Data warehouse (DW) and Business Intelligence (BI) provide mechanisms for companies to exploit their data reaching the goal of making better, more efficient decisions. However, from the perspective of business users, they may have difficulties and confusions in the first approach to the analytic technology. This paper presents the design and implementation of a platform for constructing Data Warehouse frameworks including Business Intelligence tools for data analytics, and designing an ETL process for populating the DW from data sources. The Fact models provided in the proposed framework include Sales, Procurement, Product Inventory, and Customer Relationship Management processes. By applying Dimensional modeling approach, the goal is to provide a platform for new business users to get use of data exploitation by helping them building fast and customizable DW. In addition, we evaluate that using a cloud-based solution would bring back more values rather than investing initial infrastructures. © 2022 IEEE.

Maximum Power Point Tracking Using Cross-Correlation Algorithm for Pv System

This paper suggests an online, rapid, dynamic, and pragmatic cross-correlation (CC) technique to eﬀectively realize maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of the photovoltaic (PV) array. The PV voltage and current are extracted, averaged, and rate of change of the power and terminal voltage dynamics are integrally cross-correlated to regulate the duty ratio of the converter. According to this approach, the maximum power point (MPP) is defned in terms of the polarity of the CC coefcient (rcc). If the CC coefcient is positive, the operating point is at left of the MPP, while a negative CC coefcient indicates that the operating point is located at right of the MPP, otherwise the MPP is attained zero CC coefcient with lower steady-state ﬂuctuations. In this regard, a tracking optimization can be realized with confned drift either under gradual or step solar irradiance changes. The proposed CC technique quickly converges to the MPP without identifcation of PV array parameters. Besides, the proposed CC tracking algorithm tracks MPP with wide-range small step-size iterations since the search area is restricted to the vicinity of the MPP rather than the entire PV curve. Moreover, the proposed technique is featured by robustness against system parameters and load variations with simple hardware implementation as compared to several existing techniques. The eﬀectiveness of the proposed technique is thoroughly explored via time-domain, experimental, and hardware-in-loop investigations and meanwhile compared to the two most popular techniques: P&O INC methods, for both gradual and step irradiance changes and also shadow eﬀects. © 2022, The Authors. Non-contact vital sign monitoring with mmWave radar has been regarded as an effective method for identifying lung and heart diseases due to its strong penetration and non-invasive capabilities. Nevertheless, relying solely on millimeter-wave radar for vital sign monitoring is susceptible to interference from multipath reflections, which degrades the measurement accuracy. To address this issue and enhance measurement accuracy, we propose a system design that leverages the depth camera for precise target location and subsequently employs dynamic beamforming techniques to effectively monitor the specified region. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed system achieves an average error of 2.44 beats per minute (BPM) for heart rate monitoring and 0.22 breaths per minute (BPM) for respiratory rate monitoring. Compared to systems without beamforming, our system reduces the mean error for heart rate monitoring by 4.21 BPM and for respiratory rate monitoring by 0.51 BPM.

With the rapid development of the mobile internet and the internet of things(IoT),the fifth generation(5G)mobile communication system is seeing explosive growth in data *** addition,low-frequency spectrum resources are becoming increasingly scarce and there is now an urgent need to switch to higher frequency *** wave(mmWave)technology has several outstanding features—it is one of the most well-known 5G technologies and has the capacity to fulfil many of the requirements of future wireless ***,it has an abundant resource spectrum,which can significantly increase the communication rate of a mobile communication *** such,it is now considered a key technology for future mobile *** communication technology also has a more open network architecture;it can deliver varied services and be applied in many *** contrast,traditional,all-digital precoding systems have the drawbacks of high computational complexity and higher power *** paper examines the implementation of a new hybrid precoding system that significantly reduces both calculational complexity and energy *** primary idea is to generate several sub-channels with equal gain by dividing the channel by the geometric mean decomposition(GMD).In this process,the objective function of the spectral efficiency is derived,then the basic tracking principle and least square(LS)techniques are deployed to design the proposed hybrid *** results show that the proposed algorithm significantly improves system performance and reduces computational complexity by more than 45%compared to traditional algorithms.

Management of energy consumption in smart buildings is critically influenced by occupancy information. Traditional methods often operate on the premise of maximum occupancy leading to inefficient energy utilization. This study seeks to address this inefficiency by employing machine learning techniques for occupancy level classification, focusing on K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) and its variants, Weighted KNN (W-KNN), Random Subspace Method KNN (RSM-KNN), and Feature Bagging KNN (FB-KNN). The methodology comprises a detailed exploratory data analysis, data transformation and hyperparameter optimization. The RSM-KNN model demonstrated a f1 score of 99.42% for empty and 92.65% for low occupancy level. Additionally, the W-KNN model achieved a peak accuracy of 98.13% when using normalized data. These results underscore the potential of employing KNN variants for occupancy level classification, thereby contributing to the efficient management of energy, occupancy detection and comfort in smart buildings.

Caching-at-STARS: the Next Generation Edge Caching

A simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (STARS) enabled edge caching system is proposed for reducing backhaul traffic and ensuring the quality of service. A novel Caching-at-STARS structure, where a dedicated smart controller and cache memory are installed at the STARS, is proposed to satisfy user demands with fewer hops and desired channel conditions. Then, a joint caching replacement and information-centric hybrid beamforming optimization problem is formulated for minimizing the network power consumption. As long-term decision processes, the optimization problems based on independent and coupled phase-shift models of Caching-at-STARS contain both continuous and discrete decision variables, and are suitable for solving with deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm. For the independent phase-shift Caching-at-STARS model, we develop a frequency-aware based twin delayed deep deterministic policy gradient (FA-TD3) algorithm that leverages user historical request information to serialize high-dimensional caching replacement decision variables. For the coupled phase-shift Caching-at-STARS model, we conceive a cooperative TD3 & deep-Q network (TD3-DQN) algorithm comprised of FA-TD3 and DQN agents to decide on continuous and discrete variables respectively by observing the network external and internal environment. The numerical results demonstrate that: 1) The Caching-at-STARS-enabled edge caching system has advantages over traditional edge caching, especially in scenarios where Zipf skewness factors or cache capacity is large;2) Caching-at-STARS outperforms the RIS-assisted edge caching systems;3) The proposed FA-TD3 and cooperative TD3-DQN algorithms are superior in reducing network power consumption than conventional TD3. Safety is of paramount importance in control systems to avoid costly risks and catastrophic damages. The control barrier function (CBF) method, a promising solution for safety-critical control, poses a new challenge of enhancing control performance due to its direct modification of original control design and the introduction of uncalibrated parameters. In this work, we shed light on the crucial role of configurable parameters in the CBF method for performance enhancement with a systematical categorization. Based on that, we propose a novel framework combining the CBF method with Bayesian optimization (BO) to optimize the safe control performance. Considering feasibility/safety-critical constraints, we develop a safe version of BO using the barrier-based interior method to efficiently search for promising feasible configurable parameters. Furthermore, we provide theoretical criteria of our framework regarding safety and optimality. An essential advantage of our framework lies in that it can work in model-agnostic environments, leaving sufficient flexibility in designing objective and constraint functions. Finally, simulation experiments on swing-up control and high-fidelity adaptive cruise control are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. We propose two balanced coding schemes based on the Lehmer code. The first one is very efficient because it is essentially an enumerative coding without any loss. However, it needs an arithmetic device with very long precision proportional to the output block length. The redundancy of the second coding scheme is almost log n, where n is the length of the output block. The scheme needs a list of numbers with length n and lists of numbers with length n/2 in encoding.
