Power Consumption (PC) algorithms for 5G communications are cutting-edge technology revolutionizing how our modern world communicates and operates. These algorithms help reduce PC and enable mobile devices to consume far less energy while maintaining high connection speeds. However, by reducing the amount of energy required for communication, these algorithms can significantly extend device battery life. By optimizing Internet connection speeds, users can also consistently experience faster web downloads and fewer macro outages. This revolutionary technology has opened up countless new possibilities for the future of communications and data networks. This study shows that various algorithms, including machine learning, reinforcement learning, and heuristic algorithms, can be used to optimize PC in 5G networks. © 2023 IEEE.

Electrical energy distribution faces the significant issue of losses, with power theft being a main factor contributing to these losses. This difficulty is not limited to Pakistan but is also prevalent in several other nations worldwide. This study introduces a technique that utilizes smart meters to identify the approximate whereabouts of power theft. In addition to the detection of power theft, this study also presents a mechanism for the eradication of unauthorized users. The methodology used involves comparing the overall energy with the energy that is lawfully utilized. Wireless communication systems, such as Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Network Repository Function (NRF), are used for communication between the meters.

Among various technologies being applied for indoor localization, WiFi has become a common source of information to determine the pedestrian’s position due to the widespread of WiFi access points in indoor environments. However, the fluctuation of the WiFi signals makes it difficult to achieve a good localization result. In this paper, to handle this problem, the valued tolerance rough set and decision rules method (VTRS-DR), which is firstly registered to WiFi fingerprinting-based localization, will be implemented and evaluated in big and complicated environments using two public datasets. The first one was conducted by a subject using a smartphone at a multi-floor library for several months. Furthermore, to evaluate the localization accuracy when WiFi data was collected from different pedestrians as well as different smartphones, a crowdsourced WiFi fingerprinting dataset was utilized. From the deep analyses of localization results, the VTRS-DR method shows high accuracy and high robustness when testing in different environments with a mean error of 3.84 m, which is 27.87% lower than other compared methods. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Pattern Transformation of Low-Profile Multi-Mode Antenna for A Phased Array with Simultaneous Wide-Angle Scanning and High-Gain Properties

In this article, a novel multi-mode design approach for pattern transformation of low-profile multi-mode microstrip patch antenna (MPA) has been proposed and developed, aiming to simultaneously achieve the wide-angle scanning and high-gain properties for a phased array. Herein, the TM00, TM01, TM20, and TM21 modes of the MPA are employed. Firstly, the working principle about how to move these four modes closely to each other in resonant frequency is deeply studied, the results prove that the shorting pins and slots could be loaded on the radiator for frequency reallocation of these four modes. Secondly, the radiation pattern transformation of the MPA at TM00, TM20, and TM21 modes are deeply investigated, which demonstrates that the non-broadside beam of its TM21 mode could be reshaped into the broadside one, and the omnidirectional pattern of its TM00 mode could be reshaped into the dual beam at yoz-plane. Most importantly, the radiation pattern of its TM20 mode could be rotated into the dual-beam with co-polarized Eθ component at yoz-plane. With these arrangements, the broadside-beam and dual-beam could be excited under same frequency at different modes. Thirdly, based on these two beams with different phases at two ports, the antenna element has successfully gained the improved beam scanning and gain performance simultaneously. Fourthly, the proposed multi-mode array is arranged in a triangular grid. By controlling the phase difference between these ports, the antenna could achieve both wide-beam scanning and high gain. Discrete chaotic systems based on memristors exhibit excellent dynamical properties and are more straightforward to implement in hardware, making them highly suitable for generating cryptographic keystreams. However, most existing memristor-based chaotic systems rely on a single memristor. This paper introduces a novel discrete chaotic system employing dual memristors, named the 3D memristive cubic map with dual discrete memristors (3D-MCM). The 3D-MCM system demonstrates richer and more intricate dynamical behaviors compared to its single-memristor counterparts, as verified through bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponent spectra, and complexity analyses. Notably, the system exhibits coexisting attractors, substantially enhancing its dynamical complexity. Hardware implementation of the 3D-MCM attractors confirms its feasibility for industrial applications. To illustrate the system's potential in encryption tasks, this study integrates the quaternary-based permutation and dynamic emanating diffusion (QPDED-IE) scheme for image encryption with the *** results demonstrate that the QPDED-IE scheme based on the 3D-MCM exhibits strong diffusion and confusion properties, effectively resisting cryptanalytic attacks. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

This paper introduces a dual-function radar-communication (DFRC) system with cognitive radio capability to tackle the spectral scarcity problem in wireless communications. Particularly, a cognitive DFRC system operates on a spectrum owned by a primary system to simultaneously perform data communication and target tracking while maintaining its interference to the primary users (PUs) below a certain threshold. To achieve this, an optimization problem is formulated to jointly design the beamforming vectors for both the radar and communication functions in minimizing the mean square error (MSE) of the beam patterns between the designed and desired waveforms under three constraints: i) the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) at each data communication user; ii) the perantenna transmit power; and iii) the interference imposed on each PU. The semidefinite relaxation technique is utilized to search for the optimal solution to the optimization problem. The simulation results indicate that our proposed cognitive DFRC approach can effectively protect the PUs while simultaneously perform its communication and radar functions.

In this paper, based on sum-difference co-array analysis, a new fourth-order sparse array called sum-difference-FODC (SD-FODC) is proposed, allowing the construction of a fourth-order DCA with long consecutive lags using the continuous segments in the second-order DCA and SCA of the original array. It has a closed-form expression for sensor positions that can be generated by two arbitrary nonuniform linear arrays (NLAs) called generators. If the second-order SCA and DCA of the generators have long consecutive segments, the designed fourth-order sparse array can achieve a large number of uDOFs. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed design.

In this letter,a humidity sensor is demonstrated by applying a whispering gallery mode(WGM)from a microsphere resonator onto the ZnO nanorods coated glass *** diameter of the microsphere was 234μm and the glass surface was coated with ZnO nanorods using the hydrothermal method at growth duration of 12 h.A significant response to humidity level ranging from 35%RH to 85%RH has been observed with the sensitivity of 0.0142 nm/%*** proposed humidity sensor has successfully employed to enhance interaction between the whispering gallery mode evanescent and surrounds analyte with the assistance of ZnO nanorods coated glass.

A RRAM-based logic in memory DES implementation against power attacks

Encryption is a crucial aspect of data security, and the Data Encryption Standard (DES) was the first encryption algorithm to gain global recognition. However, due to its dependence on the traditional von Neumann architecture, DES suffers from high resource consumption, transmission delays, and vulnerability to power-based attacks. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a logic-in-memory (LIM) encryption circuit using resistive random-access memory (RRAM). This approach reduces the risk of key interception by minimizing key transfers between the CPU and memory. The DES algorithm was implemented on a Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA, and power consumption was analyzed using correlation power analysis and template attacks. The results demonstrate that the proposed LIM encryption circuit has better power attack resistance than the conventional designs. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Partial discharge is the phenomena that affecting the health of power transformer. The problem with delay in identifying will deteriorate the transformer insulation condition and ultimately reduced the network security and reliability. In this paper, author proposed a hybrid method combining pinnacle statistical features with self organizing method for partial discharge recognition and clustering to replace the conventional way. Overall, the proposed method achieved decent clustering result with fast computation time (less than 10 seconds) © 2021 IEEE.
