This paper presents research on the effects caused with consecutive irradiation and thermal annealing of two commercial models of p-channel power VDMOSFETs IRF9520 and IRF9530. Threshold voltage shift, which is marked as the most important parameter for both dosimetry application, as well as reliability assesment is obtained and discussed. Experiment setup, as well as the measuring procedures are explained in more detail. Irradiation degradation causes threshold voltage shift, while the thermal annealing causes recovery. The average sensitivity of models for consecutive irradiation sessions is 9.54 ± 0.04 mV Gy −1 , where averagely 91.88 % is recovered through thermal annealing. Results point out that p-channel power VDMOSFET devices could be used in some dosimetry applications.

Electrical power generation from the oceanic wave is one of the noteworthy footsteps in the field of renewable energy resource based energy conversion system. There are different technologies regarding electricity generation by using linear electrical generators along with the wave energy devices. This paper presents various control technologies of the linear generator that are widely been used for harvesting oceanic wave energy. Several controllers are discussed that are used to control the voltage, current, and power flow of the linear generator. Mathematical models of different controllers are discussed. Connection of the controller with the linear generator, input, output, outcome, and method of the controller with their pros and cons are presented as well. In addition, testing devices and their controls for the linear generator are presented with their schematic diagram. This paper would play vital role to the researcher for the future development of the linear generator for oceanic wave energy conversion. © 2021 IEEE

A novel cancellable biometric recognition system based on Rubik's cube technique for cyber-security applications

Objective: Ten years ago, biometrics became an efficient tool of security and authentication enforcement. In a classical access system, a user can easily change password if it is compromised. However, user's biometrics are limited and unique, and if a user biometric trait is compromised, it will be impossible to change it. Hence, cancellable biometric systems depend on the transformation of data or a biometric feature into a new format, so that users can replace their biometric templates in the same or a different system. In this paper, an efficient cancellable biometric recognition system is presented. In this system, both signal-and feature-level transformations are used to generate the cancellable templates Methods: A novel hybrid encryption framework based on the Rubik's cube technique is presented to allow efficient encryption of face, iris, and fingerprint biometric templates. This framework begins with extraction of biometric features using the Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT). After that, the resulting biometric features are encrypted with the optical Double Random Phase Encoding (DRPE) algorithm. Then, the resulting encrypted biometric features are further encrypted with the chaotic Baker map permutation, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), or Ron's Code (RC6) algorithm in the Cipher Feed Back (CFB) mode of operation. Finally, the resulting encrypted biometrics are additionally encrypted with the Rubik's cube technique. The chaotic, RC6, or AES encrypted biometrics are utilized on the faces of the Rubik's cube. From the concepts of image encryption, the DRPE, RC6, and the AES algorithms introduce a degree of diffusion, whilst the chaotic Baker map adds a degree of permutation. Moreover, the Rubik's cube technique adds more permutation to the encrypted biometrics, simultaneously. The quality evaluation of the proposed cancellable biometric system reveals good performance. In this correspondence, we propose a movable antenna (MA)-aided multi-user hybrid beamforming scheme with a sub-connected structure, where multiple movable sub-arrays can independently change their positions within different local regions. To maximize the system sum rate, we jointly optimize the digital beamformer, analog beamformer, and positions of sub-arrays, under the constraints of unit modulus, finite movable regions, and power budget. Due to the non-concave/non-convex objective function/constraints, as well as the highly coupled variables, the formulated problem is challenging to solve. By employing fractional programming, we develop an alternating optimization framework to solve the problem via a combination of Lagrange multipliers, penalty method, and gradient descent. Numerical results reveal that the proposed MA-aided hybrid beamforming scheme significantly improves the sum rate compared to its fixed-position antenna (FPA) counterpart. Moreover, with sufficiently large movable regions, the proposed scheme with sub-connected MA arrays even outperforms the fully-connected FPA array. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Different types of laser source modulation techniques have been used in various applications depending on the objective. As optical systems extract the laws and the best solutions from experiments and simulations, the present study uses simulation software with different modulation types so the output signals can be compared. The modulators used are Mach-Zehnder, which is an external modulator, and electro-absorption modulator and laser rate equation modulator, which are direct modulators. All these types have an optical link multimode (MM) fiber with a photodiode in the receiver end that can be modeled. Gait trajectory prediction is a crucial component in compensating control system delays, reducing interactive resistance, and achieving real-time assistance in exoskeleton robotics. In this paper, an adaptive gait prediction model based on the autoencoder deep Gaussian process (AE-DGP) is proposed for joint angle estimation using measurement data from inertial measurement units (IMUs). The DGP process involves stochastic gradient Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (SGHMC) calculations and Monte Carlo Expectation-maximization (MCEM) optimization at a lower computational cost. The kernel of the model is the multi-feature fusion input based on autoencoder and the construction of the DGP model with an adaptive sliding window. To suppress spikes in predicted deviations, a weighted averaging strategy is employed to estimate future stable gait trajectories. Benefiting from the design, the proposed model can enhance the accuracy and adaptability of gait prediction at different speeds. Experiments involving four participants at four speeds indicate that the proposed method achieves hip and knee joint prediction with less than 0.16° and 0.35° root mean squared errors respectively. Compared to the Gaussian process (GP) and long short-term memory (LSTM) models, the proposed method exhibits superior performance in adaptive gait trajectory prediction at different speeds.

The battery energy storage system (BESS) has immense potential for enhancing grid reliability and security through its participation in the electricity market. BESS often seeks various revenue streams by taking part in multiple markets to unlock its full potential, but effective algorithms for joint-market participation under price uncertainties are insufficiently explored in the existing research. To bridge this gap, we develop a novel BESS joint bidding strategy that utilizes deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to bid in the spot and contingency frequency control ancillary services (FCAS) markets. Our approach leverages a transformer-based temporal feature extractor to effectively respond to price fluctuations in seven markets simultaneously and helps DRL learn the best BESS bidding strategy in joint-market participation. Additionally, unlike conventional "black-box" DRL model, our approach is more interpretable and provides valuable insights into the temporal bidding behavior of BESS in the dynamic electricity market. We validate our method using realistic market prices from the Australian National Electricity Market. The results show that our strategy outperforms benchmarks, including both optimization-based and other DRL-based strategies, by substantial margins. Our findings further suggest that effective temporal-aware bidding can significantly increase profits in the spot and contingency FCAS markets compared to individual market participation. © 2024, CC BY.

National Instruments collaborated on virtual instruments. The programme for instruments, "LabVIEW,"allows users to have sophisticated equipment within the software while performing measurements in a laboratory or in the field. Engineers and researchers can even create their own instruments utilising software-simulated signals using virtual instruments. The development and application of programmable measuring systems has received a lot of attention. The ability to change the measurement technique simply by altering the algorithm implemented by the computer-based architecture without having to replace the hardware components simplifies the experiment. The detection of changes in land cover and land use (LCLU) is crucial for various geospatial applications, including urban development and environmental management. One vital aspect of LCLU research involves identifying modifications in impervious surface cover, which has significantly increased due to global economic growth and the rising urban population in many parts of the world. This investigation employs Landsat 9 OLI- 2/TIRS-2 imagery with a 30m spatial resolution to map structures in the Ziarat District of Pakistan, encompassing forests, water bodies, and barren land. It aims to detect changes in tree cover and canopy height. A time series of Landsat 9 OLI-2/TIRS-2 images were utilized to create change detection and land cover maps. The Analysis of Land Cover and Land Use (LCLU) for the Ziarat District was conducted using the GEE platform. The satellite images were classified into broad land cover classes, which include impervious surfaces, forest/tree cover, grassland/cropland, and water. The generated change detection map facilitates the identification of locations that have undergone modifications due to new constructions, offering valuable insights for the implementation of urban development policies and disaster management on a global scale.
