Recently, Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) has demonstrated excellent capacity of modelling vector variable. A variant of RBM, Matrix-variate Restricted Boltzmann Machine (MVRBM), extends the ability of RBM and is able to model matrix-variate data directly without vectorized process. However, MVRBM is still an unsupervised generative model, and is usually used to feature extraction or initialization of deep neural network. When MVRBM is used to classify, additional classifiers are necessary. This paper proposes a Matrix-variate Restricted Boltzmann Machine Classification Model (ClassMVRBM) to classify 2D data directly. In the novel ClassMVRBM, classification constraint is introduced to MVRBM. On one hand, the features extracted by MVRBM are more discriminative, on the other hand, the proposed model can be directly used to classify. Experiments on some publicly available databases demonstrate that the classification performance of ClassMVRBM has been largely improved, resulting in higher image classification accuracy than conventional unsupervised RBM, its variants and Restricted Boltzmann Machine Classification Model (ClassRBM). © ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering 2019.

Resource management in computing is a very challenging problem that involves making sequential decisions. Resource limitations, resource heterogeneity, dynamic and diverse nature of workload, and the unpredictability of fog/edge computing environments have made resource management even more challenging to be considered in the fog landscape. Recently Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) based solutions are adopted to solve this problem. AI/ML methods with the capability to make sequential decisions like reinforcement learning seem most promising for these type of problems. But these algorithms come with their own challenges such as high variance, explainability, and online training. The continuously changing fog/edge environment dynamics require solutions that learn online, adopting changing computing environment. In this paper, we used standard review methodology to conduct this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to analyze the role of AI/ML algorithms and the challenges in the applicability of these algorithms for resource management in fog/edge computing environments. Further, various machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning techniques for edge AI management have been discussed. Furthermore, we have presented the background and current status of AI/ML-based Fog/Edge Computing. Moreover, a taxonomy of AI/ML-based resource management techniques for fog/edge computing has been proposed and compared the existing techniques based on the proposed taxonomy. Finally, open challenges and promising future research directions have been identified and discussed in the area of AI/ML-based fog/edge computing. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. To reduce power consumption while ensuring the spectral efficiency of millimeter wave (mmWave) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, we propose an energy-efficient hybrid precoding based on the improved population based incremental learning (PBIL) algorithm which introduced the random mutation (called as MPBIL hybrid precoding). Specifically, the MPBIL hybrid precoding using switches and inverters in analog part, which can greatly reduce energy consumption. Additionally, we utilize the proposed MPBIL algorithm to iteratively search for the best analog beamformer. The number of iterations is greatly reduced because that the search efficiency of the proposed MPBIL algorithm is significantly improved by introducing the random mutation which increase the diversity of the population. As a result, the proposed MPBIL-based hybrid precoding has lower complexity and higher energy efficiency than some other traditional algorithms.

The security of prepare-and-measure satellite-based quantum key distribution (QKD), under restricted eavesdropping scenarios, is addressed. We particularly consider cases where the eavesdropper, Eve, has limited access to the transmitted signal by Alice and/or Bob’s receiver station. This restriction is modeled by lossy channels between relevant parties, where the transmissivity of such channels can, in principle, be bounded by monitoring techniques. An artifact of such lossy channels is the possibility of having bypass channels, those that are not accessible to Eve but that may not necessarily be characterized by the users either. This creates interesting unexplored scenarios for analyzing QKD security. In this paper, we obtain generic bounds on the key rate in the presence of bypass channels and apply them to continuous-variable QKD protocols with Gaussian encoding with direct and reverse reconciliation. We find regimes of operation in which the above restrictions on Eve can considerably improve system performance. We also develop customized bounds for several protocols in the BB84 family and show that, in certain regimes, even the simple protocol of BB84 with weak coherent pulses is able to offer positive key rates at high channel losses, which would otherwise be impossible under an unrestricted Eve. In this case, the limitation on Eve would allow Alice to send signals with larger intensities than the optimal value under an ideal Eve, which effectively reduces the effective channel loss. In all these cases, the part of the transmitted signal that does not reach Eve can play a nontrivial role in specifying the achievable key rate. Our work opens up new security frameworks for spaceborne quantum communications systems.

We report an ultrawide color gamut LCD displays made of organic-inorganic perovskite polymer composite film. The color gamut of the display is 123% and 92% that of the NTSC 1953 and Rec. 2020, respectively. The combination of better stability and improved color purity of the perovskite material provides a viable approach for LCD backlights. © 2020 SID.

Ultrahigh sensitivity and wide detection range are critical for flexible pressure sensors in the further application of electronic skin and wearable electronics. Here, a flexible pressure sensor with rGO coated on a micro cone array was fabricated. By using the molecular dynamics simulation to investigating the formation mechanism of rGO, its optimized micro-morphology can be obtained and understood for improving the performances of sensors. Both an ultrahigh sensitivity (133.003 kPa-1, 10 kPa-1) were remarkably achieved due to the multiple sub-hierarchical morphological embossments within interfaces of rGO. Furthermore, the designed sensor using rGO with embossments enables several practical applications, showing a fast response time (27 ms) in child door lock monitoring and a distinct step-shape response in robotic arm load monitoring, respectively. And no frequency dependence under loading is also observed obviously. In addition, micro-pressure monitoring, including heart beat (excellent robustness over 10000 cycles) and vocal cord vibration (sound track), can be monitored clearly owing to embossments morphology of rGO as well. The simulation model of sub-microstructures on rGO shows that the embossments can build the multiple contacts within the interfaces for higher signals output. The designed sub-microstructures of rGO can be an effective strategy to afford superior performances of pressure sensors for universal applications in physiological signal monitoring and physical motion analysis. © 2022, The Authors. Human life in the modern scenario has become quite taxing; mental health issues are on the rise. Our medical science may have progressed well enough to furnish physical health excellency in the general populace (of course, in relative terms), but mental health is still taboo. This is especially so in many of the non-first-world countries, where forthcoming mental health issues and asking for help can lead to anything from public ridicule to social ostracism. In such a scenario, it is of paramount importance that someone comes up with a more private approach to mental health care and well-being. In this paper, the authors discuss how the effects of stress can be monitored using a different implementation of k-NN (k-Nearest Neighbors). With this, using the Manhattan distance metric we were able to achieve 99.84% accuracy, and even after the application of PCA, we achieved 93.97% accuracy.

Scene graph generation (SGG) aims to detect objects in an image along with their pairwise relationships. There are three key properties of scene graph that have been underexplored in recent works: namely, the edge direction information, the difference in priority between nodes, and the long-tailed distribution of relationships. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a Graph Property Sensing Network (GPS-Net) that fully explores these three properties for SGG. First, we propose a novel message passing module that augments the node feature with node-specific contextual information and encodes the edge direction information via a tri-linear model. Second, we introduce a node priority sensitive loss to reflect the difference in priority between nodes during training. This is achieved by designing a mapping function that adjusts the focusing parameter in the focal loss. Third, since the frequency of relationships is affected by the long-tailed distribution problem, we mitigate this issue by first softening the distribution and then enabling it to be adjusted for each subject-object pair according to their visual appearance. Systematic experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques. Moreover, GPS-Net achieves state-of-the-art performance on three popular databases: VG, OI, and VRD by significant gains under various settings and metrics. Nowadays, when talking about cybersecurity, the talk is associated with the most important event in the world during the year 2020, which is COVID-19. Although the digital world exists parallel to the real world, humanity did not have to rely on the Internet to accomplish its tasks. However, the situation changed after the Corona pandemic, as the world found itself in front of one option, which is to work remotely to overcome the impact of the pandemic. Therefore, with this massive and sudden digital transformation on the global level, cyber criminals have many opportunities through cyber vulnerabilities that appear due to the rapid shift to remote work. In this study, we presented an accurate review of the effects that accompanied the occurrence of the Coronavirus pandemic on cybersecurity. Moreover, the world has seen a growing number of cyber-attacks due to these effects, which led to attract the attention to the importance of cyber security to ensure full benefit from digital services without exposure to damage. Also, we indicated in this paper a number of recommendations that contribute to mitigating the damages of cyber-attacks or preventing their occurrence. Furthermore, Cyber security should be a complete approach and not limited to the technical side, where the awareness of the community about cyber risks should contribute to preventing cyber criminals from achieving their goals.
