A Highly Reliable Dual-Mode RRAM PUF With Key Concealment Scheme

Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) has been widely used in the Internet of Things (IoT) as a promising hardware security primitive. In recent years, PUFs based on resistive random access memory (RRAM) have demonstrated excellent reliability and integration density. Most previous designs store PUF keys directly in RRAMs, increasing vulnerability to attacks. This paper proposes a dual-mode RRAM PUF, named differential mode and flexible mode, utilizing the difference in switching capability between RRAMs during parallel SET operations as the entropy source. The proposed PUF can reliably reproduce keys between cycles, so a key concealment scheme is used to protect PUF keys from being continuously exposed, improving the security of the RRAM PUF. The proposed RRAM PUF exhibits high reliability over ± 10% VDD and a wide temperature range from -25°C to 125°C through post-processing operations. The flexible mode can generate a significant number of keys for high-security applications. Since the PUF keys can be concealed, the proposed PUF is compatible with in-memory computing. It can be implemented using the same RRAM array as experimentally validated using a MAGIC operation, thus reducing the hardware overhead. © 2025 IEEE.

Microgrids (MGs), which combine distributed energy resources (DERs) with energy storage systems (ESS), offer improved energy security, reliability and sustainability by utilizing renewable energy sources for subsequent use. However, single ESS options often face challenges such as short life cycles, low power density etc. More than one ESS can resolve the mentioned issues though it increases complexity and maintaining stability becomes an issue. This paper proposes an effective energy management strategy between two ESS namely battery and supercapacitor to increase energy security in MG. The proposed strategy is designed in such a way that one of the two ESS stays connected all the time to the DC bus to ensure uninterruptable power supply to loads. Due to the use of DC bus, the system complexity decreases as there is no need to control frequency. Two cases were considered to verify the performance of the proposed energy management strategy in Matlab/Simulink. In the first case, during the unavailability of supercapacitor, the battery supplies 50 W to the load in addition to PV whereas supercapacitor supplies 136 W in the absence of battery along with PV. Furthermore, it was shown that the absence of PV has no negative effect in terms of power flow by ESS to meet load demand.

This letter proposes a high-gain omnidirectional antenna with dual-band for WiFi-5/WiFi -6 applications. The antenna is basically comprised of several slotted semi-circular radiation patches, L-shaped branch structure patches and coaxial feed sources. Here, symmetrical rectangular slots are used to increase impedance matching. The planar size of antenna is 12×35 mm2, which is much smaller than other dual-band WIFI antennas. Transformer-Based Bearing Fault Detection using Temporal Decomposition Attention Mechanism

Bearing fault detection is a critical task in predictive maintenance, where accurate and timely fault identification can prevent costly downtime and equipment damage. Traditional attention mechanisms in Transformer neural networks often struggle to capture the complex temporal patterns in bearing vibration data, leading to suboptimal performance. To address this limitation, we propose a novel attention mechanism, Temporal Decomposition Attention (TDA), which combines temporal bias encoding with seasonal-trend decomposition to capture both long-term dependencies and periodic fluctuations in time series data. Additionally, we incorporate the Hull Exponential Moving Average (HEMA) for feature extraction, enabling the model to effectively capture meaningful characteristics from the data while reducing noise. Our approach integrates TDA into the Transformer architecture, allowing the model to focus separately on the trend and seasonal components of the data. Experimental results on the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) bearing fault detection dataset demonstrate that our approach outperforms traditional attention mechanisms and achieves state-of-the-art performance in terms of accuracy and interpretability. The HEMA-Transformer-TDA model achieves an accuracy of 98.1%, with exceptional precision, recall, and F1-scores, demonstrating its effectiveness in bearing fault detection and its potential for application in other time series tasks with seasonal patterns or trends. Online customer reviews are valuable user-generated content to help in purchasing decision process. There are many customer reviews available in today's online marketplaces, allowing customers to evaluate them for a better knowledge of the product or service they will be purchasing. In addition to the recommendation system, expert opinions, and product descriptions, online customer reviews play a significant supporting role. However, due to the abundance of reviews, it is unclear whether these reviews are of high quality and useful to other customers. New online customer reviews may be of high quality, but because they are not widely known, other customers may overlook them. As a result, it is necessary to assess the quality of customer reviews that able the reviews to help a customer in their decision-making process. Existing studies tend to ignore quality indicators such as length and readability that provide a way to evaluate the important characteristic by employing a simple statistical analysis method. Hence, we propose the implementation of the Laplacian Score Algorithm to measure the readability index importance in the selection of the top-5 readability measure, to be used with other quality features in measuring the review quality. To validate the proposed framework, we use six review datasets from Amazon. The result shows that the basic structural information of a review text such as word, character, sentence and syllable counts give more influence to the quality of the reviews. Whereas advanced structural information such as difficult words and polysyllable count has less significance to the determination of the quality of a review text when it involves only the readability index measurement. © 2022 IEEE.

Uncharged biomolecules sensing performance of dielectric-modulated field-effect transistor (DMFET) biosensor at various nanogap thickness via semiconductor device simulation tool was assessed in this work. The device structures with 10 nm-, 15 nm-, and 20 nm-thick nanogap were constructed for this investigation. Each device structure was applied with dielectric constant ranging from 2 to 7 at the nanogap representing the presence of various biomolecules. These device structures were electrically simulated by supplying gate voltage from 0 V to 2 V and biased with drain voltage of 0.05 V for linear region of operation. Based on the extracted drain current, the reduction of nanogap thickness increase capacitance at the nanogap region. In additional, increase in nanogap’s dielectric constant causing an increase of its capacitance, and translated into higher output drain current. Sensitivity calculation and analysis shows DMFET biosensor with 10 nm-thick nanogap demonstrated the highest sensitivity with 6.896 µA/dec, which possibly permit enhanced sensing of uncharged biomolecule.

The basic requirement in curriculum design is to review and constructively align programme modules with state-of-the art and trends in the subject area. Extended reality (XR), an umbrella term for emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and virtual reality (VR), is becoming a prominent aspect of design and visualization for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. engineering programmes are primary feeders for the AEC industry, delivery of CAD and visualisation modules provide wider opportunities for adapting such emerging technologies in the subject area, as well as use of these technologies for developing novel pedagogical practices. This paper provides a rational behind revising traditional CAD and visualisation modules designed for engineering undergraduate programmes, and constructively incorporate XR within programme modules. A critical literature review is provided on XR subject area as well as XR based pedagogical practices. This review identifies elements of XR as a subject area that can be incorporated in AEC programmes. It also highlights academic and operational considerations in adapting XR technology for delivering CAD and visualisation modules. Similar approach is extended to evaluate integration of XR technologies for Electrical and Power engineering Programmes. © 2022 IEEE.

This study investigates sentiment analysis method-ologies using two distinct datasets: the IMDb Movie Reviews corpus and a novel Financial Sentiment dataset. Employing a comprehensive approach, the research integrates traditional Machine Learning algorithms and Deep Learning models to analyze and interpret sentiments. The preprocessing phase incor-porates techniques such as punctuation removal, text lowercasing, and specialized considerations for financial symbols. Machine Learning models, including Logistic Regression and Random Forest, are applied to the IMDb dataset, with Naive Bayes demonstrating superior performance at 89% accuracy. The Deep Learning model achieves 82% accuracy on the testing set. In the Financial Sentiment dataset, Naive Bayes emerges as the optimal model, despite reduced overall performance due to dataset limitations and imbalance. This research contributes valuable insights into sentiment analysis methodologies, offering a nuanced understanding of model performance across diverse datasets and enhancing our comprehension of sentiment classification in various contexts.

The use of energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly low-power sensors technologies has impacted the advancement of vibration energy harvesting systems. The standard piezoelectric cantilever beam has numerous limitations, such as a limited operating range and decreased output power due to mismatch of operating frequency and its surrounding frequencies. A broadband approach to energy harvesting is crucial for capturing electrical energy from random ambient vibrations. In this study, a model of the piezoelectric energy harvesters is established to assess the effectiveness of a multi-cantilever system. This research explores the impact of two distinct electrical connection configurations for the cantilevers, specifically series and parallel circuit arrangements, on boosting the power output and expanding the bandwidth. An array consisting of four similar piezoelectric cantilevers with different resonant frequencies were positioned alongside each other to function as a system for producing electrical output across a frequency range between 100Hz to 400Hz. The bandwidth of the multi-cantilever system was effectively expanded from 100Hz to 200 Hz for a 4-beam system, which is twice its original single cantilever output for both the series and parallel configurations. The peak output voltage of the system is also notably higher, at least a two-fold increase over the individual cantilever beams.

In recent years, there have been many proposals to improve the performance of traditional linear discriminant analysis (LDA). One of these is subset-improving linear discriminant analysis (S-LDA), which is based on clustering the whole set of classes into subsets and performing the LDA locally on these subsets. However, this algorithm suffers from an improper mapping of the classes to the corresponding subset during the testing procedure due to the inevitable discrepancy between the images used for training and those for testing. This discrepancy is caused either by spatial distortion or noise. The wrong mapping is severe when the number of data samples is small which is a common scenario in biometric datasets. In this paper, overlapping clustering is proposed for class clustering, to overcome the aforementioned problem. The proposed algorithm outperforms the S-LDA by 35.4% in mapping accuracy when using the PolyU palmprint database, 36.96%, resp. 33.92% when using left resp. Right palm images from the IIT Delhi Touchless Palmprint Database. © 2023 IEEE.
