This study outlines the distributed feedback laser for signal power amplitude level improvement in the long spectral band of 1550 nm wavelength within supporting pumped wavelength of 1480 nm. The bias and modulation peak currents based distributed feedback laser are varied in order to test the signal power level, peak signal amplitude variations after the fiber-optic channel and light detectors. The signal power level, peak signal amplitude is measured against spectral wavelength and time bit period variations. The study emphasis the signal power level, peak signal amplitude are enhanced for the best selection values of both a bias current at 45 mA and modulation peak current at 0.5 mA. © 2023 Walter de Gruyter GmbH. Aquaculture farming carries one of the most important roles in the Vietnam economy. This paper focuses on the implementation of wireless sensor network (WSN) in shrimp farms, including the automation, remote control, and monitoring of the pond parameters. Using embedded computer Raspberry Pi 3, wireless communication modules Xbee S2c, the system can help farmers control pumps, actuator, and light via their web browser. Besides, parameters of the pond such as temperature and illuminating power are updated on the Internet via cloud service. The implementation of this project is expected to reduce energy consumption, human resource, and fast reaction to the change of the production pond, especially for large farms with multiple ponds. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

The DNA toehold mediated strand displacement reaction is one of the semi-synthetic biology technologies for next-generation computers. In this article, we present a framework for a novel nonlinear neural network based on an engineered biochemical circuit, which is constructed by several reaction modules including catalysis, degradation and adjustment reaction modules. The proposed neural network possesses an architecture that is similar to that of an error back propagation neural network, and is built of an input layer, hidden layer and output layer. As a proof of concept, we utilize this nonlinear neural network based on an analog DNA toehold mediated strand displacement reaction circuit to learn the standard quadratic form function and analyze the robustness of the nonlinear neural network toward DNA strand concentration detection, DNA strand displacement reaction rate and noise. Unlike in error back propagation neural networks, the adaptive behavior of this DNA molecular neural network system endows it with supervised learning capability. This investigation will highlight the potential of analog DNA displacement reaction circuits for implementing artificial intelligence.

As physical layer security evolves to multi-user systems, multi-user interference (MUI) becomes an unavoidable issue. Recently, rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) emerges as a powerful non-orthogonal transmission framework and interference management strategy with high spectral efficiency. Unlike most works fully treating MUI as noise, we take all users’ secrecy rate requirements into consideration and propose an RSMA-based secure beamforming approach to maximize the weighted sum-rate (WSR), where MUI is partially decoded and partially treated as noise. User messages are split and encoded into common and private streams. Each user not only decodes the common stream and the intended private stream, but also tries to eavesdrop other users’ private streams. A successive convex approximation (SCA)-based approach is proposed to maximize the instantaneous WSR under perfect channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT). We then propose a joint weighted minimum mean square error and SCA-based alternating optimization algorithm to maximize the weighted ergodic sum-rate under imperfect CSIT. Numerical results demonstrate RSMA achieves better WSR and is more robust to channel errors than conventional multi-user linear precoding technique while ensuring all users’ security requirements. Besides, RSMA can satisfy all users’ secrecy rate requirements without introducing WSR loss thanks to its powerful interference management capability. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Nucleus segmentation is an important task in medical image analysis. However, machine learning models cannot perform well because there are large amount of clusters of crowded nuclei. To handle this problem, existing approaches typically resort to sophisticated hand-crafted post-processing strategies;therefore, they are vulnerable to the variation of post-processing hyper-parameters. Accordingly, in this paper, we devise a Boundary-assisted Region Proposal Network (BRP-Net) that achieves robust instance-level nucleus segmentation. First, we propose a novel Task-aware Feature Encoding (TAFE) network that efficiently extracts respective high-quality features for semantic segmentation and instance boundary detection tasks. This is achieved by carefully considering the correlation and differences between the two tasks. Second, coarse nucleus proposals are generated based on the predictions of the above two tasks. Third, these proposals are fed into instance segmentation networks for more accurate prediction. Experimental results demonstrate that the performance of BRP-Net is robust to the variation of post-processing hyper-parameters. Furthermore, BRP-Net achieves state-of-the-art performances on both the Kumar and CPM17 datasets. In this paper, we propose heterogeneous network (HetNet) with mmWave and hybrid non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and orthogonal multiple access (OMA) transmission, where uplink (UL) of macrocell users (MCUs) and downlink (DL) of small cell users (SCUs) share the same resource block (RB) to increase the network capacity. Also, an imperfect successive interference cancelation (I-SIC) decoding is considered due to hardware impairment of the real-world NOMA systems. We formulate the problem of joint power and resource block (RB) allocation to maximize rate-fairness and sum-rate by considering minimum quality of service (QoS) requirements. Reinforcement learning (RL) named Q-learning (QL) and deep Q-learning network (DQN) algorithms are employed to solve these problems. The results indicate that the proposed QL and DQN algorithms increase the fairness and sum-rate while low number of iterations is required.

As Internet of Things (IoT) devices are being involved in abundant applications, security, and privacy of the IoT users have been of more concern. The security threats are rapidly growing making the solutions of security and privacy not inadequate. Thereby, each thing on the internet can be a point of target for hackers. Accordingly, ML algorithms are utilized for producing accurate outputs by using large and complex databases in which the produced outputs could be used in the prediction and detection of weaknesses in IoT systems. Additionally, BC methods are also being used for providing security and privacy solutions in IoT networks. Many existing studies have been carried out on BC techniques or ML algorithms or both. Though, these existing studies focus on either providing privacy or security issues by using BC techniques or ML algorithms, therefore, give rise to need for aa combined survey on solutions made recently which address both privacy and security issues by using BC techniques and ML algorithms. In this paper, we give a summarized survey of research works that happened in the last four years by addressing privacy and security issues by using BC techniques and ML algorithms in IoT networks. Different literatures have been categorized on privacy and security of BC techniques and ML algorithms in IoT. Then at last, some research challenges and future works are highlighted by using BC techniques and ML algorithms for addressing security and privacy issues in IoT networks.

Memristor-based neuromorphic computing could overcome the limitations of traditional von Neumann computing architectures — in which data are shuffled between separate memory and processing units — and improve the performance of deep neural networks. However, this will require accurate synaptic-like device performance, and memristors typically suffer from poor yield and a limited number of reliable conductance states. Here we report floating gate memristive synaptic devices that are fabricated in a commercial complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) process. These silicon synapses offer analogue tunability, high endurance, long retention times, predictable cycling degradation, moderate device-to-device variations, and high yield. They also provide two orders of magnitude higher energy efficiency for multiply–accumulate operations than graphics processing units. We use two 12-by-8 arrays of the memristive devices for in-situ training of a 19-by-8 memristive restricted Boltzmann machine for pattern recognition via a gradient descent algorithm based on contrastive divergence. We then create a memristive deep belief neural network consisting of three memristive restricted Boltzmann machines. We test this on the modified National Institute of Standards and technology (MNIST) dataset, demonstrating recognition accuracy up to 97.05%. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

This study presents a voice-controlled movable electrical heating radiator. The functions are (1) button or voice controlled the radiator by smartphone APP; (2) heat radiation power control, moving control and timing control; and (3) feedback artificial synthesis voice for instruction, temperature feedback, and ultrasonic sensing for anti-collision. The results show the successful rates are over 90% for most of the cases. A better performance and lower cost voice-controlled movable electrical heating radiator has been implemented. The convenience of the radiator elevates the quality of human living life.

The advantages of graph neural networks (GNNs) in leveraging the graph topology of wireless networks have drawn increasing attentions. This paper studies the GNN-based learning approach for the sum-rate maximization in multiple-user multiple-input single-output (MU-MISO) networks subject to the users’ individual data rate requirements and the power budget of the base station. By modeling the MU-MISO network as a graph, a GNN-based architecture named CRGAT is proposed to directly map the channel state information to the beamforming vectors. The attention-enabled aggregation and the residual-assisted combination are adopted to enhance the learning capability and avoid the oversmoothing issue. Furthermore, a novel activation function is proposed for the constraint due to the limited power budget at the base station. The CRGAT is trained in an unsupervised learning manner with two proposed loss functions. An evaluation method is proposed for the learning-based approach, based on which the effectiveness of the proposed CRGAT is validated in comparison with several convex optimization and learning based approaches. Numerical results are provided to reveal the advantages of the CRGAT including the millisecond-level response with limited optimality performance loss, the scalability to different number of users and power budgets, and the adaptability to different system settings.
