Artificial intelligence (AI) has expanded its influence across various sectors including education, healthcare, and agriculture. In the agricultural setting, the multiagent system (MAS) is recognized as a powerful tool for optimizing resource allocation, enhancing decision-making processes, and improving overall farm productivity. Accurate prediction of rice yield levels is paramount importance in the agricultural sector. It allows farmers, policymakers, and stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding crop management. Individual machine-learning algorithms (MLA) have been used to predict rice yield levels, but they may not fully exploit the available information. Therefore, the novel system implemented based on stacking techniques to solve complex problems. The objective of this paper is to present an efficient system that leverages MAS based on a novel proposed stacking technique (Extra Trees Classifier (ETC), Random Forest Classifier (RFC), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Gaussian Naive Bayes (GNB)) for improving the rice yield level prediction within the agricultural environment. Each algorithm brings its unique approach to handling complex relationships, and modeling class separability. The findings from this study provided valuable insights for decision-making in interconnected sectors and facilitating optimal business planning. The dataset incorporated climate variables such as monthly maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall. The final result of the dataset consists of 1266 rows and 18 features. The results showed that the novel proposed stacking technique achieved the highest prediction accuracy 87% and the best individual Decision tree classifier obtained 77.5%. The novel proposed stacking technique increases the accuracy by 9.5% compared to the best individual MLA.

In the landscape of optimization for mitigating the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems, prevalent techniques like the tone reservation scheme and l-norm Cyclic Algorithm (LNCA) algorithm grapple with inherent challenges linked to computational complexity and iterative algorithm derivation. While strides have been made with models such as Twin Symbol Hybrid Optimization by the premise of Partial Transmit Sequence (TSHO-PTS) and Advanced Switching Differential Evolution (ASDE), persistent concerns related to symbol overlaps and algorithmic limitations underscore the need for further refinement in computational efficiency within OFDM-based communication systems. In response to these challenges, the proposed Nonlinear Inertia Weight Factor within the Whale Optimization Algorithm (NIWF-WOA) emerges as a solution. Comparative analysis against existing methods like LCNA, Modified Dragonfly Optimization algorithm (MDOA), TSHO-PTS, and ASDE reveals the superior performance of NIWF-WOA. Numerical validation affirms its efficacy, with a recorded in Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10-2.5, SNR 10-3.4 and PAPR of.10-4.2, underscoring the substantial improvement achieved by NIWF-WOA in optimizing PAPR reduction for MIMO-OFDM systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In the edge computing system, federated learning (FL) is a distributed machine learning approach designed to allow multiple participants (e.g., mobile devices, edge nodes, or organizations) to collaborate on training machine learning models without sharing raw data. However, when training FL over wireless networks, mobile users (MU) need to transmit local model parameters over the wireless channel, which introduces training and transmission overheads and results in not enough MUs willing to participate in FL. In order to improve the performance of FL, it is necessary to introduce an appropriate incentive mechanism to encourage MUs to participate in the FL training task. In this paper, we adopt contract theory to design an effective incentive mechanism to motivate MUs to join FL. Edge computing base station (BS), maximize their own utility by signing contracts with MUs regarding contributions and rewards of the MU. We model the utility maximization of BS as a problem of solving the maximum value of a concave function and successfully find the optimal solution with the help of Lagrangian dyadic method. The simulation results show the proposed optimal contract satisfies individual rationality (IR) and incentive compatibility (IC), and it can also effectively improve the accuracy of FL, and obtain a high-quality global model with a fast speed.

In this paper, a phase shifter for the base station antenna with low cost, ease of manufacturing and good performance on phase shift is presented. The phase shifter consists of a metal shell, a substrate, two dielectric plates, and two conductor lines. The phase shift is realized by moving the dielectric plates longitudinally, which cover the conductor lines. With the slots in dielectric materials, the slotted part of dielectric plates can function similarly to a quarter-wavelength impedance matching. Therefore, the function of this phase shifter is that the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and power distribution ratio can be guaranteed when the dielectric plate is moved. The phase shifter exhibits a bandwidth of 1.7-2.1 GHz and the corresponding phase shift is 86.88° when the dielectric plate moves by 90 mm. Moreover, its good physical features including light weight, low cost, and easy fabrication make it well suitable for base station antenna applications. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a low-profile CH9 circularly polarized 3-element multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna for precise positioning applications. The feeding structure of the antenna employs a conventional wilkinson power divider to achieve circular polarization, where the feeding structure and the radiating patch are located on the same layer of the dielectric substrate with a grounded backside. The -10-dB bandwidth of each antenna element ranges from 7.04 to 8.55 GHz, with a gain larger than 2.21 dBi within the desired bandwidth. In order to enhance localization accuracy and minimize the impact of spatial correlation, the distance interval between antenna elements is designed to be 12.5 mm. Experimental results show that when ports 1, 2 and 3 are excited with equal amplitude phase differences of 0 °, 90 ° and -90 °, respectively, the frequency bandwidth of the MIMO antenna is ranging from 7.61 to 8.48 GHz, with corresponding gain fluctuating from 5.39 to 8.07 dBi. In addition, the circularly polarized bandwidth is from 7 to 8.89 GHz, which fully covers the CH9 frequency band. © 2024 IEEE.

technology-assisted learning (TAL) has become an important part of inspiration for engineering education for both teachers and students to support the idea in the learning process. Attitude and passion are the most important motivation driven for the learning method. Embedded systems are the key point of future technology which works as a microprocessor-based computer hardware system with software that is expected to continue growing rapidly driven by the recent technology of the Internet of Things (IoT). The single-board computer is generally used as the embedded computer controller development. The objectives of this study are to improve the engineering skills following the digital system design for undergraduate computer engineering and to investigate the influence of learning process on students' perspective of TAL. Results show significantly greater learning effectiveness with proposed TAL than with conventional learning. Influences on the effectiveness and out-comes of technology-assisted learning have been noticed and improved. The interaction effect for solving troubleshoots has been observed. © 2021 IEEE.

Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) is a new way of leveraging an Internet-of-Things (IoT) system to provide real-time and highly flexible service creation. In an NFV-enabled Internet-of-Things (NIoT) system, several IoT functions implemented as Virtual Network Functions can be linked as a service function chain to build a customized IoT service quickly. It is important for an IoT service to be able to recover from a failure. However, the supply of a resilient IoT service in an NIoT system is challenging due to the coordination of distributed VNF instances. In this paper, we formulate the problem of resilient service coordination in an NIoT system as a mixed integer linear programming model, namely RSOd. The model offers the optimal resource allocation for minimizing service disruption when a failure happens at a node of an NIoT system. We also develop two modified versions of RSOd for different use cases required by an IoT provider. The evaluation results show that RSOd and its modified versions produce the optimal resource allocation in significantly reduced time compared to previous work. The results suggest that an IoT provider should carefully select an appropriate resource allocation strategy as it has to pay a resource cost to minimize the service disruption. © 2022 IEEE.

Because of its modest properties, the slot antenna has become an unsuitable contender in many applications. To achieve high gain, small size, and a wide frequency range in the proposed antenna, two layers of flower-shaped cells are positioned at various heights according to Al-Fabry–Perot theory. The improvements in antenna performance extended to the feed line and the slot drilled by the ground plate, allowing the amount of current flowing to be controlled. The number of cells in each of the metasurface layers above the typical antenna is 4 × 4. The antenna has a peak gain of 9.8 dB and a bandwidth of 2.6 GHz between 4.33 and 6.93 GHz. The CST software was used to carry out the simulation procedure. The antenna’s characteristics have made it an excellent contender for wireless applications. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In this paper, a reflection element sensitive to polarization direction is proposed, which can independently control the phase of incident wave in dual polarized directions. Then, a reflectarray including the proposed 7×7 elements is designed to offer dual-polarized deflection. The results show that the reflectarray achieves a -15° beam deflection with an X-axis polarized incident wave. In contrast, it realizes a +15° beam deflection with a Y - axis polarized wave. In addition, the cross polarization (X-pol) level is less than -20 dB, and the gain of the array is higher than that of the waveguide feed by 8 dBi. Therefore, significant gain enhancement can be successfully obtained. © 2023 IEEE.
