The main goal of this paper is to accurately adjust the amount of oxygen flowing to the patient through the ability of this device to determine the angle of the motor, and the number of breathing times that can be adjusted by adjusting the speed of the engine. A model of the proposed ventilator has been implemented and successfully tested in terms of modifying the motor angle and how rapidly the bag is pressed (motor speed). wherever the control system's settings have all been accurately and completely applied. In comparison to other devices proposed in numerous studies, this device is characterized by the simplicity of its design, the affordability of its parts, as well as its light weight, which makes it easier to carry and move from one place to another. It is also distinguished by its accuracy in controlling the amount of oxygen required as well as the number of breathing cycles per minute. © 2023 IEEE.

Traditional methods for controlling wind turbines often rely on accurate modelling techniques to ensure reliable and productive interaction between the wind farms and the primary electricity grids in both grid-connected and autonomous modes. Additionally, because of the unpredictable and irregular wind speed, its natural output power behaves significantly erratically. Furthermore, to avoid the negative effects of excessive fluctuation in wind turbine output power in the wind farm besides the power grid, it is essential to properly estimate, plan, and manage the wind farm output power. In addition, the transmission of the control signal can leave a gap between itself and the wind energy conversion systems (WECS) due to the communication channels' time delay, which makes the WECS operation unstable. Specifically, when running over the permitted wind speed, wind energy conversion devices frequently pitch, which reduces the mechanical power to the rated level at the price of the blade, and drives shaft loads. In this regard, this paper suggests an intelligent control system for the synchronous generator wind turbines using the model predictive controller (MPC). The results highlighted the suggested controller's greater performance against changes in wind speed rather than PI controller. Further, the coordination of pitch/torque sharing depend on the analysis performed, both generator power output quality, in addition load circumstances are maximized in a variable-weight MPC technique. © 2022 IEEE.

During the last two decades, interest in grid integrated renewable energy sources (RERs) into the electrical power grids has significantly grown. The motive being a promising strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated by conventional power plants (CPPs) and hence environmental consequences, decrease losses in distribution lines to improve power system supply efficiency and reliability to consumers. As a result, several CPPs are being replaced by RERs such as solar PV system, wind energy, micro hydro-turbine, fuel cell, and small gas power plants. These are installed close to customers on low-voltage and medium-voltage sites to reduce losses in the network and improve power quality, overall efficiency and reliability. However, grid-connected RERs via inverter decreases system inertia due to decrease in CPPs with rotating mass serving as an immediate natural response to frequency deviations following network disturbances. Therefore, this paper presents the design of dynamic virtual-inertia control (DVIC) scheme. The developed DVIC incorporates the mechanism to adjust active and reactive demand in response to any frequency and voltage variations to ensure system stability. To validate the suitability of the presented technique, MATLAB/Simulink model is developed and simulated under various operating scenarios. Using the results obtained simulation study, it is evidently the proposed DVIC shows improved performance is achieved than when no inertia control system applied. © 2025 IEEE.

In an era marked by escalating cybersecurity threats,our study addresses the challenge of malware variant detection,a significant concern for amultitude of sectors including petroleum and mining *** paper presents an innovative Application Programmable Interface(API)-based hybrid model designed to enhance the detection performance of malware *** model integrates eXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost)and an Artificial Neural Network(ANN)classifier,offering a potent response to the sophisticated evasion and obfuscation techniques frequently deployed by malware *** model’s design capitalizes on the benefits of both static and dynamic analysis to extract API-based features,providing a holistic and comprehensive view of malware *** these features,we construct two XGBoost predictors,each of which contributes a valuable perspective on the malicious activities under *** outputs of these predictors,interpreted as malicious scores,are then fed into an ANN-based classifier,which processes this data to derive a final *** strength of the proposed model lies in its capacity to leverage behavioral and signature-based features,and most importantly,in its ability to extract and analyze the hidden relations between these two types of *** efficacy of our proposed APIbased hybrid model is evident in its performance *** outperformed other models in our tests,achieving an impressive accuracy of 95%and an F-measure of 93%.This significantly improved the detection performance of malware variants,underscoring the value and potential of our approach in the challenging field of cybersecurity.

The increasing development of distributed generation sources and the advancement of various technologies have led to great attention being paid to utilizing these sources with different capacities and voltage levels. Therefore, in recent years, the development of standards and requirements such as the Grid Code has received more attention in various countries. In addition to using the generations of these resources to provide the required activities, the ability of these resources to improve grid stability and reliability, especially the fault ride-through capabilities, should also be used. Engineers, legislators, and academics' primary focus has been developing grid codes with an emphasis on balanced conditions. However, more than 98% of the faults in the grid are unbalanced, especially single-phase faults. Therefore, in addition to a detailed study of the gaps in the grid codes of different countries covering unbalanced conditions, this study proposes an approach to develop grid codes under unbalanced conditions and, in particular single-phase faults in the IEEE sample system. Simulation results are evaluated under both balanced and unbalanced conditions for better validation. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Low carbon deposition on LaCrO3-based high-temperature CO2 sensors

Platinum (Pt)-based amperometric sensors are promising for carbon dioxide (CO2) monitoring in high-temperature industrial flue gases. However, the traditional Pt electrode is limited due to the carbon deposits in CO2-rich environments. In this work, perovskite oxide LaCrO3 is proposed as sensing electrode (SE) to mitigate carbon deposition due to the low catalytic ability of CO2. The carbon deposition tests were conducted at 750 °C for 100 h in a 13 % CO2 environment. The results indicate that the signal attenuation rate of the LaCrO3-based sensor is 8 % lower than that of the Pt-based sensor. The scanning electron microscope reveals that carbon particles on the Pt SE surface are more and larger than those on the LaCrO3 SE surface. These findings suggest that the LaCrO3-based CO2 sensor effectively mitigates carbon deposition and enhances the long-term stability. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder that affects motor function and impacts millions worldwide. Early diagnosis and precise staging of PD are critical for effective management and timely intervention. Traditional gait analysis focuses on lower limb movement to differentiate between moderate and advanced PD stages;however, integrating upper and lower limb dynamics offers a more comprehensive approach to distinguishing early-stage PD from *** study introduces a novel spatio-temporal model that integrates CNN, Transformer, and BiLSTM layers to classify PD based on the Hoehn and Yahr (H&Y) score. The architecture captures both spatial and temporal dependencies in gait patterns, with a CNN serving as the primary spatial feature extractor, utilizing a temporal-focused kernel, and augmented by a Transformer to enhance temporal feature learning. Additionally, a BiLSTM module is incorporated to effectively capture complex spatio-temporal gait dynamics across all modules. For data augmentation, sliding windows of 500, 800, and 1200 samples were employed, and the model's performance was rigorously assessed through 3-fold and 5-fold cross-subject *** included accuracy, F1-score, recall, precision, and a voting-based confidence score, while t-SNE visualization provided insights into spatio-temporal feature differentiation. The model demonstrated high performance, achieving optimal accuracy of 0.90 and an average confidence score of 0.97 with a 1200-sample window in 5-fold validation. These findings highlight the potential of a spatio-temporal approach incorporating upper and lower limb characteristics in gait analysis as a robust method for PD multi-class classification, supporting early and effective PD diagnosis from raw IMU signals. © 2025, The Authors.
